Indian mum 'tries to flush newborn down plane toilet'

An Indian woman gave birth to a baby in the lavatory of an international passenger plane and tried to dispose of it down the toilet, media reports in New Delhi said on Thursday.

The infant was found stuck in the toilet after the plane landed in Amritsar, northern India, and was rushed to hospital still attached to the toilet bowl, police and doctors told the Press Trust of India news agency.

HP Singh, a doctor at the Escorts Hospital near the airport, said that a team of surgeons used a saw cutter to remove the newborn's head from the toilet.

The 22-year-old mother was reported to have left the plane when it landed, and was later arrested in the airport after the cabin crew on the Turkmenistan Airlines flight found the baby.

Doctors at the hospital said the infant was in a critical condition.

Newspapers reported the mother was an unmarried medical student returning home after completing a degree abroad.

The origin of the flight was unclear, though the Indian Express said it had taken off from the city of Ashgabat in Turkmenistan.

It seems she was a student send abroad to study. She came back pregnant and decided to get rid of the poor baby rather than face her family.

Yep ur right

and with the influx of daughters being sent off to 'foren desh', this maybe begining of a new trend, no?

Can't afford contraception or to abort the baby (though more likely not knowing how to get hold of these services in the first place); getting laid by another 'student' and then just waiting for the birth of the child and dumping it.

It is hard not get away from the fact that Panjabis are a crude, savage unsophisticated people. Of course that doesn't refer to each and every individual, but the things that we hear our own getting up to begs belief on a regular basis.

So the admin cut couldn't keep her 'knickerh' on whilst abroad or at least have the brains to practice safe sex.....what a sick thing to do.....

Panjabiaan dee vukree pachaan...for all the wrong reasons these days.

dont be too quick to judge. god knows what she was going thru, when she did this. this is the kalyug repeating of Kunti and her abandoning of Karan. Im sure what she did will haunt her all her life.

You know what the problem with that is. We've let so many things slide, we've now become a quom with multiple lows: Sky high rate of female foeticide, honour killings for Sikhs marrying their own, caste worse than a Bahman, rampant drug and alcohol abuse. Girls in UK converting without a single peek back. I mean, what the hell's next?

Saddest thing is that we have no pervasive, global mechanism in the quom that can be used to help define contours of our community and challenge such practices helping us to get more progressive. We don't seem to have the ability or platform to open up community wide debates that can help facilitate change for the better.

Instead the agenda is dictated by jerks like Badal and any other shrill banshees, who cry about any little perceived 'beadbi' whilst failing to try and address the most base actions of our people, which are so shocking that any fair minded person would be disgusted by them regardless of race or religion.

sickening, there are soo many options if she does not want the baby..ie- give the baby to relates or orphanage instead of flushing an baby like a tiolet paper...is that what innocent child worth these days just an tiolet paper?

Totally sickening, this is maha paap...!

chatanga - how is this similar to kunti giving birth to Karan since Kunti was given a boon from the suryadev and she used it whilst she was single.

what i was getting at was the agony of Kunti's life every day and every time she saw Karan, knowing that she had given him up, to avoid being stigmatized by society.

OW' OKAY I GET YA

Did you fail your English GCSEs by writing in capitals?

You really seem to struggle with comprehending the basic nature of using capitalisation.

No offense but brothers need to step up with communication skills. I mean even guys who've never left India get it, so why not you? Actually knowing the standard of working class level education in the U.K. maybe I shouldn't be too shocked.

Sorry, teacher in me breaking out!!

SORRY and wills seriously bear it in mind.

dal singh you know what they say

those who can do, those who cant teach

Okay, so I can't then.

Do you know you should use capitals when writing names! Plus using fullstops at the end of sentences is a good idea bro!

I'm not being arsey, but it will make your posts seem more intelligent. Plus if we have spent most or all of our lives in a country, we should be able to master it's language, don't you think?

Dal, I am being arsey, because you have missed other errors in his sentence. Cant should be "can't" and there should be a comma between can and do, to make "can, do". And can't teach, to make it "can't, teach". This way it will make sense to people who have not followed the topic so far.

One days detention for you, one week for Pal.

Lol, if you heard the majority of ethnic Punjabi London teenagers speak today, you would certainly think it was a dungar kaum, they all sound like the spawn of Ali G! Friggin Jafaican!!

Sometimes you see a great CV of a Singh, invite him for an interview, or see a beautiful (Guru Svaroop) Singh.......... then they open their mouth.

I have always said Sikhs should take a page out of our Gur-Pitas book, and always try and achieve all we do to the highest degree possible, this includes communication/language skills. For some reason, this area is nearly always neglected.

The Punjabi some folk speak is horrendous too, properly anpa(d) pindufied! Just because your parents may have been uneducated, does not mean you need not improve your Punjabi...

Nah man, you manz iz too deep. i iz from da streets and dats how manz in the endz speak innit. Manz don't understand that peoples wearing their pent around their hips and not at least two inches down your chittar are pure waste mans. You get me blood. Nah bruv. Brap brap. Your mum's a chief bruv.

Funniest (and saddest) thing ever was a young Singhni I met. She had a dastaar and everything but as soon as she opened her mouth, it was a female version of the above....shameful.

I don't know about this. As you may have noticed I make sustained effort to develop my Panjabi language proficiency, but with that being said, I still don't have any problems with that earthy, course, foul mouthed 'jatt pendu' version of Panjabi commonly spoken in villages. It has its place too. lol

What I can't stand is that extremely nasalised type of Panjabi speech some freshies do. Sounds so gay and dumb. What a winning combo.
