  2. WOW THAT WAS AWE INSPIRING TO READ AND YET SO TRUE. I HAVE ALWAYS ARUGED THAT WE SHOULD BECOME MORE ACTIVE IN TEACHING THE YOUTH ABOUT THE RICH HISTORY OF SIKHISM. PANJABI STATIONS AND REFORM STUDIOS SHOULD BE OPEN TO ATTRACT YOUTHS. As important a role parents play in shaping the leadership of the future, the onus to change does not only fall upon them. It is also up to today's youth to initiate change. We cannot expect to be spoon-fed for the rest of our lives. We must be proactive and take on some responsibility. If you lack knowledge in a particular area, ask your parents; ask other knowledgeable individuals in our community, read books. Most importantly, connect with the other young people and discuss your issues, ideas and concerns. I DONT THINK YOU CAN SAY IT BETTER THEN THIS! THIS ARTICLE WAS JUST WKD WKD AND WKD! SHOULD BE ON STICKY AND POSTED ON EVERY SIKHI RELATED SITE.
  3. Dear cyber sangat, I am tempted to buy Kushwant singhs book on sikhism...any book by him. but the thing that stops is all the controveries i heard about him. I was just searching some info about him on google, when i can across this site http://www.sikhtimes.com/bios_021503a.html He amply says that sikhism is a blend of hinduism and sufism. he mentions this in such a way that it does not bother him as what other sikhs and scholars would say and has no care in the world that it may be taken as blamous for some. I also heard he is a kheshdari hindu, which i personally think, makes no sense whatsoever, because he himself has said he is a agostic. I have read some articles written by him n must admit he is an excellent writer, a geniues if i must say....
  4. i was just watching the discovery channel n they mentioned the universe is 12 billion years old :s
  5. Type in "UPDATE ON THE ARYAN INVASION DEBATE" into google. It is an online book with a lot of information but is very good, that is if you want something that goes into a lot of depth. He presents both sides of the story. I asked about the origins of the aryan theory on another forum and this was the reply i got from one particular member My two cents on the subject is that the idea of "Aryans" as a race is ridiculous and stupid and reflects a racist view of history. In Indian languages Aryan means "Noble" nothing less, nothing more. In the Vedas it says "Oh Indra, you made Aryans out of the wild people". Obviously you can't change somebody's race, but you can make them cultured. So the verse is saying Oh Indra (God, Indra was never a historical figure) you made these people cultured. Also, in Buddhism, the Four Aryan Truths (type that into a google search) are the most central portions of Buddhism, and OBVIOUSLY Buddha wasn't referring to a race, just Noble. That is how Buddhists translate Four Aryan Truths: The Four Noble Truths. As far as Indian literature is concerned - there is ample evidence that Aryan refers to Noble, as opposed to any certain race. But check out that online book. http://www.bharatvani.org/books/ait/
  6. Dear n30 Do u know if we can get the Guru Granth SahibThe History, Arrangements and Text in a book version. Thank you
  7. i think you got the wrong meaning of that sakhi. Guru Gobind singh ji did not pay attention to the muslim tomb, but was actually bowing down to god, meaning he was explaining to the 'singhs that god is everywhere and not in a tomb. aftet that guru ji composed a shabad about how god is not found in tombs, graves, idols etc etc
  8. the image doesnt show up on my screen :s
  9. I am having trouble speaking, writing fluent English. I am born and bred in England studying for a degree in economics. The problem is every time I speak or want to say something I tend to get it mixed up and it is really beginning to bother me now. my written English is slightly weak as well, I spend so much time thinking of the right word to use.. especially when its exam times. I also have trouble making fluent sentences. I am not dyslexic or anything or have such problem. I’m fit, young in good shape and my age is 22, which is the main concern. Can anyone out there help me overcome this problem. Anything from a site, books or even personal tuition would help. Thank you P.S you guys can probably guess how bad I am by my thread.

  15. CHEERS guys wasnt expecting a such reply If you think about its true. everyone on that programme sounded like a lost cause. which reminds me of a man, Bertrand Russell, a great english philosopher (copy n paste here) this is the man who destroyed Christianity (same applies to Islam and Judaism) and exposed its absurdities, but even this great man got stuck when it came to Sikhism! In fact he gave up and said 'that if some lucky men survive the onslaught of the third world war of atomic and hydrogen bombs, then the Sikh religion will be the only means of guiding them. Russell was asked that he was talking about the third world war, but isn't this religion capable of guiding mankind before the third world war? In reply, Russell said, 'Yes, it has the capability, but the Sikhs have not brought out in the broad daylight, the splendid doctrines of this religion which has come into existence for the benefit of the entire mankind. This is their greatest sin and the Sikhs cannot be freed of it.' now that deserves :yo: :yo: :yo: :yo:
