  3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Today I watched this video in which a so called Giani, Barjinder Singh Parwana got a tattoo of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwaale on his arm, as a response to Shiv Sena's propaganda against him. Shiv Sena members celebrate the 'shaheedi' of Dushts Indira Gandhi, Beant Singh, General AS Vaidya and army soldiers who were killed by Khalsa Fauj during Operation Blue Star. I don't think this is a good response according to Gurmat. Tattoos require the hairs to be shaved first plus it's altering the appearance given to us by Vaheguru Ji. This Barjinder Singh Parwana studied Gurmat at Damdami Taksaal Rajpura and was active during Farmers Protest in India. I wonder why he thinks it is okay to have a tattoo. Sangat here is requested to give points why Tattoos are manmat according to Sikhi so that a 'bhatka hoyea' Sikh/seeker can be saved from doing this. Daas, Trimandeep Singh
  4. Wjkkwjkf this year when i went to india for the second time in my life i went to amritsar and was blessed to have darshan of baba avtar singh ji sursingh wale. Someone who i was traveling with (random) told me baba ji was the 12th jathedar of bidhi chand dal which was started by guru hargobind sahib ji. I felt so lucky to be in the presence of someone who had a lineage from guru sahibs time. After leaving for sri harimandar sahib during the journey a farladhari nihang singh who was traveling with us was arguing with the same guy saying baba avtar singh ji isn't a descendant of baba bidhi chand sahib because baba bidhi chand sahib was not married. He went on to say baba bidhi chand sahibs last name was cheema and baba avtar singhs is chimba and that baba sahib singh kaladhari gave baba sohan singh permission to start a samparda in baba bidhi chand sahibs name. I am still learning and don't know much about this subject and it confused me a lot because everyone claims bidhi chand dal was started by guru hargobind sahib ji. Could anyone provide any sources to prove this? Or any record that shows baba bidhi chand sahib was married or had kids? I have tried to research it in many granths but found nothing. It would help me a lot ji bhul chuk muaf

  8. Why we are called Sikhs? Sikh name to Sikh religion which Guru Ji gave. I am Sikh since generations. I am proud of being a Sikh. Sikhism is the best modern and progressive religion. Non Sikhs ask me and I want answers for the following questions. 1. Which Guru Ji started Sikh religion? 2. In which year Guru Ji started Sikh religion? 3. At which place Guru Ji started Sikh religion? 4. In which place and year Guru Ji declared that my religion name is “Sikh” 5. In which place and year which Guru Ji declared that my religion is a separate from others, and it is a separate Kaum also. If any Guru Ji made Sikhs a separate Kaum (nation) he must have written in SGGS. 6. Is our Sikh religion a religion or Kaum(nation) While answering please mention name of book and page, edition year etc. I tried very hard to find answers to these questions from old Janam Sakhis, Panth Prakash, Gur bilas, Suraj Prakash, Guru Granth Sahib, Bhai Gurdas Ji and Dasam Granth also. But no where it is written about my questions. Please do not quote from Modern history books. Please help me.

  11. my dear Sikh brother just please think why we are opposing namdhari baba thakur dalip singh just think is not it what he is saying is not it that true and is not it that he is doing something for sikh panth ? is not it he grow sikhs or we are just opposing without giving second thought we should re think.
  12. Namdhari sikh head Thakur Dalip singh had made a point with no artefacts from gurbani held at World Hindu Congress Summit Chicago to Oblige Hindu Community. If it is just a question of pleasing Hindus and RSS then Dalip singh wouldn’t have made a valid argument on stage that “Why the conference is not been conducted using just Hindi Language ?” Secondly, Dalip Singh Thakur requested with a question in front of RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat to suppress Hindutva and bring bhartiyatav. For making such a bold statements one need to be brave heart like Dalip Singh who earlier too made a reasonable point that Sikhs have independent identity and that should remain independent. It is only Dalip singh Thakur who speaks straightforward in front of Hindu community and brought reasonable statement to think about. Do we have someone and has guts to speak against any orthodox thinking ?
  13. Why and how Sikhi spread throught the world in old days? My topic means : how and why several crore people from many Asian regions, all religions and all ideologies became followers of Guru Nanak Dev ji i.e. Guru Nanak Nam Leva, who were later called Sikhs? What was chrishma in Him which attracted people inlarge numbers without modern techniques of communication? I did not agree with people who say “Guru Nanak was very intelligent, due to that people became his followers”, that is not possible. Because during that period and now a days there are several people who are very intelligent and very good orators but still people donot become their followers in large numbers. There must be something else, which is not evident. Pl tell us with detail. In this forum there is a thread “why sikhi failed to spread”, By amardeep in 2015, which is very educative and eye opener. After reading that i became interested in this forum. I hope members of this forum can throw light on this topic also. I request everybody to give us knowledge about this topic. Even in this period there are about 11crore Guru Nanak Leva people mostly in India, many of them cannot understand Hindi leave aside Punjabi. We must analise: with so much language barrier and hardships of communications , why and how they became followers Guru Nanak Dev ji in those days or later? After 500yrs still they are his devotee, why? How their devotion/attachment survived when there is no contact/preaching/support from Sikh clergy/SGPC etc? I know many hard core Sikhs or who are in power, who are in posession of main gurdwara and goolks and so called mainstrem Sikhs donot consider them as Sikhs but as per my opinion they are Sikhs. They are real real Sikhs devotees, true disciples of Guru Nanak Dev ji because they have devotion inside, which is real Sikhi. Because Sikhi is not with any particular uniform or dress code or even kes/hair are not neccessory element of Sikhi as per Gurubani, Sikhi is with devotion to Guru Nanak Dev ji. I request everybody to give us knowledge about this topic.
