  1. Gsinghysingh What do you mean by "be proper sikhs"? Maybe the way sikhs exist now is how they have always been and is its normal state?!
  2. Koka Shastra is a granth based on the Kama Sutra. From my understanding, whereas the later is a treatise on the whole man/woman relationship in society the Koka Shastra has dispensed with the ethics and ideals and deals strictly with technical love-making and how both sexes can provide pleasure for each other. All these books come under the heading of Kama Shastra, and include the Ananga Ranga and Ratirahasya as well. Modern translations are available including western authored simplified versions that only deal with sex postions, kissing etc. I Highly recommend people dispense with their shyness and inhibitions and read these books if only to enhance their relationships. Happy Love-Making (whether by the front door back door!!!) LOL
  3. S'pose SV, archery and horsemanship are just too time consuming and effortful for todays Sikhs. WHy put the effort into learning such skills when you can carry a double barrelled shotgun, swing a sword around you... very fast! and travel by TATA Sumo? These are easier to learn and look more impressive. In most historical martial arts medicine has always been integral part of the training. With this Sikh version of morris dancing, how many practitioners know what to do when they hit themselves with a sword, either First Aid or Desi Dwaiy/Ayurved? Khuda Hafiz!
  4. FAteh all, I would like to know if there are any contemporary evidence - either Sikh or Mughal/Afghan sources- on whether Baba Deep Singh actually fought with there severed head in their hand and finally threw it the distance from where they fell to the edge of the sarovar? Or is it just simply mithihaas made up in the years after by the sikhs?
  5. ???? Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly normal airbourne plane......I do not know?!?! LOL Just remember to pack your own chute. Is it tandem or solo??
  6. Fateh all, Just to be pedantic and because I have a few minutes to kill; I'd like to clarify that it is HARKHOWAL WALE not HARKHOWALE as many people state.
  7. WE WOZ ROBBED, GUV!!! HOw on earth did that young dancer manage to win??!! Out of the final three Signature were the best.! Yet other exceptional acts didn't even get into the final three...such as Escala - what talent and Faryll. If we look generally at these talent shows over the past years we see that those who win seldom make it big in the long term but those also ran are the names we hear the following year and in Xmas charts.
  8. Thanks for that Shaheediyan. If any gatka Practioners here like we should try and test the effectiveness of a chakri. As a tool for frightening animals I can understand, but for stopping arrows, it is a joke! Eg: If it is spun in front of its user, what do you get... a massive 'shield' above and to the sides of the person but a gaping hole where the inner wheel is... right in front of the users chest!! Not to mention how the thing is always getting in a tangle. Maybe it could/is/was be used by throwing it spinning, at your opponent like a net used by gladiator fighters.
  9. Silence, Where do you live? I would advise you to go to one of his classes around the country. Its all very well asking others how the jalebi tastes, but unless you take even a small bite you will not know. From what I could see (without sound) he WAS demonstrating gatka-fari in the Google video. That is not what he teaches. On another note, I'd like to know from gatka practitioners more about the chakri that they swing around. What is it for, and how is it used in combat. I heard someone say that it is an "arrow-breaker"!!! I think they were just pulling my leg. LOL
  10. I've got a BA in Politics and Economics (B'ham Uni). Currently, I am doing a Post -Graduate MBA course in Brahm-Gyani and Finance. I hope to become a fully registered Sant after that. Hope fully should get a job in Kaneda or Amreeka. Tax-free salary, pension a'int too bad either!
  11. Silence, I assume you don't agree with Nihang NiddarSIngh?! Have you ever met him and questioned him on his views. I can assure you he will not bite. So, instead of hurling contempt about, why don't you just have a discussion with him (in English or Panjabi). One thing I know about them is that they can back up all their claims/statements/views with relevent data that will stand up to any rigorous scrutiny.
  12. Fateh all FYI I have found the correct details of the other sadh: Sant Truna Dass Ji Udasi of Bala Nand Akhara, again near the Golden Temple. Does anyone have any information on them??
  13. Fateh, This what happens when you give some authority, money and a teenie-weenie bit of education to jatts. They just look at the coffers of the SGPC bank balance and do what they think will bring the best Return On Investments, without any regard for asthetic value. It may not have anything to do with spirituality per se, but everything to do with taking pride in culture, past achievements, heritage etc. Unfortunatley, after the Hazoor Sahib destruction, I beliecve that the more noise we make to preserve our material history the quicker they will be destryed.!
  14. Cheers for your promt reply Kam, Sir! Anyone else know of Sant Tarana Dass Ji??
  15. Watched it last night. The reaction from the judges and audience was just awesome. The whole auditorium was on their feet. Even bought a smile to Simon Cowells face!! You can watch the clips on youtube of thier other performances. type in their names; or search on itv.com for a good quality replay of the show.
  16. Fateh Darshan! I am lookin for some info on some sants and where they are based in India. I think they may be Udasin sadhus and maybe based in/around Amritsar. First name I have is "Sant Anant Anand Ji" Second is "Sant Taruna Dass Ji". Help or directions greatly appreciated by our resident scholars. Khuda Bhalee Karsee! Jaat Boot
