Interesting Shasters

Found these in a book I recently got hold of. I found them really interesting in that they seem to be a marriage of old and new shasters. The first one is from Panjab and dates to the later part of Dasmesh Pita's physical appearance here on earth.

I once saw an image of a puratan bandook with a gandasa built into the handle/butt. If you have any images of the Khanda you mentioned, would be nice if you could post it Shaheediyan.

Historians state that the Katar was the first Dagger/Knife invented throughout all of Indo-Persia - This is a Rare type of Katar called a Scissor Katar Dagger. When the two Grip Bars are compressed together, the two outer blades freely open to the sides to reveal a hidden third center Blade. It was used to make nasty holes in chain mail and light armor. Because of its design, the full power of the thrust went straight to the point.

This one appears to have Hindu martial images engraved on the blade. Is it Shiva (with the trident) and Durga (with the sickle)?

There also used to be more powerful 'Khanda' versions available.

The kataaris were great for assasination missions! If the gunshot failed, you could always fall back on the tried and tested method!

Quote "The kataaris were great for assasination missions! If the gunshot failed, you could always fall back on the tried and tested method!"

In India they attached a gun to a knife and in Europe they put a knife to the gun (aka bayonet).

In Close Quater Battle, British soldiers are taught to keep a round or two in the magazine/breech when fighting with bayonet, in case the blade gets stuck in the enemies bones. In single firing of a round should do the trick and get the guy off your rifle!

They are probably still scared of this type of thing.....

"Here I absolutely saw the dead, as it were, killing the living. This may seem incredible to you but, to be more explicit: when a man of ours succeeded in burying his bayonet in the Seikhs body he considered him hors-de-combat, but the enemy (in his dying agonies, and determined to sell his life as dearly as possible), grasping the bayonet with the left hand and mustering a last effort, generally succeeded in dealing such a blow with his talwar from the right hand as to lay his assailant prostate, and thus they both fell mortally wounded in the fearful struggle."

Adding a gun to a Katar, such a brilliant idea. It seems this type of weapon should have been with every Sikh soldier during the Anglo Sikh war, perhaps more British soldiers would have died even if ultimately the British would have succeeded in wining.
