  1. Why are Muslims so admant about keeping the mosque? If you see the old pictures, it looked a deserted and neglected building. It has no historical religious significance for the Musims, so why do they cling on to something they know Hindus consider one of their holiest sites? Look at the example of the Guru-Ki Maseet. Sikhs were effectively running it as a Gurdwara, but then happily returned tot he Muslims to use. Why can't Muslims do the same? It just baffles me. Along with other known places where mosques replaced mandirs, I think Musims need to rethink their stance.
  2. Cultivate a virtuous and austere lifestyle. Live a faithful love-filled grishti jeevan, and most of your kaam problems will be taken care of. The more subtle/sneaky kaam will remain, and this requires life-long discipline. If you ever feel overwhelmed by a rush of kaam even though you practice all the above, then pray to Guruji and the shaheeds, visualize their kurbani and shahadat. It should cool you down.
  3. It alludes to those who are most vunerable and unable to protect themselves, with two big examples being the downtrodden/poor fellows, and cows.
  4. Cows possess a great deal of gareebi (humility) according to our Indian traditions. A popular anecdote is that a famous Sidh ( can't recall his name) asked for the gift of humility from God, he was told 3/4 is with Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the remaining is with the cows of maat lok.
  5. Bhagat Prahlad and Bhagat Namdev are used as examples of Bhagats whose honour Parmatama saved in the face of evil. Both Bhagats realized God when they were children, Bhagat Prahlad at age 5 or so, and Bhagat Namdev at 8 or so. The example of these Bhagats is used many times throughout Gurbani, just type their names into a Gurbani search engine and read. Bhagat Namdev Ji's names comes in various forms, such as Namdeo, Nama, Namey, and Namdev. Bhagat Prahlad is also directly referred with Sant prefix in Gurbani, a Pangti many times used to prove Guruji used Sant sahabd for a single person. Another well known Pangti from Gurbani instructs us to "Repeat the Name of the Lord in the way Bhagat Dhru and Prahlad repeated it". Interesting enough Gurbani has labeled many well known personalities from previous yugs as Gurmukhs, notably Ram Chandar Ji, Bhabhikhan (Ravan's brother), and even some of the Sidhs Guru Nanak Dev Ji had Sidh Gosht with.
  6. Just some humble suggestions/observations based on experience of self and other more well advanced practioners. -Great progression happens at the onset, then the progression stagnates due to various inner and outer forces, strongest and sometimes the least recognizable and hardest to get rid of being subtle ego. Then there is greater effort and wisdom required to take the 'next leap'. Sort of Guruji's way of growing our spiritual muscle by adding another 'plate'. -Being able to find a small group (even 1 or 2) of like minded practitioners and supplementing it with the isolated simran greatly increases the progression. -Inner filth accumulated from previous births and the current one cause the greatest hindrance to concentration and bliss. Thats why Guruji tells us many times the importance of seva throughout Gurbani. Seva cleans the vessel and makes it worthy of holding the valuable gift of Naam simran. You can experiment and see for yourself. Spend a few hours doing dish-washing on Sunday at the Gurdwara, and follow it up the next morning with Simran. Compare your concentration and bliss to normal days. - Sometimes you just aren't giving it enough time. To keep progressing you have increase your time and eliminate more and more vices.
  7. What you say is very true dalsingh. We need a balanced and well-rounded approach to all Panthic issues. Many of the kstanis today are miles from the ideals from when it started, probably the reason why many of our own brothers feel disillusioned by the whole concept of statehood. Their narrowed approach leaves us wondering what about this, what about that? A good example of what we should be doing is taking place in British Columbia, Canada. The youth started a very positive and non-political movement to win control of public Gurdwaras through elections. Each Gurdwara was managed so effectively after the election victory that the local sangat and even their committee-uncle opponents they had dislodged congratulated them on their success. The youth used the Gurdwara funds to pay off debt, make renovations, bring in wonderful programs like top parchariks, exciting childrens programs, hot meals for the homeless, greater involvement with the local goray etc. Future projects include marriage counselling, womens shelter, and more. Along with regular seminars and workshops, they have made a huge grass-roots level impact, without even touching the political stuff. When they show such great leadership and bring so much positive change, naturally the Panths situation will improve. To me, khalistan is all about caring for our kaums welfare and future. Of course we should ideally have a much more virtous kaum. With so many vices afflicting us, it seems we need to worry more of the immediate dangers in our house. I believe it was Baba Attar Singh Ji who stated that when all Sikhs start getting up at Amritvela and doing bhagti, then raaj-bhag will follow.
