  1. Wait, Gobind Singh classified Muslims with Atheists? When/where was this? It seems to contradict what (admittedly little) I know about Gurbani and the Sikh view of god.
  2. "and if you wish so abdus salam ji, i can find the book for you and type the english translation in" I would appreciate that, thanks.
  3. I've gotten mixed answers on this one....Can someone explain?
  4. I am cross posting this to another site, in case you see it twice; I just could use a multiplicity of answers. How important would you say the contemporary issue of establishing the state of Khalistan is to being a follower of the Gurus? I don't mean this disrespectfully. I understand peoples' wishes to have national autonomy, and can understand both the Jewish attempt to do this after the Shoah and the Palestinian attempt to do it now (while I disagree with specific methods and decisions from both). I do ask with a bit of wariness though because nationalism kind of bothers me. It seems that within the Islamic community people treat every conflict involving Muslims as some article of faith, especially Palestine, instead of just people doing what they do and fighting and killing for reasons both just and unjust. To what extent would you view political impetus towards Sikh Separatism as a necessity to being a good Sikh? And what form would it take?
  5. I appreciate the help. A question about the Sikh view of SGGS, though. Is the dominant view that the authors of the various writings were writing under "dictation" from God, so to speak, or that they are the writings of God-Conscious human beings? Or something else?
  6. I'm 26, a convert to Islam interested in the teachings of the gurus. My interests are God, the outdoors, martial arts, reading, writing, yoga, cooking, history, soccer, philosophy, languages, politics, DIY, and music.
  7. I'm in my late 20s was born and raised in America and am actually a White/Latino convert to Islam, I was not born into it. I am not flaky or uncommitted or hopping faiths; I have been a Muslim for years. I have always loved Sikhs as people since Sikhs helped me when I was in trouble and broke when I was younger, but it's only recently that I knew that I couldn't deny Nanak's holiness anymore. Is there anything specific you want to know?
  8. Peace This site was recommended to me recently. I am a Muslim who has come to the conclusion that Guru Nanak was a divine messenger and am studying the Sikh teachings. However, I am not ready to become a Sikh, at least at this point in my life, for several reasons. So I am looking for information about the Muslims who befriended, followed, and served under the Gurus, to get some idea of how they did it. I have already gotten some but more is always welcome, as is any constructive advice or knowledge anyone could impart. Thanks in advance.