  14. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh i was blessed with amrit almost a year ago, but since then i seem to have gone on a downwards scale mainly because of coming into a series of arguments about a month after taking amrit. After that time sikhi just hasnt been the same, i dont feel anything when doing simran anymore and the love for sikhi just isnt the same. For about 8 months now i've just been trying to get back on track and get back into sikhi properly but its been really hard. I try to spend much time reading bani, doing simran but it doesnt seem to do much effect. Right now feel like i've really dropped and in my mind increasingly im starting to have really bad thoughts when im in sangat or even out and about (mainly nindia). I dont know how to control these thoughts and i know that they're wrong and i shouldnt but i cant help it. after beant ardaasa to maharaj im now just hopeing that the sangat can give me some support and show me the way. I really wanna increase my prem for maharaj but i dont know what to do anymore. also i went to gurughar today and whilst listening to akand paath i picked up on this shabad: ਅਵਖਧ ਸਭੇ ਕੀਤਿਅਨੁ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕਾ ਦਾਰੂ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ Avakhadhh Sabhae Keethian Nindhak Kaa Dhaaroo Naahi || All kinds of medicines may be prepared, but there is no cure for the slanderer. your answers will mean the world to me, thank you sangat ji?

  16. Can someone please provide info on Baba Maan Singh Ji? What is the controversy surrounding them and why? What do you all think of it? Thank you.
  17. so i know that basically hukam is the broader law of cosmos, everything comes under His will, so even if we have a free will it is 'within the larger Hukam'. but how do you explain destiny? gurbani keeps talking about the fact that gurmukhs have their lekhaa on their forehead, something akin to predestination, but doesn't that contradict free will? e.g. Page 10, Line Jin har jan saṯgur sangaṯ pā▫ī ṯin ḏẖur masṯak likẖi▫ā likẖās.Those humble servants of the Lord who have attained the Company of the True Guru, have such pre-ordained destiny inscribed on their foreheads. Ŧisėh parāpaṯ raṯan ho▫e jis masṯak hovai bẖāg. ||3||He alone receives the Jewel, upon whose forehead such wondrous destiny is written. Jehā bījai so luṇai mathai jo likẖi▫ās.As you plant, so shall you harvest; your destiny is recorded on your forehead.Guru Arjan Dev etc etc
  18. **Taken from www.sabh13.com** Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio, A Sikh once approached Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj at Karamsar, Rara Sahib and asked Sant Ji, what must be done to acquire just one of the many 'Ridhiya Sidhiya' (spiritual powers). Sant Ji Maharaj with devotees Sant Ji answered that "One must do Seva (self-less service) in the Langar (free community kitchen for the congregation) for 40 days". The Sikh replied with "What? Are you sure? Is that it? That doesn't seem difficult!" However, Sant Ji replied "Hold on, listen to the full answer before you start making assumptions, one must do seva in the Langar, and consider all those that eat as though they were the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj." The Sikh replied, "How so?" Sant Ji explained, "When serving an individual, when picking up their dishes, when cleaning their dishes, you must do it with so much love and devotion as though, you were serving Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj" The Sikh accepted this and in his mind considered this task to not be so difficult. If one goes to Karamsar, Rara Sahib, even today the Sangat (congregation), eat Langar in the masses and it's not an exaggeration to say that they are 100-150 members of the Sangat eating at one time. Sant Ji gave a command to the Sevadaars (volunteers) at Rara Sahib to always have Langar ready for 200 members of sangat at all times. The Sikh began his Seva within the Langar and served the Sangat with as much devotion as possible. He began to closely observe how people were eating. He watched how people were spilling their drinks and food upon themselves and on the floor whilst eating (as per normal in most Langar's) and immediately began to get doubts in the bachan (holy words) of Sant Ji. In his mind he was saying "These are the people who Sant Ji considers Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj? They don't even know how to eat their food, let alone anything else!" However he remained quiet and didn't respond in the attempt to fulfil his hunger for spiritual powers. On the 8th day, a fellow Sikh was eating in the Langar and had an excessive amount of Rotiya (chappatti bread). The Sikh who was following the bachan of Sant Ji had not responded to any of the behaviour he had seen until now, until the fellow Sikh asked for yet another Roti. The Sikh got very angry and disgusted at the fact that this fellow Sikh had eaten so much already and was asking for more! He then replied in a rude manner "Look how much you've had to eat already, you don't need anymore!" Sant Ji was standing behind and began to laugh. "O Sikh, you've fallen already? It's only been 8 days! You've yet 32 days to go!" The Sikh realised his mistake and apologised to Sant Ji for not being able to follow their bachan. I'm sure reading these posts upon this blog, people will draw their own conclusions/morals and perhaps some people will learn more from this story then myself. However, in my humble opinion, I think the moral of this story is, that doing Seva is and especially regarding the Sangat as though they are Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj is a very hard task, which we sometimes take for granted. We will surely get kamaiee (spiritual wealth) for doing Seva, but we will get double kamaiee if we do Seva with love and devotion! Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Maharaj gave bachan after this whole episode, that doing seva in the Langar for 40 days, and considering everyone as though they are Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj is the equivalent to doing 12 years of bhagti (mediation)! Maharaj didn't say for no reason that ਖੰਨਿਅਹੁ ਤਿਖੀ ਵਾਲਹੁ ਨਿਕੀ ਏਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਜਾਣਾ || The path they take is sharper than a two-edged sword, and finer than a hair. The path of Sikhi and it's lifestyle is very hard to commit to! It's easy to wear a chola, to tie a dastar, however it's very difficult to do Naam, Baani and Seva. The closer one gets to the Guru, the more tests the Guru poses to test the love and devotion of his beloved Sikhs. As Sikhs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, it should be our daily Ardas, to pray that Maharaj blesses us with Sikhi, day in day out. Please forgive sevadaars, if we have made any mistakes whilst narrating this story. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Jio,
  19. What do the numbers like 108, 110, 111, etc. And "Karak" mean before a Sants name? As well what does 96 crori mean?
  20. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. I was reading quite a few articles and books in regards to Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee and I've discovered a few facts and I have a few theories about Sri Dasam Patshah's Granth. If one were to inspect the various Versions of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Jee ( SGPC version, Bhai Randhir Singh Version, Hazoor Sahib Version, Anandpur Sahib Version, and so on) we'd find quite a lot of discrepancies and consistency in Birs when compared to each other. As we all know, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib was with strenuous effort, compiled by Bhai Mani Singh Ji, who had managed to gather as much of Dasam Patshah Jee's Bani as he possibly could into his Bir. This what I've noticed so far from my reading: 1) We discovered Banis which aren't to be found in Bhai Mani Singh's Bir. 2) many texts are ascribed to Jaan-O-Dil-Raa-Raah Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Jee which don't seem to match Guru Sahib's more prominent texts, which has caused people to doubt some of these Banis and consider them as the work of other writers. For example: Asfotak Kabit, Sahansar Sukhmana, Naam Shastar Mala Mantar, etc. 3) We'd find that some of Guru Sahib's Bani is outside of any version of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib, such as Sarbloh Prakash. 4) We also find that some Banis are incomplete (portions are missing). For example: Shastar Naam Mala Granth/Puran, Akal Ustat, and Gyan Prabodh. Bhai Mani Singh couldn't gather every Bani of Guru Sahib, but he did make an attempt, which was fruitful. Baba Gurbakash Singh Jee and Baba Binod Singh Jee also prepared their very own Birs, Followed by many other Gursikhs of the 1700s. This could explain why the Birs are inconsistent and have dissimilarities in content. Many of the writers must have found Banis ( which were not in the first Bir) and then added them into their own Sarroops. Others copied those Sarroops and produced their own. Some of the texts might have been of the Hazoori Gursikh Kavis and they were also added to Birs by writers thinking that they were Dasam Patshah's. Also, Some Pothis were left undiscovered and thus weren't added into any Bir of Dasam Granth Sahib, such as Sarbloh Prakash. I've noticed how many books containing the writings of Darbari Kavis are slowly going out of print and then out of Shelves. Would it be permissible to combine Sarbloh Prakash, Hazoori Darbari Kavis' Bani, and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib into one Bir? It could be HUGE, but that depends on the size of the letters and papers.

  22. My father-in-law passed in a tragic accident involving an 18-wheeler. He was dropping passenger(s) off at Newark airport when he slid on black ice from a previous sleet/snow storm. After the car came to a stop, my father in law checked on the passengers to make sure everyone was okay. After that he proceeded to exit the vehicle to put proper flags, caution lights, etc. out to warn any oncoming traffic. Keep in mind he lost control on an exit ramp leading to the airport. Within minutes, an 18-wheeler came barreling up and around the ramp. Losing control because of speed and other unknown reasons, the truck spun out of control. After the sheriffs arrived to the scene and began to check on everyone involved in the accident, they realized the driver (my father in law) was missing. An officer then went to investigate the surroundings in search of my Parminder. A bit later, he was discovered under the truck. He was covered in snow. After removing the snow, it was obvious he passed of blunt force trauma to the head, neck and body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. My father in law loved to give. He would give you the turban off of his head, the shirt off of his back or the very last dollar in his pocket. He was very involved in the Sikh community here in NYC and loved to make a difference. He loved everyone he met and never stopped laughing. He helped anyone and everyone he possibly could. Any and all support is and will be treasured. http://www.gofundme.com/SupportTheSinghs
