Rehta (sand) = sucham?

A friend of mine had a Mahapursh stay at his house and he tells me the Mahapursh asked him to keep some rehta in a bowl or jar in the bathroom. He didn't explain why except say it's for sucham.

Has anyone else heard of this and know what it's about?

Yes sand is used as sucham, in western sikh world- lot of people claim tapoban are ultra suchum people aka sarblohi bibeki out there but thats not really true- there are two groups who go one step further with suchumta- they are namdharis and nihangs who live in dals from india.
