  1. Ik-Oankar SatGur Prasad! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! With Guru Sahibs kirpa the site has been updated, please see the traditions section for a new article on Sarbloh which discusses the Sarbloh Sarbloh Parkash Granth and its relations to Sarbloh Bibek within Khalsa Maryada and to Sikh psyche. 2. These three videos are on the history and traditions of Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib. 3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji describes the sacrifice made by the Ninth Guru in their autobiography titled Sri Bachitter Natak; ‘He protected the forehead mark and sacred thread (of the Hindus) which marked a great event in the Iron age. For the sake of saints, he laid down his head without even a sign.13. For the sake of Dharma, he sacrificed himself. He laid down his head but not his creed. The saints of the Lord abhor the performance of miracles and malpractices. 14. Breaking the potsherd of his body head of the king of Delhi (Aurangzeb), He left for the abode of the Lord. The whole world bemoaned the departure of Tegh Bahadur. The whole world grieved at the Guru’s departure, the gods hailed the Guru’s arrival in heavens.16’. (Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 131) Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur sitting in a small iron cage watching Bhai Mati Das being sawn in half. Even once his body was in two pieces, the Gurus hymns could still be heard resonating from Bhai Mati Das. The names of those who sacrificed their lives at Delhi continue to serve as a great source of inspiration for Sikhs, it is fitting that the names of those who are noted as great martyrs of the Sikh faith also symbolically represent the qualities of the creed of Sikh warrior that was required to face the challenges which would confront the Sikhs in the years preceding their great sacrifice. The names of the Ninth Guru’s three companions represent the following qualities; good intellect (mat), truthfulness (sat) and compassion (dyal). Thus, as is seen many time in Sikh history, and indeed the history of other religious traditions, historical fact and spiritual symbolism are often hand in hand... 9. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! With the divine grace of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj we would like to present to the Sangat the first in a series of videos promoting the spirit of the Sikhs of old in order to inspire the Sikhs of today, particularly the youth. We call this video series "Honour The Past", with videos looking primarily at the tales of great Sikhs heroes whose legions must now come out from our great historical scriptures and inspire out to Sikhs today to achieve our great potential. The first video is on the sacrifice of Sahibzada Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, the beloved second royal prince of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji (Raajan Raaj). We hope with these videos to promote positive qualities to be held by the Sikh youth today; teaching important values, ideals and characteristics in which to serve the world, our Guru and Akaal Purakh. We look forward to the Sangats feedback in making this project a success. Any keen historians or those with media skills wanting to get involved, please email media@nihangsingh.org Video 1:
  10. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Thank you for your replies. The article on Kshatri Dharam will not be released for atleast a few months as there is more material to go online in different sections before the philosophy section is complete. By Mughal chronicles are you refering to the works of Qazi Nur Mohammed? His writings on the bravery of the Sikh warriors will surely be mentioned in the section on 18th Centry Warrior Saints. If there is any other work that you are familiar with which you feel would be a valuable addition to the site then please email admin@nihangsingh.org Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  11. Ik Oankar Satgur Parsad! Sri Bhagauti Ji Sahae! Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! With the grace of Satguru Ji, a biography of the tenth Guru and their "ladlee fauj" (beloved army) is now available in the history section of www.nihangsingh.org As well as outlining some of the major events and characteristics of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's life, the article also documents the evolution of the Nihang Singhs during the reign of the tenth Guru. Please click on this link to view the article: http://www.nihangsingh.org/website/his-gurugobind.html 'Rarely in the annals of human history does there appear a personage capable of awakening the human heart's noblest virtues to such an extent that an entire nation dynamically expresses the finest of its inherent qualities. Guru Gobind Singh had such an exceptional personality. Matchless in character and unparalleled in attributes, striking in figure and divine in demeanour, he was the definitive warrior-saint. In battle he knew no equal; in piety he was sublime. His presence inspired awe, devotion, and valour. Poet, visionary, sage, warrior, and leader, he fearlessly rallied the valiant forces of righteousness lying dormant within the weary hearts of his people. The strength of his moral fibre and the conviction of his spiritual and social ideals inspired his nation to fulfil its noble destiny, uplifting it within a singular purpose. In the entire history of humankind, the unparalled example of Guru Gobind Singh stands as a perennial source of inspiration for the leaders of the world.' 12. http://www.petitiononline.com/Bana/petition.html Dear all Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, vaheguru ji ki fateh. Please take a few minutes to click on this link and read and hopefully sign the petition. Punjabi terms are translated for anyone who may not be familiar with them. Giani (a knowledgable one in Sikh practice, scriptures and history and other disciplines) ji, at the request of sikh youth in the UK and with the blessing of the leader of their jatha (battalion or group), arrived in the UK from Baba Bakala, near Amritsar to teach gurbani santhya (reading of scriptures) and vidya (sikh education) to Singhs in the UK. Giani is head Granthi (chief practician of scriptures) at their jatha and has undergone immense training from a young age to reach this position. Already many if us have benefited greatly from their teachings and example. If you are interested in learning from them please note there is a gurbani santhya class run by Giani ji personally on Saturdys 4.30pm- 6.30pm. You will not regret attendance. Unfortunately a very few but nonetheless vocal members of the Gurdwara committee do not agree with their presence at the gurdwara if they are adorned in their resplendent bana (full traditional blue robes) and traditional warrior turban (dhamalla). They therefore wish Giani to change to 'regular granthi dresscode' or leave the gurdwara which would naturally cause outcry amongst the sikh youth. Of course in the strict code they have adopted, Gianni cannot and should not bend to the will of the committee in this regard. However, rather than be confrontationally critical of the committee members, wise sikhs have chosen to demonstrate their support of gianni ji with this online petition. Hopefully unity among sikhs will allow sense to prevail. - dasam granth part 1 - dasam granth part 2 - barsi baba kirtan singh - giani ji does arti arta, nagara, ardas and hukamnama.

