  1. the majotiry of muslims aint bad, there are some who are only out there to 'convert', what i was told once was if a muslim converts one non-muslim into islam they automatically get a place in heaven, however, apparently this aint true! yeah there are some 'dirty' muslims who just look at you when u walk past or wat not, but u just have to put ur head up high and walk past remebering who you are, the weak ones are the ones who fall!! people should just stick to thier dharam and grow stong in that!
  2. ok, dont get me wrong or anything i disagree with GUYS and girls drinking smoking and stuff, but my OPINION is if thats wat they wanna do... let them be, if something is wrong people alwayz figure it out on thier own accord and lata regret doing such things, if they make a mistake they will learn from it, and hopefully bring them closer to sikhi! parents teaching thier kids about sikhi plays a BIG role, yeah we all go to Gurdwara, youth talks and wat have u, but the foundation stone must be made at home between themselves and thier parents, if they listen to thier paretns then fair enuf, if they dont, then like i said, they'll with Guru Jis kirpa learn from their mistakes! u cant teach kids without giving reasons to ur teachings cause they'll end up questioning it in the end, u need to know wat ur talkiing about before u go and teach kids!
  3. for an online virtual cyber museum which focuses on Anglo Sikh relations over the past 300 years to date visit http://www.sikhcybermuseum.org/ it also has references to sikhs that took part in wars!
  4. think the upbringing of a child is important, as that is the milestone to wat they may become, at a young age they should be sent to punjabi schools / gurmat classes, they should learn how to do kirtan, because as they get older they just rebel to the idea - resulting in them not learning!
  5. hhmmm.... this is an interesting question, "IF we claim gender equality then why there is a gap here??" think one of the reasons may be women are seen to be the child / home bearers hence not giving them much of an oppurtunity to speak out as much, men may be seen to be have more time on thier hands than women, but this does not mean that men and women dont have equality in sikhi http://www.sikhi.org.uk/articles/files/SikhWomensRights.pdf there are a couple of good articles there which may be relevant to this question.
  6. like ive mentioned, we all obviously have differeing opinions about things... which we are all entitled to! "Really this being June and thus 19 years since the most important event in recent Sikh history should we not be directing our energies elsewhere?"... i think u'll find this is a discussion forum, where we discuss things!!
  7. Mr Singh, of course they wernt meant to be 5 males, but it may come to a surprise to u that they were 5 males, hence, the reason why only men can do this seva! i didnt say any of the rehat maryada of anytyhing on the net is wrong, i suppose its a matter of opinion on this issue, u talk about 'equality' like metioned before, Singhs wear Guru Jis bana, would a woman also wear the bana without a salvar, would that not be equality if she wore it with a slavar?? lol... i thought i was a feminist, but Mr Singh, ur more of a feminist than i am
  8. that sounds amazing... i'd love a doctor like that, u'd just get better by doin paath, forget the medicine, where is this doctor situated???
  9. lol... yeah fine u have a pic... wow... but wat would Guru Gobind Singh Ji think about it?? He created the panj pyiare being 5 males! and women do have equality in sikhi compared to other religious groups but aint there anyone else who understands the concept of women not being a panj pyiara??? Mr singh, it cant be concluded to say "WOmen are ALloud 2 B a part of Panj Pyaaare..because of teh fact that Sikhism spports equality.".... ummmm.... ok, no point repeating myself over and over again!!
  10. ummm.... i dont understand how the quote relates to this topic... plz enlighten us... taken from the Damdami Taksal website "...Amrit has only been prepared and bestowed by Panj Piaré and never by one or two Singhs."
  11. have u emailed them askin whether women can do this seva, cause to others it may just be presumed that evryone knows that only men can do this seva!
  12. nice to see someone else agreeing with me!! thanx jazz! hey manvir singh, still waiting for the pic! :?
  13. wow... this should be interesting a picture with the panj pyiare which includes women... hmmm...., but i think the mentalilty of the youth today is based strongly on equal rights, yes, sikhi is about eqaulity, that dont mean certain things like this change, mayb its my 'backward thinking' which knows that the panj pyiare were 5 men and can only be 5 men, but if u ask ur parents or people in the generation above us, im sure they would agree with me on my points!
  14. of course it matters amrik singh!!! woww... i cant believe someone actually agrees with me... steel bangles mom and dad, hey amayb u should ask them to join this forum!! khalsa soulja u said "look. there werent any white or black people in the original panj. does that mean there cant be a white or black panj today? of course not. it was gurus hukam that 5 men came up and they were predestined, but women can still be in the panj!!!!!" true there were no black or white people who were part of being the panj pyiare, but they were all of different castes (at that time the caste issue was a BIG deal in those times) but Guru Ji did not say "no we dont want u cause u are a so and so", he took ANYONE that was brave enuf to stand up to His demands! paji, it was not Guru Jis hukam that 5 men come up from the crowd, he asked for 'A' head not 'a head of a man'. mr singh u said "THE SIKH REHAT MARYADA..STATS THAT A WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO AMRIT SHAKANA.." yeah thats right a woman does have a right to amrit shakana i.e take amrit, BUT not give amrit as stated Sant Ji has also said that a woman cannot do the seva of being a panj pyiara, but yes, she can do all other types of seva!
