  1. You need Ahankar otherwise you'd be dead. Aham means I and Kara means to do. Ahamkar is the I-Maker, without this you can't act. The type of mukti where you have no ahamkaar means you are finished, gone. All Saints that help humanity have some Ahamkaar. Why are you villanising Ahamkaar he is our friend?? He just needs a friendly slap now and then. Using an iphone is a riddhi siddhi, using the internet is riddhi siddhi so is driving a car, the only difference with this guy is that his riddhi siddhi is internal whereas our riddhi siddhi's are external. Internal riddhi siddhis have to do with the
  2. I agree that all fundamentalists are stuck at the "Sharia" level, but instead of sharia we could use the word Opinion. We all form opinions about life, these are built upon a desire to believe in something, in some ideal. This is natural if it passes onto the next stage of Experiment, whereby in the laboratory of life, the opinions are tested with the implements of critical thought. This takes some courage as the 'opinions' may upon closer inspection be seen to be not what they were originally thought to have been. Faith in some ideal, belief or religion may be shaken, doubts may creep in but
  3. Dhan Guru Nanak Ji The word Daivik means from or of the Devas, it was believed that certain Devas influenced the destiny of Humans and through this influence the fate of a person was determined. So the word Daiva came to mean 'fate'. Thus Daivik dand came to mean general 'fate' and accidents of nature and negative social effects. This would include Raaj dand which is any punishment by the state/government for example a court case. Any external authority imposing restriction/anxiety upon an individual falls under Daivik dand, Pitr dand is more in the past i.e. inherited traits and Rishi dand in
  4. Vaikhri Bani is uttering Naam with your mouth causing vibration in your vocal chords and in surrounding air. The attention/dhyan is focused externally. Madhyama Bani is chanting softly localised in the throat area where your vocal chords are. It is called madhyama which means middle because attention/dhyan is half outer and half inner. The Naam vibration begins to go from outside to inside. Pasyanti Bani means seeing, this occurs in the heart, it is chanting Naam in the imagination. It is a visualisation that is internal - attention/dhyan is totally inner. The Naam vibration has passed the mad
  5. Dhan Guru Nanak Ji, There is Pitr Dand, Daivik Dand and Rishi Dand. The meaning of dand is to punish or reprimand, normally for transgressing a law. Dand also means rod, which can symbolise power and sovereignty as a staff or sceptre - that can be used to mete out punishments. The three punishments above, may refer to three innate (not man made) laws in the universe that when opposed or flaunted will cause a 'danda' to fall on the transgressor's head. I believe they are related to the three Rna's(debts) of the same name. The first debt is to the ancestors. To fulfill this debt you must continu
  6. All Religion is a form of ignorance; to be coerced to behave in a particular way through some external force, that arbitrarily decides what is right and wrong, is ignorance. More accurately religion can be called a form of external morality, these are norms of behaviour for a certain time in a certain place, they change as the external society changes. This is what is seen as acceptable in our society, by our peers and elders. But as you pointed out not only religion has a morality even naastiks have morality so external morality can be religious or non-religious, but its common element is th
  7. Astral plane is a junction point between the formless realms and realms of form. In the words of a Sufi master the 'place' where spirits are materialized and matter is spiritualised. It is called Astral because it is luminous like the stars; lucid dreaming is an experience on the Astral plane. In the physical body there is 'seed' of the astral body, this seed must be watered with the tears of suffering and given sustenance and heat by the Sun of tapasya or holy labour. And then another body can grow which can experience on the Astral plane which is also known as the plane of deception. Its sym
  8. "In my dream i can see Jesus and Mohamad dressed as Nihangs who cares ?" Dream of deluded intellect is different to a true vision of a Seer.
  9. Music is against Islaam, Hazrat Mohammed had one Kaam, To hear Har Kirtan Amrit Naam, Now it is no longer Haraam, Chuk gaya musalmaan ka Bhraam!
  10. Science first makes a hypothesis, it then attempts to prove this hypothesis by experimentation. If the hypothesis proves to be observable and measurable, it becomes accepted as scientific truth. Until someone else can prove its falsity through the same method. If we leave aside the fact of large corporations bribing scientists, science must always be continuously updated therefore the only constant is the scientific method itself. Which is itself an *idea* not itself accountable to scientific method. The *idea* of the scientific method is accountable to a different disciple called 'metaphy
  11. Mother and Wife are both Prakriti (Maya) or the Prima Materia. From the Mother the Son is born, who is abstract Intelligence, he plans creation. Prakriti then Generates the father Brahma. From this Plan, the Father who is Brahma, creates the World with his wife Maya. This is Pravritti Marg. After the Pravritti creation The Son takes Maya to be his bride and makes Nivritti Marg.
  12. Many Thanks to the creator of the website, it is a very valuable resource for individuals who wish to take their health in their own hands and wish for long term sustainable improvements in place of short term unsustainable improvements (western medicine). Please keep up the good work, many people are now understanding the benefits of working in harmony with nature, instead of against Her.
  13. The idea of the Paraclete in orthodox Christianity (and Islam) is analogous to the idea of Baseeth in Gurbani, as an intercessor or a go-between for two parties.