  15. VahegurooJiKaKhalsa! VahegurooJiKiFateh! Thousands of copies of the CD titled 'Granth Panth Khalis Vartanta' featuring Sri Sarbloh Granth (Patshahi 10) Gurbani recitation and Katha by Jathedar Baba Tarlok Singh were distributed this Vaisakhi by Nihang Singhs in various cities in India, England, Canada, America, Scotland and other parts of the world. For those who were not able to recieve a CD, the two tracks on the CD are now available on the following link: http://www.nihangsin.../mm-tarlok.html We encourage all to listen to the katha, reflect and discuss the important messages within it and thrive to preserve our puratan Khalsa virsa. If anyone would like some copies of the CDs to distribute in their local sangat in order to enlighten people of the valuable treasure contained within the writings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, please contact media@nihangsingh.org . Please listen to the katha carefully and encourage your family and friends to do so too. Below is the Press Release from earlier this year regarding the CD launch. Ikoankar Sat Gur Prasad! Sri Vaheguru Ji Fateh! -- Granth Panth Khalsa Vartanta -- Jatha Nihang Singha - Press Release The Tenth Master, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj immortalised their role in history at the Vaisakhi Amrit Sanchar of 1699. By bowing before the Khalsa Panth and asking to receive the immortal nectar, Amrit, the world would for centuries chant “Great great is Guru Gobind Singh, He is both the Master and Servant”. This humble legacy created by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji is evident in their writings contained within the Sri Sarbloh Granth, in which a portion of the scripture is dedicated to the praise of the dual institution of Guru Granth and Guru Panth. It is with great pleasure that we announce the release of the CD titled ‘Granth Panth Khalsa Vartanta’ – ‘Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji showers the Khalsa Panth with boons and blessings.’ The first track on the CD features recitation of Gurbani by Baba Sukhdev Singh from Sri Sarbloh Granth in praise of the Guru Khalsa Panth and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Following this there is discourse on select verses by Jathedar Baba Tarlok Singh Ji Khyale Vale. The writings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji form the root of the Khalsa Panth, as shall be evident from this discourse. It is the writings of the Tenth Guru which expound the Khalsa Rehat and declare the supreme divine magnificence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji whom grants the Khalsa Panth with boons and blessings. One also finds in the Bani contained on the CD reference to the Sikh kakkars, origins and greatness of Vaheguru Mantr, Creation of the Khalsa, living standards for the Khalsa to adhere to and the importance of Gurbani Santhiya. Evidently, this work poses substantial importance for those seeking to understand and replicate the historically legitimate practises and beliefs of the Khalsa Panth in its purest form. Baba Tarlok Singh, being a well recognised scholar of the Sikh faith and a member of the warrior saint Nihang Singh community, eloquently presents this unique landmark in which he fluently elaborates on some of the most fundamental aspects of the Sikh faith. He draws upon history, tradition, philosophy and wider literature to contextualise the content at hand and bring a greater level understanding to the listener. The diversity of knowledge contained within the discourse ranges from meditation technique to stories of Sikh heroes who attained the supreme Khalsa status as described by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The abundant praise and glory ascribed to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the source of grace for the Khalsa Panth also shreds misunderstandings created by the false lie that believing in the writing of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji results in less reverence for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The CD will be available free of charge around the world at various Nagar Keertans at Vaisakhi 2010. To participate and do seva in your city please contact: media@nihangsingh.org or -004477521217502. The CD will also be available to download free of charge on www.NihangSingh.org All Rights Reserved