  8. More than the actual achievement of a state, its the free and irrepressible spirit that the movement represents that is much more important in the long run. You have to understand that this movement was not started by the whim of a man, it was a duty assigned to Sant Jarnail Singh ji by Guru Gobind Singh Sahib to re-awaken the kaum. It showed that we will not let even one zulm be perpetuated on us, that we are capable of answering any attack on our Guru, the khalsa saroop, our brothers and sisters. This blessed warrior spirit is what enabled us to withstand and rout the most ruthless enemies. Its this spirit that Sikhs, unfortunately, were lacking prior to emergence of the movement, and are again lacking in this day and age. Its disheartening when our own brothers dont even support the idea of of having our own nation state, it's self-hating and weakness in my opinion. I dont really care when we get it[kstan], but the idea behind it that keeps the blood of Singhs warm, and anakh intact, is what I hold dear.
  9. Just some observations from being there recently: In no way is it an easy win for Badal. He has to team with BJP (which manages to pull in some Hindu vote) or else it’s not possible to win more than Congress.. The Congress has the upper hand with full Hindu support, lots of the Scheduled Class vote (remember Punjab is around 30-35 % SC), and a sizeable Sikh vote. The governing policies of both parties is very similar. Plenty of appeasement of vote banks, and lots of debt for the state. For Sikhs who have some bit of anakh, it’s a no brainer that you support Akali Dal, even though they will govern no better than Congress, but with no better option, it’s a choice of lesser of two evils. Congress tends to give much more support for groups that put out challenges to the Panth. Akali Dal panders to these groups too, but not to the same extent. Since all other Akali Dal factions have no real presence, and are only good for press conferences, any conscious Sikh supports Akali Dal. But don’t think that Akali Dal has majority of Sikh support. Plenty of our brethren are happy to show their Hindu solidarity and vote Congress. Overall, for better or worse, Sukhbir Badal (Badal Senior looks like he’s ready to kick it any day) is the best choice for Punjabi Sikhs who have any bit of ankh. Sure they can support some of the more PAnthic breakaway Akali Dals, but it ends up as wasted votes and allows Congress to win. The virulent attacks on Badal we are accustomed to seeing in our community media makes us believe that Badal is some kind of Nazi whom Sikhs should hate. He’s not up to the mark, but still better than anything the Congress has to offer. In my opinion, which many may disagree with, many Akalis are passive closet khalistanis. Meaning, they aren’t strong enough to stand up for the cause on their own, but given the right religious leadership like Sant Jarnail Singh Ji , they would support it. The late Gurcharn Singh Tohra was also a closet Khalistani. They just were not strong enough to stand up and risk their political life or even physical life to give support in the face heavy-handed treatment meted out by the GOI. Sad state were in. The root cause is we have forsaken the instructions of Dasmesh Pita and not adopted Guruji’s Rehit. The tej-partaap (illustrious aura?) our fore-fathers possessed enabled them to overcome such great odds, only due to their Sikhi –Sidak. Now the kaum is confused, going astray, and has forsaken so many commands of the Guru. Only when we connect back to Guruji will we be able to stand tall, and not be bullied like we are being today.
  10. It's actually not saying that at all. You're reading too much into it to say they entered the womb. I agree all the fallible, but you have to take note when so many Mahapurshs believe the same, perhaps they know something we don't? What are your views on the last Pangti I posted. ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਆਏ ॥ Those generous, humble beings are above both birth and death. If they are above birth and death, how do they come into the world to help it?
