All of us keep photos of Guru's in our homes but they are at times different from each other..why is there discrepency ...secondly it gives rise to another question ie when we do ardas in front of Guru ji's photos does it amount to idol worship.

Guru ji never had any intention to have their portraits but Sikhs having too much love for Gurus have made portraits of them. The famous pictures are by Sobha singh. I find them inspiring but doing Ardas in front of them is mere absurd ritual which is not allowed as per Sikhism.

The queen of Dacca (today Dhaka, Bangladesh) had ordered her artist to draw a painting of Guru Teg Bahadur when Sache Patshah was there. The painter drew the body but couldn't draw the head. Guru Sahib drew it Himself with the brush! This painting was brought to Calcutta during the 1999 Vasakhi celebrations.

lolz to SukhSingh.... GO TO THE GUDWARA WITH UR CAMERA PAGGEEEE!

But the paintings u see og the Guru's hunna, ppl wud paint them out of love say if GuruJi came into their dreams....

So maybe the paintings u see, are how GuruJi presented them to that artist.... so maybe the truth of a painting maybe in their a liccle.... or atleast the same amount of love.... or even if not that... so what, still a representation of Guuru's rite...
