  1. """Gagrya Sikh Hardyala Singh, who carries gaggar (a silver utensil) for carrying holy water from the Godavari to Takht Hazur Sahib, too has to be bachelor and can’t leave Nanded till death. A task force of the youth, carrying traditional weapons, escort him barefoot. The tradition of performing aarti besides ardas on the riverbanks after the first pitcher is drawn is a mesmerising experience. Being a separate committee, the maryada of Takht Hazur Sahib is quite different from that of Akal Takht and the SGPC."""" Actually the Gagria Singh Baba Hardayal Singh has come to our city in Canada and visited many Canadian cities last Vasakhi. I sat with him for sometime and we had discussions on his experience while doing seva. He is a really nice person and I was glad I met him. Maybe he is relieved from his seva and is travelling abroad???
  2. "If we do ardass for someone's rakhya, to help someone deal with illness etc., does it put the weight on our heads? Does it eat up our Naam kamai?" Doesn't seem the above question was answered or maybe the recording was cut -off at the end - What was the answer given????
  3. Slugz, pls share some more things as you have above from the mahapurkhs.
  4. WJKK WJKF Does anybody know where in Montreal Baba Gurdyal Singh from Tanda is staying for the next few days? Does anyone have his contact phone number there? I have an urgent issue to speak with him about which he knows about but can't get in contact with him. Pls help if you have his contact number or know his whereabouts.....................thanks
  5. Thanks for the info. I will check it out. I do agree that Sant Teja Singh has a very high avasthaa. My wife told me her whole body was shaking when she went to see him, she couldn't even look at his face for more that a few seconds. Do you have any more info about Sant Hari Singh? From your personal experience or from stuff you may have heard from other Mahapurks about him? He was mentioning that Sant Gurbachan Singh had I think 3 main students one of which is living in Toronto, and that he is the student of the Babajee in Toronto. Also have you guys heard of Sant Niranjan Singh from Patiala. The one who wrote the books "Divine Reflections on Gurmat". I went to there asthaan in Patiala and the Bibaa Jee who is helping to run the asthaan told me that Sant Jee' nephew who is also pictured in the books and who is doind serious Bhagtee now is actually Sant Jwalaa Singh from Harkhowal, who has come to back to do seva. Sant Jee's nephews name is Sant Mohinder Pratap Singh, and he stays at the asthaan in Patiala. Have any of you had any info about this. Kam maybe you can ask Sant Jagjit Singh? Have any of you heard of Sant Narain Singh Monee Tapaa? I think his asthaan is near Barnala and the Mahpurkh that he has put in charge after passing away is a born in Canada Mahapurkh who lives around the Scarborough area called Baba Sukhmani Singh Khalsa, he is about 26-27 years old. Any info on this Mahapurkh?
  6. Does anybody have any info on Sant Hari Singh from Randhawa? Who he is, where he studied from, his avasthaa, any related info. He actually performed my marriage in India (knows my wife very well), but we didn't have a chance to sit a speak with him. Pls provide any info you may have................. How about Sant Teja Singh from Rara Sahib? My wife went to have his darshan and he gave her his Malaa and some parshaad, but didn't say a word. Does he not speak? Does anybody have any related info about him and his avasthaa. I must admit there is a special spiritual vibe at Rara Sahib, just un-explainable. Any info would help. Thanks
  7. The biggest Sadhu/Sant/Brahm Giani/Gursikh etc, etc is the Guru The Guru = Gurbani Do the sangat of Gurbani and you have done Sadh/Sant/Gur Sangat. If you can find enlightened humans, then you are very lucky, you should do there sangat as well. When we walk, talk, play or whatever and constantly recire Gurbani Naam then we are always doing sangat. Guru Granth Sahib (i.e God) is running the whole universe, can anyone really NOT be doing his sangat. As the shabad is running us and everything else in the world and beyond. "Gur marai Sang Sadaa HAI nALAI, Simar, Simra tis sadaa samaalai" The gur is always with you, contemplate his name and fell him close.
  8. Just a question for the Sangat out there. Out of the born and raised in western countries, how many of you would consider getting married in India? My parents and relatives seem to be hell-bent on the homeland marriage. Are there gursikh girls there with keski's that don't just want Immigration? Can some of you share your experiences or provide some tips on finding such families in India. I figure my parents are on the fast track side now to get me married asap. I have let them know I want an amritdhari gursikh with keski, but they are having trouble finding one and want me to consider settling for non-keski. I would appreciate any pointers and advice.
  9. Does anyone have any info on Dera Baba Nanak and if the Baba's there are good Sikhs or not?
  10. But the thing is that same shabad above can be taken in a different i.e if you are with Guru Granth Sahib than you are not going to get "Khuaree" as you have taken the shelter of the Guru and no bad can happen to you i.e "Dhokhaa"
  11. Now the question arises how do you know whether or not the Hukum is prasantaa or Tadnaa? In a sense everything in prasantaa, just being with the Guru is Prasnataa. How are we to know which is which? There are some Hukums which are neither.