  11. Brother, As far as I know, this applies to only Guruji, Jeeevan-Mukht Brahmgyanis who come to help the world, and other avtars.
  12. Brothers, I have very little gyan of Guruji’s Agaadh Bodh Gurbani. I have stated that which Ihave heard in katha from Mahapurkhs like Gyani Gurbachan Singh Ji, Sant Jagjit Singh Ji, Gyani Thakur Singh Ji. These same views are shared by many more well known Sant Mahaprukhs of the past and present. I will try to find the exact katha, but it will be difficult since I’ve never noted down where I’ve heard what. For starters please listen to Gyani Gurbachan Singh Ji’s veechar on shabad from Ang 310. It’s in their larivaar katha, cd 4, Ang 310, skip to 4:14 http://gurmatveechar.com/katha.php This isn’t the source I was speaking of earlier, but it does show what words Santji use to do veechar of the Pangti. Just take note of that. From the translation below it seems to disapprove what I’m saying. But listen to SantJi’s wording in the katha. Blessed, blessed is the father; blessed, blessed is the family; blessed, blessed is the mother, who gave birth to the Guru.. Mithar, the Pangti you posted does use the word janam at the top, but also note the word “parkash” is used to describe Guruji’s advent into maat-lok. The same is true throughout Gurbani where the word janam is used relating to Bhagats, and Guru Sahibaan. There seems to be a need for deeper understanding of this word’s usage. There is a Gurbani Pangti that comes to my mind: ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਆਏ ॥ Those generous, humble beings are above both birth and death. If they are above birth and death, how do they come into the world to help it?
  13. mithar, it's not the case of hindi/punjabi pronounciation. Not to take away anything form Maskin Ji, they were a Gem of the Panth and their beautiful lectures and kathas continue to inspire the sangat, but santhyia is something not emphasised in many new and old orders in the panth. Many many well known vidhvaans, kirtanias, Paathis (many with recordings widely used by the sangat) have too many pronounciation mistakes. Not just a case of differing interpretations of santhyia, but flat out wrong ucharan. Somehting we need to change as a whole Panth. Anyway, i don't mean to throw in negativity for the beautiful seva of Maskin Ji. This can be discussed somewhere else.
  14. Sorry for going further off-topic, but it's important to note that the idea of Guruji NOT taking physical birth through the womb is not a new invention. Sampardas have maintained this view, perhaps not making it very clear to the normal sangat. Akal Purakh becoming pargat is not exactly a big deal. How many times have Guruji become pargat to give partakh darshan to Sants and Sevaks? Countless. Did Narsingh take birth and grow up someplace before coming to Prahlad Bhagat's rescue? No. Honestly, who knows Guruji more, his dear Sants or commoners like us? Not trying to use the "Sant card", but something to consider. Even Jeevan_Mukt Brahmgyanis who are sent by Guruji to help the world don't have to hang in the womb. From what I've learned through katha and veechar of Mahapurshs and Gursikh vidhvaans(Sant Jagjit Singh Ji and Gyani Thakur Singh Ji to name some), Guruji is beyond Bhog Bilas; thier bodies are not made of the elements( even though appearing the same as normal beings); fire, water, weapons, nothing can affect their bodies, only for the world Guruji makes it seem they feel hot, are bleeding from a wound, etc. Guruji does not sleep, only show as such for sansarik kirya. These things are kept more gupt because it takes away from the "story" that Guruji plays out for the sansaar. But I guess it's difficult for many people to accept these veechars, hence they are not commonly shared in sangat.
  15. some sampardas don't lay emphasis on correct ucharan, but more so on the gian (knowledge). This may be the reason Maskin Ji's uchaaran is not up to the mark. Nevertheless, their immense seva and beautiful voiced Paath has benefitted countless sangat.
