  2. Wjkkwjkf this year when i went to india for the second time in my life i went to amritsar and was blessed to have darshan of baba avtar singh ji sursingh wale. Someone who i was traveling with (random) told me baba ji was the 12th jathedar of bidhi chand dal which was started by guru hargobind sahib ji. I felt so lucky to be in the presence of someone who had a lineage from guru sahibs time. After leaving for sri harimandar sahib during the journey a farladhari nihang singh who was traveling with us was arguing with the same guy saying baba avtar singh ji isn't a descendant of baba bidh
  3. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh! Dear Sangat, (unsure if this was ever posted on here) I have come across this book written by Nidar Singh back in the 90s, I have seen on another topic the person who posted this used this book to discredit the vidiya of Nidar Singh. This was posted on the internet four years ago..In those four years he has started training students in many other countries. http://www.shastervidiya.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/The-Fighting-Traditions-And-Fighting-Arts-Of.pdf I enjoyed reading this book and learnt a lot about jung vid
  4. Do Nihangs eat fish? If yes, can someone please describe, how do they kill them? Any historical references, indicating Singhs eating fish during tough times? Thanks a lot Gurbani Verdict: ਕਬੀਰ ਭਾਂਗ ਮਾਛੁਲੀ ਸੁਰਾ ਪਾਨਿ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਖਾਂਹਿ ॥ Kabeer, those mortals who consume marijuana/chicken, fish and wine ਤੀਰਥ ਬਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕੀਏ ਤੇ ਸਭੈ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਜਾਂਹਿ ॥੨੩੩॥ - no matter what pilgrimages, fasts and rituals they follow, they will all go to hell. ||233|| Bhul chuk maaf
  5. 1.) What is the symbolic significance behind the Ashtbhuj/Astbhuj Duja? 2.) What is the history behind it? Do others exist? 3.) Any pre-Sikh era history behind it?
  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahguru Ji Ki Fateh! I love books on Indian martial arts, which are quite rare. The following is a list of about a dozen Indian martial arts books I have read. Please kindly post the titles and info of any books you know of. Thanks! The Art of Gatka Fighting - Authored by K. S. Akali in 1936. More sports-like than martial arts-like. Just some soti techniques. Pentra seems incorrect. Gatka: Book 1 - Dance of the Sword - Authored by Nanak Dev Singh Khalsa. First published in the mid 1980s. Kalarippayat - Authored by Dick Luijendijk. Published in 2008.
  7. Puratan paintings of Singhnis almost never show the sikh women wearing turbans. Most paintings I have looked at often show Singhnis with braided hair or sometimes with a top-knot. That said... Out of like a hundred paintings I looked at, I saw one where it seemed like a Singhni is wearing a dastaar boonga. It could be a prepubescent male since there is no visible breast shape in the painting however the clothing, pink salwar kameez, seem to suggest that it is a woman with her family. This was painted in 1838 Ad.
  8. IK ONKAAR SRI WAHGURU JI KI FATEH Khalsa ji i want to ask several ques. On sarabloh granth. Nihang singh have a tradition of respecting all the three granth (sggs, sdgs, and ssg). They say that sarbloh granth is a sacred and secret granth from all because british and mughals were destroying the granths thats why this is a secret granth. I have a ques. that sarbloh granth appeared in late 19 th century, none of the courtcourt poets of guru gobind singh maharaj has ever said or quoted any bani of sarabloh granth, in sarabloh granth there are many anti-sikh bani: In japj

  10. Really good exegesis of the multi-faceted activities of the Budha Dal during the eighteenth and nineteenth century. There will be a follow up of similar activities in a sequel, extending from the 20th-21st century. http://tisarpanth.blogspot.co.nz/2013/11/political-activities-of-budha-dal.html
  11. Just out of interest did the Akali Nihangs try ousting the corrupt sanataani elements which had overtaken darbar sahib back in those days?
