  1. u kno what, the point of that tukh about kesh not takin u to god, is not sayin that kesh unimportant, just sayin that kesh ALONE wont get u to god...meaning that kesh is important, but only if u have something else - jeevan...

being a pakhandi will not help u reach god, i think thats the message

Challenge_Everything, if u feel someone is insulting, jus remember that it is their view, and realise that they just insult themselves by posting crap

  2. i totally agree with the above....intimacy is an important part of a relationship and i guess it helps to build the bond between the couple aswell....there is nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy urself and help your other half enjoy his/herself too...

as with all things in life...we all do things that we think will make us happy.....sex on its own isnt enuff...also ive heard many times how a bad sex life can damage a relationship....

  3. its funny, coz i was thinkin about this in the morning, when i woke up

well, the way i see it is, nothing can be achieved without doing something...although guruji says that everything is in hukam there is nothing u can do

hukamai andhar sabh ko baahar hukam n koe

guruji also says that u shud try, udham karo

oudham karo karaavahu thaakur paekhath saadhhoo sang ||

I make the effort, as You cause me to do, my Lord and Master, to behold You in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

In terms of relationships with ppl....there is a common concept that the soul knows things from previous lives, such as who they were close to, who their parents were etc etc....

Guruji talks about other people aswell(sangat)

avar kaaj tere kitey na kaam ,mil saadh sangat bhaj keeval naam...

can our spiritual growth truly be complete without going through the experiences of being a child, a sibling, a friend, a teacher, a husband/wife, a parent or the other roles we encounter in life?

i feel its is all part of our path to god....we cannot jus expect to get to god in a flash...

    sehj pakey soo meeta hoye..

..things take time...jus like a fruit...u have to wait for it to be ripe before u can taste the true sweetness

Also this life is really insignificant, because its one of many millions....yet we must still leave without our bank balance of naam in the positive....

Anyways jus like ur vague question, my answer is jus the same, an assortment of thoughts all whacked into a post....its difficult to talk about one topic without havin to go into another topic..lol

All i kno is that we have to believe and have faith in the things we do.....for me sikhi isnt only about salvation...its also a way for us to be happy and enjoy this life....i believe that the soul is programmed to reach god eventually....and will get there in the end...the journey can be painful or happy

i guess spirituality cannot be explained or described...lol

all i kno is that when i believe in something, i try and make it happen...its all about belief

  4. first of all, my condolences to you, cookiemonster.

there's a whole bunch of shabads you can do.

here's a couple off the top of my head:

    jo aaya so chalsee...

pavan meh pavan samaya, jotee meh jot ral jaaya...

mere bhaiyo sahib simro, sabhna eho payaana...

We did a prog for Sant Singh Ji Maskeen yday...was really gud

Man Tan Tera , Dhan Bhee Tera

  5. if guru gobind singh ji says that without shastar and kesh, you are a donkey and u wont have darshan...does that mean that a sikh(without kesh) is equal to a donkey...and wud guruji say...

jo desai gursikhra tis niv niv lago paiy jeoo...to a sikh who is a donkey??

what sukhi says about forcing..i agree...i also agree that there is no place for pakhand...but id rather keep kesh, be a pakhandi, figure out that im a pakhandi..and try and change...infact how many of us can say that we dont do some sort of pakhand or make mistakes at any time in our lives eventho we dont mean to...

    hence

abhul hai andhar sabh ko abhul guru kartar...

bear in mind this tukh aint no excuse for u to do anything u want....but for those who try...and make mistakes....each person has an individual path, and all paths have obstacles...guruji helps us see the pitfalls and avoid them...

  6. in that case were ALL (non monaey sikhs) wasting our time, on this forum and others is what your saying here, i disagree with you here as you do not know what may cause that little bit of spark in a sikhs head to become a gursikh which is where we all should be heading, anything in between is a waste.

this is what was one of the points i made in my first post on this thread for this exact reason above, people taking ours advice, opinions, reasons as someone forcing religous issues upon them, i certainly feel this is not the case here and defo not in my own posts.

    Hardeep.

u need to read her post again...not jus parts of it...

