Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji describes the sacrifice made by the Ninth Guru in their autobiography titled Sri Bachitter Natak; ‘He protected the forehead mark and sacred thread (of the Hindus) which marked a great event in the Iron age. For the sake of saints, he laid down his head without even a sign.13. For the sake of Dharma, he sacrificed himself. He laid down his head but not his creed. The saints of the Lord abhor the performance of miracles and malpractices. 14. Breaking the potsherd of his body head of the king of Delhi (Aurangzeb), He left for the abode of the Lord. The whole world bemoaned the departure of Tegh Bahadur. The whole world grieved at the Guru’s departure, the gods hailed the Guru’s arrival in heavens.16’. Even once his body was in two pieces, the Gurus hymns could still be heard resonating from Bhai Mati Das. The names of those who sacrificed their lives at Delhi continue to serve as a great source of inspiration for Sikhs, it is fitting that the names of those who are noted as great martyrs of the Sikh faith also symbolically represent the qualities of the creed of Sikh warrior that was required to face the challenges which would confront the Sikhs in the years preceding their great sacrifice. Anyone wishing to read any Akaal Ustat which they would like to be added to the Ardas on the day please let us know how many you wish to do by pm. This is the maryada of Khalsa at Hazoor Sahib, where every year in the run up to Divali the sangata do as much Jaap of Akaal Ustat as they can and then Baba Kulwant Singh performs the closing Ardas at Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib.

A Mahan Jorh Mela has been organised by Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal in collaboration with Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib and many Panthic Jathebandia in UK. This event is in celebration of the 'Great Liberator' Satguru Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji who released 52 captive princes from Gwallior Fort. It also commemorates the life of the great Warrior-Saint, Brahmgiani Baba Mitt Singh Ji Nihang Singh, who from childhood devoted his life to the service of the Guru until leaving his mortal body on Divali day in 1944. In line with Puratan Maryada, Divali will be celebrated with Jaap of Akaal Ustat , Sehaj Path Bhog and Aarti-Aarta, followed by Keertan, Katha, Dhadhi and Kavishree performed by various international Jathas. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! With the divine grace of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj we would like to present to the Sangat the first in a series of videos promoting the spirit of the Sikhs of old in order to inspire the Sikhs of today, particularly the youth. Punjabi terms are translated for anyone who may not be familiar with them. Giani (a knowledgable one in Sikh practice, scriptures and history and other disciplines) ji, at the request of sikh youth in the UK and with the blessing of the leader of their jatha (battalion or group), arrived in the UK from Baba Bakala, near Amritsar to teach gurbani santhya (reading of scriptures) and vidya (sikh education) to Singhs in the UK. Giani is head Granthi (chief practician of scriptures) at their jatha and has undergone immense training from a young age to reach this position. Already many if us have benefited greatly from their teachings and example. If you are interested in learning from them please note there is a gurbani santhya class run by Giani ji personally on Saturdys 4.30pm- 6.30pm. You will not regret attendance. Unfortunately a very few but nonetheless vocal members of the Gurdwara committee do not agree with their presence at the gurdwara if they are adorned in their resplendent bana (full traditional blue robes) and traditional warrior turban (dhamalla). They therefore wish Giani to change to 'regular granthi dresscode' or leave the gurdwara which would naturally cause outcry amongst the sikh youth. Of course in the strict code they have adopted, Gianni cannot and should not bend to the will of the committee in this regard. However, rather than be confrontationally critical of the committee members, wise sikhs have chosen to demonstrate their support of gianni ji with this online petition. It is with great pleasure that we announce Budha Dal in the UK, under the guidance of of Jathedar Baba Surjeet Singh and Jathedar Baba Joginder Singh, are to hold a Mahan Jorh Mela to commemorate the lives of Singh Sahiban Jathedar Baba Chet Singh Ji and Jathedar Santa Singh Ji from the 7-9th of May 2010. There will be prominent Nihang Singhs from various Dals attending from around the world performing keertan and katha in both Punjabi and English. There will be talks on the lives of Nihang Singh Mahapursh and on the traditions and history of the Guru Khalsa Panth. There will also be several prominent Raagis from a diverse range of Sikh Sampradai and Jathebandia performing keertan. A "Jatha Nihang Singha" stall will be set up where pictures, CDs and literature will be available. Throughout the jorh mela there will be amritvela and evening Nitnem deevans followed by Katha from Sri Sarbloh Granth and Pracchin Panth Parkash in English.