  12. THE thing is: This is how I am going about this - I did ardaas took a Hukumnamaa threw the parchees. Now the Hukum was Tadnaa but the parchee said go ahead - Is that confusing or what??? IF you said in the ardaas that you were going to go by the parchees the even if the Hukum is Tadna you still need to go by the parchees - am I right in this assumption. My real question is - do we as Sikhs make a decision and ask the Guru to help us fulfill that decision, OR do we ask if we are to do something or not from the Guru?
  13. Hey where is Karamjeet and others??????????????
  14. You have to roll over twice then times 3 again, holding your breath. Recite only 29 Lines of bani, then say them backwards. Then call your Masi's son and ask him to spell your name, memorize the spelling but don't write it down otherwise you will negate everything you have done previously. Then go to the gurdwara and ask the granthi to eat langar backwards and give him 21 ladoo's. Most importantly you must do all this without farting!!! Then you have to give me 32 ladoo's for telling you the formula, but under no circumstances can you tell anyone else the formula, it is between you and me. I have read that Baba Gurbachan Singh of Bhindrwalaa says that you must go back to the punj and have an ardaas done. Or just get 5 singhs in rehat to do ardaas for you. You may want to do an ardaas and from the Hukum you will I ma sure find your way. Hope this helps!!!
  15. For those familiar with the Nanaksar Maryada, a question: Both Baba Nand Singh and Baba Isher Singh frequently used "parchees" to ask for agiaa from Guru Granth Sahib Jee for different questions etc, etc. Under what circumstances should we be using this method and exactly how did they do this? Did they ever provide any advice on the topic? I know they did ardaas to ask the question and say what is written on both chits (parchee's), then I am not sure what to do. As I read in Anand Chamatkaar, Baba Isher Singh threw both parchees over Guru Granth Sahib and whic ever landed closest to the Saroop was taken as the command of the Guru. Is this the proper way? Now do we take the Hukumnamaa before we throw the parchees or after or not at all? Any other knowledge on this topic would be helpfull. The problem is sometimes I can't figure out how to apply the Hukumnamaa and figure out what the answer is sometimes, which is why for some questions I feel the need to ask via parchees? Do any of you have this problem? How have you tackled the problem? Or have I got it all wrong, are we just supposed to do ardaas and ask for blessings and thats it. But some times even after weighing the goods and bads of a situation you still can't figure it all out. Also why is the the site so slow these days?
  16. Veer Jee, The maryada is to never completly remove it from your body, the same thing goes for all other kakaars. By great fortune we receive these gifts and they become part of our body. When having a bath it can't be removed from the body. Many old time rehatnamaa's have said that a sikh is never naked while bathing always has there kasheraa on the body in all circumstances. When changing after a bath-untie the kacherra ket it slide down to your feet and remove your right hand leg out of the kachera while keeping the left leg in the kacheraa. Thie way it never really leaves the body. Hope this helps!!!
  17. Excellent post. About Japjee Sahib, I am taking it that the above means during an akhand paat Japjee is to be read alond side. What about sehaj paats, typically after Raagmaallaa, they only read 5 paurees.
  18. What are your views about getting married in India? On one hand everybody pretty much says yes from India but on the other hand you never really know if it is just for your immigration. I do find the girls over there for the most part are willing to adjust. But you have to dish out the cash to bring over her and re-educate her and then sponsor every damm person in her Pind even the pets. On the other-other hand it is hard to find decent Gursikh girls from Canada, at least I am finding it hard to. Have any of you married here or in India. Can you share your experiences. Thnx

  20. What scent of dhoof do you guys use in your Babajee Rooms etc, etc. What are the suggested scents to be used? There are so many scents available it is hard to decide what to use, your help will be appreciated. I have been using Rose, but I can't find good ones, they smell nice at the Indian Shop and at home when you light it, it stinks like crap. Maybe they are stale or old? Those that are going to say 1)it is not needed 2) try many different ones and see what you like 3) this is Bahmanvaad 4) Use air freshner etc, etc Thanks for your suggestions, pls don't reply. I need actual scent names or if you can scan in the wrapper or get the company name and scent and post it, that would be great. Pls respond ASAP.
  21. how do you mean "stopped doing bachans". Did they give any indication why it happened? And what the consequences will be for killing so many?
  22. So what is Nanaksar/Rara sahib/Nihangs/Nirmale etc, etc take on what happened in 84? Any bachans from the Mahapurkhs of other sampradas on why it happened, or why it was only the Taksal was one the front lines? Do not want to start controversy, please be straight and honest with your replies, lets see what other Sikhs have to say about what happened.
  23. Does anybody know what these "high priests" accomplish by coming over seas? What is the point really? They don't seem to be able to solve any problems we have in panth. They don't even seem to be able to agree on anything other than to travel overseas. I am really skeptical of these leaders. What do you guys think, do you think they are helping the panth or just another layer in getting nothing done.