  7. i'm no Gurmukh, Neo. lol! not by a loooong shot! but i'll give it a try.

to start, i believe the shabad "man tu jot saroop hai, apna mool pachaan" is Guru Sahib explaining that our mind has an inherent seed of light hidden within. the only problem is that we don't understand or cannot find it because it's hidden. at least, that's what this line is saying. the rest of the shabad continues on this line, methinks.

as for whether Guru Sahib is referring to the filthy version of mind or the satchit anand saroop version, i think it's encouragement for the filthy mind to become the satchit anand saroop version. it's like Guru Sahib is basically saying that we've got the potential to be more than what we are, but we must first recognize/acknowledge this and move towards that goal.

the point in the end, methinks, is to go from having a mind filled with depravity and materialistic concerns to being filled with light... godhead, i think is the correct term.

    moving on...

in my opinion, i think the point isn't necessarily to kill your antish karan, but rather to redirect it. the best way i can explain it is that at the current moment, our mind's in control of what we do, and our mind by it's very nature is mercurial. it's all over the place, thinking about anything and everything and jumping from one thought to the next, not to mention the fact that it's mostly concerned with materialistic thoughts for the most part.

the point methinks is to take this control away from our mind and give it back to our soul.

part of the reason is because the mind may not always have pure intentions. if you think about it, the mind is generally concerned with material things. it's concerned with our survival as human animals.

but if control of our actions is given to a pure source, one that cannot be tainted (ie our soul) then it changes us. the soul can direct the mind to act in ways that are beneficial for not only us as animals, but also for the person spiritually and for humanity as a whole.

i think the best analogy i can use for it is that the mind sees things through a very narrow perspective. it can't see past all the petty little things that we're concerned with on a daily basis, whereas the soul, being "satchit" has true knowledge and can fulfil not only our daily needs, but can also ensure our safe return to our True Home.

    think about it like this:

if you were going on a trip to england, would you rather have a pilot who has blurry vision flying your plane, or one who's got better than 20/20 vision?

now, according to everything i've said, including my interpretation of the gurbani tuk you gave to us, Neo, i'm starting to wonder if our soul isn't the same thing as our mind in satchit anand saroop version. (geezus, i almost make it sound like a computer...)

wow, erm...yeah, made sense to me in a sense lol.... mind is always described differently. to the soul in guru granth sahib ji in that the mind can be dangerous .....clean or filthy, the soul is always pure....

    ...one question ...

    when guruji says that...

man mailai sabh kishh mailaa than dhhothai man hashhaa n hoe

When the mind is filthy, everything is filthy; by washing the body, the mind is not cleaned.

everything is filthy, what about the soul??what happens??

if the mind is in control, then the essence is blocked out??

if the essence is incharge, if you allow it to be, the mind is brought into order.....

i think that the soul takes gud and bad....gud being naam, bad being when the 5 have influenced our decisions....thats why i guess we must give out heads to achieve true sikhi...to realise that we must follow the way of the guru...just because we cannot understand why at the time...doesnt mean we shudnt follow it...something called faith....

faith is not obtained by thinking, thinking and understanding are 2 different concepts...faith/spritiuality is obtained by walkin ....it is in our actions that we truly understand ....

e.g. maths..u can read theory, if u dnt apply it, theres no guarantee ull understand it, or have learnt it....only thing u can do is trust that the source knows more than you...and try it...

  8. gud post Dalvir, also in guru granth sahib ji...talk is always of husband and wife...even in our relationship with guru...we are all his jeev istriya....i guess this is a way of describing gurmat....taking a theme from guru grant h sahib ji, eventho the answer to the question might not written in black and white(although it is in this case) the theme that is obtained can be applied to questions and situations of this kind...if you get what i mean...

  9. i'm not sure but i think AKJ is defo anti-contraception. mebbe someone else knows fo sho...?

depends on where what type of akj, not all akjs are the same...each group also contains very few individual ppl, with their own individual ideas...also alot of ppl like to say what they think is right, eventho they dnt really follow it lol...

  10. each his/her own , like i sed in a diff post...that applies to everyone in everything...

in my opinion sex isnt only limited to procreation, it also kinda validates the relationship....as with everything, shud be in moderation.....

thats the problem i guess, when discussing topics as such , ppl tend to take things to extremes.....jus because u do something , doesnt mean its gna take u away from guru....
