  1. Looks good. More refreshing with a warmer welcome. Well done.
  2. Very good understanding. Naam, shabad, and amrit burn haumai and desires (trishna ) "haumai trishna shabad bujaai" Guru Amardas jee Naam does not produce ego but it will invoke the awareness of it. The seeker becomes conscious of when mann is acting in ego or when mann is in guru's hukam( gur-mat). You get better in recognizing when one's ego is in play.
  3. Guys, you really don't want to fall in this entrapment. The Mind is too easy to tempt into different directions. Grabbing tips from x,y and z will only make the mind race and prevent it form stabilizing. One's daily conduct has to be done with a steady mind. How you go about in your day reflects how easily you can go into sehaj and steadiness in simran. Keep it simple, have faith and be prepared to give your matt at all times. Jumping around with a monkey mind, going from x,y, z will only weaken your hold over the mann. You must have complete faith in the EK that you decide to follow. No faith, means no progress.
  4. Very good. I can relate to some of the stuff he is saying.. Very inspirational in the sense of "get up and do it, don't just talk about it'
  5. Sat sri akaal ji. I totally get what you are saying. My post was to make it clear for newbies/young that "kirtan" has a different definition in sikhi. This is something I learned a long time ago through experience , when at the time; I assumed it was fine to sing dharmik geet in gurughar. I learned otherwise and pursued to educate myself about what can, and cannot, be done. No hard feelings, you know I don't get into nitty gritty of disagreements but wanted to state the facts as they stand. As for devotional songs and dharmeek geet; I'm a huge fan of old school geet especially tracks that i grew up with like the numbers by Bhujangy group, Yamla jatt, Narinder biba etc. (huge fan of vinyl collections!) God bless, mai paapi tu bukhshanhaar, sachay patshah
  6. Glad you paid attention to some older posts. ਜਬ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵਉ ॥ Jab bẖagaṯ karahi sanṯ mandlī ṯinĥ mil har gāva▫o. When the galaxy of Saints worship the Lord in devotion, I join them, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ਕਰਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥੩॥ Kara▫o namaskār bẖagaṯ jan ḏẖūr mukẖ lāva▫o. ||3|| I bow in reverence to the humble devotees, and apply the dust of their feet to my face. ||3|| Here, one is to walk and tread on the path that the sant's themeselves have walked. This is meaning of pangti "kara-o namashkar bhagat jan, dhur mukh lava-o" . SIt and do bhagti with them, but then you will need to move on and go further. They are there to guide you and know you're the pardesi from dharamsala.. It's an avastha, but at this avastha one also has opportunity to get Aatmic gyan from certain points in deep simran.
  7. I agree. I've come across a few of these over the years. SHABAD is your GURU. "Shabad guru surat dhun chela" , your "internal guide" and GURU Maneyo Granth is your sargun saroop who you pay physical obedience to. As for the person in question "Charanjit Singh Gorkhi" , well I haven't listened to his recordings to make a judgement. ADVICE-USe your heart/atma to guide and NOT maan. The MIND is a slave to ego and will calculate accordingly to convince you. MANNs wisdom = MAN-MATT
  8. i've only done kapaalbhaati a handful of times. Mainly done Breath of fire in which the inhale and exhale are same length. Good for firing up and activating furnace/lower core in helping prana flow and metabolism. Kapaalbhati has longer exhales, so it would be more of purifying and cleansing orientated. There's probably much more into the yoga science, but I usually keep my focusing on energy direction and body balance. as in to your original question about " praana vich kampan", I would normally suggest doing the cleansing technique of Saas graas at normal relaxed pace with some dhyian and inward pumps at the navel. This usually balances this out whilst doing simran. I usually do yoga techniques and stretches as part of my workouts. Goal here is BODY->MIND, MIND->BODY, and I usually bring in gurmantar or other mantar. I find these physical approaches are usually beneficial if done 3-4 hrs before deeper simran session. See how you go and how it works better for you.
  9. KIRTAN is NOT to be confused with dharmeek geet or devotional songs.(as per sikhi). Some other faiths and sects call their devotional songs "kirtan" but this is NOT kirtan as per sikhi. Kirtan can only be shabads taken from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, writings of Bhai Gurdas jee and Bhai Nand lal jee. In the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji like a gurdwara stage for addressing sangat, only KIRTAN as per above definition can be performed. Not dharmeek geet or devotional songs. However, exception is made to the art of Dhadi vaaran which was encouraged and promoted by Sri Guru Hargobind Singh ji. Dhadi jathas are allowed to perform and sing vaaran(heroic ballads) in presence of Sri Guru granth sahib ji. see SECTION V, article IV of sikh rehat maryada (code of conduct and conventions) Article VI - Kirtan (Devotional Hymn Singing by a Group or an individual) a. Only a Sikh may perform kirtan in a congregation. b. Kirtan means singing and scriptural compositions in traditional musical measures. c. In the congregation, kirtan only of Gurbani (Guru Granth’s or Guru Gobind Singh’s hymns) and, for its elaboration, of the compositions of Bhai Gurdas and Bhai Nand Lal, may be performed. . It is improper, while singing hymns to rhythmic folk tunes or to traditional musical measures, or in team singing, to induct into them improvised and extraneous refrains. Only a line from the hymn should be a refrain.