  14. This is a confused statement. A person's Dharma is related to his or her Varna, so a Brahmin who gains knowledge is acting in accordance with his Dharam. You seem to be using the word Dharam to mean intrinsic religion, which does relate to outer societal duties. Is there any historical precedence for using the word in this sense or did you just decide to use it in this way? And do not call me an imbecile again otherwise we can terminate this exchange of views.
  15. - The Sat Guru Ji's aim was to bring a Human Being into harmony with his creator. - To achieve this end it does not matter what caste you belong or your social status. - The negation of caste is not social engineering. Revolution of society is not the primary aim of Sikhi; it may, or may not come about as a side effect. - Any society, even ours under a different name, from the foundation of civilization in Babylon, had a caste system or a system of social stratification, where some people were higher and had authority over others. - This system has always been abused due to the egotistic n
  16. Dalsingh, reading bani has chemical effects in the body. If you know how sensitive an organism the human body is you will understand that the release of a few micrograms of chemical hormones can change a persons consciousness. Modern medicine is beginning to understand the psycho-somatic causes of illness and well-being. If you try to understand the word Vir-Rasa you may develop some understanding of how the mechanism works, which understanding, by your comments, seems to be lacking in you. Vir means brave person, warrior and also semen. It is connected to our word Virility which we have b
  17. Dharam comes from the root Dha, which means that which is established and is firm, usually referring to a set of laws. Laws form the basis of any society, they are the foundations on which society is built. By analogy any act that is that is produced in the world has its Dharam or its foundation. For example a painter before painting a picture forms the idea of the picture in his mind, this is the Dharam or the basis of the picture that may be produced. At this stage there is no form or body just a seed idea. Arth, the next stage, according to the dictionary means; cause, motive, reason, u
  18. The reason people pray to Ganesh Ji is that he can cause problems and obstacles in life. He is the embodiment of tark or logic and critical thought. Which is why he rides a mouse, a mouse can cut through things with its sharp teeth. Similarly with logic you can cut through arguments and destroy them. This cutting and destroying makes Ganesh ji a dangerous divinity so special ceremonies and sacrifices were made to Him to please him so that his sharp nature would not cut through the ideas or arguments underlying the beginning of any venture. His two wives were Siddhi and Buddhi which meant he co
  19. Legend has it that before Time came into existence, in a certain place a Mahapurush had residence. The Mahapurush decided to have a Son. The only way to create a Son was through Sacrifice and Sacrificial rites. So for a 1000 years the Mahapurush sacrificed. As he Sacrificed a doubt crept into his mind, as to whether this Sacrifice would be successful. From this doubt sprung forth a Son whose name was Agyaan. Before the doubt had crept in, the Sacrifice had actually been a success, so the Son he wanted was also born, His name was Gyaan. Because Agyaan was the eldest he was given Kingship over t
  20. 1. Youth always decreases 2. Age always increases 3. The Moon 4. The Sun ----------------------- 1. Dharam always decreases 2. Adharam always increases 3. Informational/outer Knowledge 4. Spiritual/self Knowledge
  21. Forget what i wrote above. I just found out that Raam after killing Ravan has to do Shiv Pooja to rid himself of the paap of Brahmin Hatya. So Ravan et al. were Brahmins. But even after admitting this fact I still see a chink in the armour of Mr Chatanga's argument. I do not see how Brahmin and Rakshash are mutually exclusive. If Prahlaad a demon can be a Bhagat then why cannot a rakshash be a Brahmin. As Bhai Gurdas says the Kul was Rakshash. Kul means family. tribe, race or community. Jaat means hereditary or what one is born into. So the Rakshash could be a race or a community made up o
  22. I am not sure that they were of a Brahmin family. Their progenitor was the Rishi Pulastya which means smooth-hair, Rsi Pulastya was a Son of Brahma and known as a Prajapati. A Prajapati is an intermediate creator of beings, an in-forming active intelligence if you like. Even though they were the offspring of Brahma they were not really part of the Brahmin caste. Because Rsi Pulastya is the father of the Rakshash kul in a metaphysical sense not physical, much like if a put my ideas about a subject into a book I can call that book my son because I have created it. So even though Pulastya was a S
  23. Thanks to N30 for this stimulating vichaar. This reminds me of a story of Bhagat Naamdev and his brother who followed gyaan marg. They began to argue one day as to which path was the best; Gyaan or Bhakti. To resolve their dispute they devised a test: a pearl was thrown into a deep well, this pearl had to be lifted out of the well through their respective powers. First Bhagat Naamdev's brother tried the test. Through his Gyaan, he went into his suksham sareer and took the pearl out of the well. He said to Bhagat Naamdev "respected brother now it is your turn". Naamdev began to do Kirtan with s
  24. The 4 stages may be Shariat(Dharam), Tariqat(Kaam), Haqiqat(Arth) and Marifat(Moksh). Shariat means to follow the laws of morality that surround you when you are growing up as a young adult. This means family customs and also the law of the land you live in. It corresponds to Dharam or Dharma in its lower sense. And most importantly it means not to speak bad about anyone or think bad about anyone. Tariqat means the way or method which a person uses to locate the true essence of things. This stage occurs when a person has fulfilled his duties to the world and has a desire to see somethi
