  1. Hindus in Pakistan do run Gurdwaras. Most of the Gurdwaras in the Sindh area of Pakistan are run by Nanak Panthi Hindus. Many Gurdwaras here dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev Ji
  2. Cant rememeber page, but i think its volume 5 the Life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji...aint read these books for a long time so might be wrong.
  3. Dunno the validity of this, but just seemed interesting, but in Max Arthur Macauliffe's works on the Sikh religion, he says that Guru Gobind Singh Ji prophesised to his Sikhs that those Sikhs who fight for the British will be more prosperous than those who ally with the Hindus and Muslims.
  4. There is a difference between gluten and gelatine. Gluten is something made of wheat i think. Stuff which has animal related stuff in it apart from the stuff already mentioned, includes some fizzy drinks such as Lilt and some others i cant remember, these contain fish protein as a stabliliser. A lotta other things have animal derived stuff in it and it dont always say on the label, so the best mode of action is to contact companies and ask them to send u a list of whats vegetarian and what isnt. Im not saying whether eating meat is right or wrong, im just answering the original question in this thread.
  5. Heres a thought. People seem to say u need the Dasam granth and Sarbloh granth for a Sikhs warrior spirit, so i presume u can fight for your religion or be stronger minded. During the time of Guru Hargobind Ji there were a few battles between the Sikhs and the Mughals. The Sikhs won each battle, eventho they were far less in number than the imperial army. They didnt need the Dasam/Sarbloh granths to generate strength or becomes warriors....their love and devotion for their Guru and God was enough. Now the Guru Granth Sahib is our Guru, and love and devotion to it is all we need to generate a warrior spirit and make us mentally stronger. The other granths are good and useful to read, but they are not the Guru, for which the reasons are explained by others already.
  6. Just to add to all of this.. In part of the Vichitar Natak God is talking to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, giving him orders, and telling him how he created demons and gods who came to this world and did not give man the true name of the Alimighty God…here’s the section which would be relevant to this post: “I then created Mohammed, and made him king of Arabia. He too established a religion of his own, Cut off the foreskins of his followers, And made everyone repeat his name; But no one fixed the true name in man’s heart. All these were wrapped up in themselves, And none of them recognised Me, the Supreme Being†This English translation is from page 299 of “The Sikh Religion†Volume 5, Max Arthur Macauliffe. Here are some quotes from Christian Scriptures which emphasise that Jesus was not as great as most people make out to be. In the UK, schools and media try and brainwash us into Christianity, so we are made to think Jesus was a brilliant man, but read the following. In Matthew 15,-24, when a Canaanite woman came crying to Christ because her daughter was grieviosly vexed by mental dieased and asked Jesus for help, Jesus declined, and said, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of Israelâ€, and then he said, “It is not fair to take childrens bread and to cast it to the dogsâ€, and in Matthew 15-26, he further says, “Give not that which is holy unto dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine lest they trample them under your feetâ€. Basically Jesus refused to help people of other faiths. The Sikh Guru’s would never have done such a thing. Also in John 8:44, Jesus calls the Jews father the devil, despite being a Jew himself at birth. Jesus may have been a great man in some aspects, I respect him but he did do some stuff such as the above which isnt good. I am not going against Christianity or Islam just stating what it says in scriptures. Sorry for any offence caused.
  7. Ramgarhia Gurdwaras came into existance because most of the Gurdwaras, such as the Singh Sabha's, in the UK would only have jatts in their committees. In this way the Ramgharias may have understandingly felt as if they werent welcome, so they decided it was best for them to open their own Gurdwaras. I read in a book not so long ago, that certain jatts used to look down on ramgharias, because back in India, jatts were farmers, and ramgarhias were craftsmen, metalworkers and carpenters (ramgharias played a massive role in building the east Africa railways)....hence they made the machinary and equipment that the jatts would use on their farms. This kind of made jatts think they were superior to ramgharias.. Which is why many Gurdwaras had solely Jatt committes in the UK. Lets hope these beliefs rightly change in the near future, because this kind of inequality isnt right in Sikhism.
  8. I see it like this….God has always been there and always will be. As humans we are too used to the concept of time passing by, and everything being created. God is beyond the dimensions of time and creation, if that makes sense. Sorry if doesnt!
  9. We have a body and a soul. The body is short term, whereas the soul is more long term. I was wandering whether someone could help me with this. By the use of genetic engineering, if you were to clone a genetically identical human, animal or plant...would the soul be cloned too? It would seem a bit weird for their to be two copies of the same soul...or would it have a completely new soul? Thanks for anyone who can help me with this, because a friend asked me this question, and i'm not sure what to give him as an answer. Gurjit