  10. Most physical ailments during or from abyaas are due to too much pressure when focusing. Usually when you put dhyian on spot where your praanic energy isn't free flowing or balanced. This leads to.--> turbulence----> can manifest to physical disturbance. Seems that you may have been focusing around ear area with dhyian and this may have caused the vestibular disturbance. .. The advice I've heard is to take focus to navel area. This makes sense in terms of yoga science, since core prana comes from below navel. I've heard others who get pounding headaches when focusing on agya chakar or trikuti. This is because they are not ready for it and have to do more saas graas in order to build foundation of flowing praana.. If you're not ready, then you will get pressure and turbulence of energy, which in turn will manifest as some kind of physical symptom. That's my personal take on the matter, but I would suggest asking Bhai saab for assurance.
  11. Vitamin D is a MUST. Whole family have been taking 1000 to 2000IUs daily for nearly 10 years now. Recommend between 2000IU ->4000IU max. Extremely beneficial for working out and pumping in the gym.
  12. 'Currently been watching classic movies ...Robert Redford in Butch C'assidy and Sundance kid.... the electric horseman.. Also re-watching many Clint Eastwood movies. Planning on seeing "Unforgiven", 'Mystic River' and "Perfect world" in next few days.
  13. i watched some of these a long time ago. In the 80's, (when i was a junior), a show called "monkey" (monkey magic) was extremely popular. Have you seen these? as kids, we used to love re-enacting the scenes in school playground.
  14. Hanji, I've been dialling in on some days depending what time it is. Usually between 3am-6am here! Missed it few days because didn't see notifications until after I woke up and it had already finished.
  15. When your'e on a role, you should really make the most of it. Just keep persevering and don't cast too many doubts in the mind. Good job, I'm glad that you never gave up in the past.
  16. It would be extremely foolish to assume it's not airborne. Especially after what "Fauci" says above. The virus is adapting and mutating. It can survive on surfaces for many hours, so how about all the microscopic dust particles and shedding from clothes and skin?
  17. Yes, as @Mooorakh has mentioned above. Keep going ..... let it's intensity increase. Whilst connected to pavan this is what happens as it becomes 24/7.
  18. This is it! Keep going. Back in the day, me and Sat could never get positive confirmation if we were hearing the right thing or not. It was one long juggle between yes and no' that went on for months. Happy to save you this frustration and verify that it's the correct direction.
  19. with these super-foods, you have to be a little careful from overseas products. Many indian imports have been found to contain levels of mercury, lead and arsenic. I usually try and go for USDA, organic and Non-GMO certified labels wherever possible.
  20. sounds good! Yes, this could be vascular/pulsatile tinnitus phenomena as you say and it could also be coming from jugular-carotid area (what Dr. told me) However, you're only beginning to hear it since you are internalizing more. I've never been too sure because I was also told that they were pavan-shabads. Now, the same type of shabads manifest and repeat themselves later in sunn as anhad. References in gurbani for "chauri" fly-brush will give some clues. At this stage, I wouldn't get too wrapped up on whether they are physiological sounds or pavan shabads. Maybe a bit of both? just keep attention on jap and shabad and get prep'd for drinking amrit ras. Many sounds are heard between pavan shabads(as per chakras) and akash tat. As you ascend and go past the akasj tat you have to break through a barrier called "dhaval". This is akin to earth's outer surface at which gravity acts. Goal is to keep going and break past this into the sunn. For now, you are hearing faint shabad, and the more you go antarghat, the closer you'll start to get. The frequencies will change until you are at a stage when it is 24/7. Good efforts are leading to kirpa. Keep going!
  21. Good stuff. I usually take this in smoothies but mostly in the summer. Ashwaganda has many properties and it's effective at lowering cortisol levels. This is both with cortisol level high due to physical demand(working out) and non-physical psyche(stress). Good sleeping you've noticed makes sense because if you had higher cortisol levels then sleep pattern would be disrupted. I've not particularly noticed the 'more alert' with myself but that's probably because i have other things for brain and focus. However, since you have noticed it, then i would utilizee that property and take dose prior to workouts to help maintain focus-stamina and also post workout or muscle pumps in order to help with muscle recovery. Ashwaganda also helps boost testosterone levels so it will help reap positive results, especially for over 40's men.
  22. Good. As Sat says above, these are correct. The jerk/jhatka is from your surti try to leave and connect into sunn. Sometimes, you may get a sudden feel as if you were "falling" downwards or may sense that you kind of tripped to a descent or fell. <<- This is when surti has risen upwards to akash tat or above and wasn't able to get further. It descends back down all of a sudden. There are physiological explanations for all of these on basis of muscle contractions(troponin & tropomysin), movement of ions like Ca and Mg at muscle level and Na, K at neurological ...as you will be aware in medical field.... but the truth is that Sukham actions/subtle behavior ----> leads to physiological changes AND vice versa. Do more saas saas and antarghat simran. The faint sound you hear will start opening up LIsten to this inner voice. Try to identify it. It doesn't come by thinking. It comes from letting go and not using the mann. The mann always calculates to reach a solution for ego. When you step out of this network you can connect to the "aatmic' voice. It takes practice but you begin to understand if decisions/choices are hukam or manmat(mind calculated).
