  6. from what i have gathered....the difference between hukam and free will is quite simple....imagine a fish swimming in a stream, he can either choose to swim against the flow of the stream, try to rush to fast down the stream or swim steadily at the same pace of the stream....but when it comes to it the fish will arrive at the same destination....its is the same thing with us....we are all under hukam or a pre-ordained destiny, but it is our own free will wht we choose to do day to day....we are given opportunities and chances and guides etc....but its up to us if we follow them or ignore them....but we all have something in store for us by the end of......i reccomend everyone to read 'the alchemist' by Paulo Cohelo.....brilliant book....gets u thinking about these things....i hope i was of some help.....

  12. chatanga...but obviously namdhari women hav stuck to the old style...as that picture and my post proves...namdhari women wear that exact style still today maybe ill take a pic of my salwar one day n show yall lol
  13. Surjit singh Namdhari -sarangi vala and shaheediyan, i do not doubt the vast amount of effort and knowledge professer has and shares with his student, and i know him and his students have been touring alot, but professer is still a student himself, and yes we are all students, we are all still learning, but i personally do not consider professer at an 'ustaad' level- musically-theoreticall yes maybe, but i still do not understand how he thinks he is doing the sound of raag and gurmat sangeet any justice, but again i suppose thats just personall opinion....your right the sangat (who coincidently has no previous knowledge of raag or gurmat sangeet so has nothing to compare to) will decide
  14. shaheediyan, no offence but your compleately re-gurgitating everything professor says...which yeah is all good, but jus a quick question, slightly deferring from the point, i think its brilliant prof is trying to take on this great seva of teaching raag vidiya and gurmat sangeet...but raag is truley such a intricate and beautiful complicated thing, which takes years to master so how do u suggest prof can teach that to like a class of 30 kids-all at one time?, which he doesnt actually teach...its taught by a few 20-something yr olds who have only been learning for a few years themselves...which is brilliant but i personally belive if your not going to teach something as beautiful as raag, properly- so our satguru ji's traditions are made to sound as good as they can- then dont teach it at all p.s jus a quick correction of your first post, i kno its a bit delayed but ive only just read it...but ranbir paji was given his first taus by satguru ji (it was actually satguru ji's own taus)...and it was th raj academy model that was then based on this

  16. wow these photo's are amazing!! i agree, the choice of subject is great, truley shows the life and work of different working class people
  17. in the nihang and nihangi picture, notice the females salwar, how the style is similar to the patiala salwar style of today (if any one knows what tht looks like) and also how it goes tighter at th bottom- this was because the salwar was not allowed to touch the floor....this salwar is extremely similar to the way namdhari women have their salwar also
  18. this comes on channel punjab hunna?
  19. i went to the 3pm lecture, thought it was brilliant! been to other Niddar singh talks before, he always smashes it like! Namdhari's even got a mention when he pulled out the axe too like!

  21. oh and also, on vaiskahi day of all days, my camera memory decides to fill itself up, but luckily a friend of mine, visiting sri bhaini sahib for th mela also, has more pictures and video..which i will post when i get hold of them...
  22. i think it's coz it was vaisakhi they though 'what th hay we might as well' naa, only jokin, it all about upholding tradition, th kirpan to kangha was done bcoz a battle with shastar was no longer being faught...but when it comes to upholding important traditions we are all for it
  23. all good, and recently got back from bhaini sahib, and ther were a few namdhari's still upholding a shastar vidiya tradition and gave a few demonstrations...
  24. during amrit sanchaars, and when needed shastar's are worn and used, but day to day they are relegated to th kanga also no i hav not heard th story of Anoop Kaur...tell me please?!?
