What Is Shabad Guru?

Recommended Posts

That is Guru-shabad.

We use Guru-Shabad to help us get to the Shabad-Guru.

I understand that there is a difference between Shabad-Guru and Guru-shabad.

I would say they are both the same Gur Shabad being vaheguru mantra and this is the shabad guru

Dear brothers,

this is such a magnificent topic, that no matter how much we may talk upon it, but in the end, as it is wadeeayee of Wahiguru and His Naam or Shabad, we can never ever do justice to it, as it is beant, it is apaar....

Socahy soch na hovaee, jeh sochay lahk vaar.

But anyhow indeed we should continue singing and sharing His glory.

Following are some words on this topic of Fifth Patshahee in Raag Soohee :

ha-o man tan dayvaa satigurai mai maylay parabh guntaasay.

I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue.

ha-o man tan dayvaa satigurai mai maylay parabh guntaasay.

I dedicate my mind and body to the True Guru; I pray that may He unite me with God, the treasure of virtue.

gur sajan pi-aaraa mai mili-aa har maarag panth dasaahaa.

I have met my Beloved Friend, the Guru, who has shown me the Path to the Lord.

gur sundar mohan paa-ay karay, har paraym banee man maari-aa.

Finding the beautiful and fascinating Guru, I have conquered my mind, through the Bani, the Word of my Beloved Lord.

mayrai hirdai suDh buDh visar ga-ee, man aasaa chint visaari-aa.

My heart has forgotten its common sense and wisdom; my mind has forgotten its hopes and cares.

mai antar vaydan, paraym kee gur daykhat man saaDhaari-aa.

Deep within my self, I feel the pains of divine love. Beholding the Guru, my mind is comforted and consoled.

Note :Usually whenever I write something from Gurbani, I do interpret it according to my personal understanding, but today is one such ocassion that I have no words, and prefer to leave it as it is, so that each one may enjoy the "rus" from the words above of Sachay Patshah Dhan Dhan Satguru Arjun Dev Maharaj.

In the posts above, we have read something or the other of what is Shabad Guru, as per the title of this very thread.

I was just going through a passage of the Bani of First Patshahee in Raag Malar, which is much related to the present topic, and found some very inspiring and very beautiful lines, which I would like to share with all the sangat of Sikh Awareness.

In fact, it is utmost beautiful, and the very speech of Wahiguru Akal Purukh:

ਧਨ ਵਾਂਢੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਦੇਸ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਠਾਈ

Dhhan Vaandtee Pir Dhaes Nivaasee, Sachae Gur Pehi Sabadh Pathaaeanaee

The soul-bride is separated from her Husband Lord, who lives in His Own Country(Sach Khand).

He sends the Shabad, His Word(Naam), through the True Guru(Shabad Guru).

Prio Prio Karai Sabhai Hai Jaethee Gur Bhaavai Prio Paaeanaee

Everyone cries out, ""Beloved! Beloved!""

But she alone finds her Beloved, who is pleasing to the Guru.

Gur Parasaadh Ghar Hee Paragaasiaa, Sehajae Sehaj Samaaee

By Guru's Grace, He is revealed within the home of my heart; I am intuitively, naturally, absorbed into Him

* Here Guru Jee is telling us, that it is by the Grace of True Guru, that He is revealed within us, and not only that, but, we get absorbed in His Simran and Dhyan, which otherwise is as difficult as chewing iron.

We must never forget, our efforts just show our intentions in seeking Him, but, it is His Grace alone, His glance of Daya Meher on us, which makes successful our petty and tiny efforts.

After reading these pure paviter words, one´s soul, just rejoices, dances in ectasy.

One has heard and read, that Wahiguru is most benevolent and merciful.

But dear Wahiguru, I never thought You could be so merciful .....

We have always asked You for blessings, but today, this your bundha, blesses You, for being so good, so Dayalu.

Oouch Apaar Beant Soami.
