I heard this one at gurudwara one time and it's soo deep so i thought i'd share.... :sikhiwink1: Guru Gobind Singh Ji was standing by some river one time and 3 other Sikhs were with him. Standing on the bank of the river, Guru Ji was tossing a little rock from one of his hands to another...he did this for a little while. At one point, the rock fell from Guru Ji's hands and into the water..and duh, it sank. Guru Ji asked one of the 3 Sikhs why the rock sank... He said that was so because the rock is heavier than the water around it so it sank! Guru Ji asked the 2nd guy the same quesiton and he replied... The water has a lot of haumai so it can't stand anything that floats on it... Then Guru Ji asked the 3rd Sikh, Bhai Dya Singh Ji, the same question and Bhai Sahib Ji said... I can only think of one reason why the rock sank: because it left Your hands. ..waheguru! Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh although I don't know what my own stand is on this issue, i wanna share what i heard at gurudwara last sunday. the uncle ji was saying...we worry too much about not being able to fully respect Guru Granth Sahib Ji and if we keep thinkin like that, we wont ever be able to have Guru Sahib Ji at our home. The whole point is to receive guidance from the Guru when you're not exactly the best of a Sikh...we think we can only have Guru Sahib Ji at our home when we're the best of Gursikhs we can be...If we wait till we think the conditions are suitable enough to have the Guru at home, it may just be too late! Keep in mind allllll the different kinds of people the previous 10 Gurus met..do you think Guru Sahibs flat out rejected meeting and interacting with them? ...and what about all those people whose lives were completely changed after having met Guru Sahibs and listening/reading their sweet bani. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I just got back from a camp and we discussed this issue too...one answer i specifially remember is.... back in the day, when sangat came to see and hear Guru Ji, the males would usually dominate the area all around Guru Ji, therefore, making it hard for women to get the same oportunity to see and hear Guru Ji... so, the tradition started that males and females sit on different sides so that everyone had a fair chance of meeting and listening to Guru Ji. there was some other explanation i heard too but i can't remember what it was... chardee kalaa Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Gabroo bhaji-- there's nothing cooler than to see someone try to walk on the Sikhi path...I read some post here a few days ago and a line of it really got to me--it was something about how our enemies are our true love because they're the ones who make us stronger. Now i'm not saying your family is your "enemy" but sometimes it seems that way. trust me..been there, heard that, and still hear it sometimes. It seems as if you know exactly what you want (Sikhi)...that's awesome. A lot of people don't realize it and its exactly what they need in their life. Just do ardaas~ You know inside that keeping ur rehit comes way before anything people think/say, so go for it Singh! Don't delay it...You're lucky you're a guy..can you imagine a girl going through a situation like this? For guys, it's somewhat 'normal' for families to accept dastaar-wearing, but in the case of girls, parents FLIP OUT...!! :? Guru Jee is definitely looking out for you! Yesterday, I was at Penn Station waiting for my train and I decided to sit in the waiting room since their was still half an hour till my train arrived. When I got to the waiting room it was packed and I walked around looking to find an empty seat. Then I saw and old man, a sardar, who waved to me. He then got up and motioned for me to take his seat. I smiled...so touched and happy that a stranger would offer me his seat. I shook my head and told him to sit and left. After a while I realized how happy I was that someone had done something so considerate for me, I wanted to go back and thank him. When I got back he wasn't there anymore. Then I saw a little boy with a joora fishing for change in his pocket. I went over and offered to buy him the icecream he wanted. A minute later the old man came back and told me that the little boy was his grandson. He told me that he had recognized that I was a Sikh because of my Kara and that he wanted his "beti" (me) to sit down instead of him. I thanked him. One kind act caused a series of reactions in which two strangers came together to realize one meaning of Khalsa. It was my Kara that created the bond between this stranger and I. It was a kind act carried out in the name of the Kara that created a bond between us. One Kind act - sewa - can touch people so deeply!!! Baikhari Bani: WaheGuru WaheGuru is repeated with tongue and lips. 2. Madhama Bani: WaheGuru WaheGuru is repeated in "kanth" without movement of tongue and lips. Reward is 10 times more than #1. 3. Pasanti Bani: WaheGuru WaheGuru is repeated in "hirda" which is without movement of tongue and lips. Reward is 100 times more than #1. Gurbani says " Har jan simro hirde raam". 4. Pra Bani: WaheGuru WaheGuru is repeated in "nabhi" which is cluster of veins from foot to the head. Reward is 1000 times more than #1 i.e. saying WaheGuru one time in this stage is equivalent to saying WaheGuru 1000 times in Baikhari Bani. Gurbani says " Gurmukh rome rome har dhiave". There are about 35 million pores in the body and every pore says WaheGuru. After these four bani, there is "anhad shabad". There are different "chakars" on the way to reach WaheGuru. 1. Agiya Chakar: It is a place where eyes and nose meet. When one concentrates "birti" here, the light can be seen and sound can be heard from inside. 2. Trikuti Chakar: When one concentrates "birti" at this place, more light (like one sun's light) can be seen and sweet dim sound can be heard. 3. Dasam Duar: When one concentrates "birti" here, more light (like many suns'light) and very sweet dim sound can be heard. Gurbani says "nau darvaje kaya koat hai, dasve gupat rakhije" After dasam duar one reaches "manjale makhsood" and that is the goal. Gurbani says " roop na rekh na rang kitch traigun te prabh bhin, tisai bujhai nanaka jis hovai suparshan". LESSON LEARNT: ************ There is long path to reach WaheGuru. One must start from step 1 i.e. Baikhari Bani and keep on moving up. It takes lot of "kamai". It may take many years and sometimes more than one "janam" to reach WaheGuru. One should not stop and must keep moving on the long path to reach WaheGuru.

Sundri Bijai Singh Satwant Kaur ..these are just a few of Bhai Sahib's chardee kalaa books. They're all sooo inspirational.
