It's in Panjabi - I think it's Suraj Prakash ( @paapiman can confirm).

It's something to listen either at bedtime, or if you want to concentrate fully, or have in the background when doing something else

Is it Katha of Suraj Prakash ?

Got these books a few days ago. @dalsingh101 you mentioned a book concerning Banda Bahadur, was it the Rajasthani one?

Yeah, I think that it was one of those ones.

That Ripudaman Singh is a very interesting character. I think he had independent spirit and got shafted by the colonial rulers. If you can be ar5ed (which you haven't lately) do share any interesting excerpts.

Do you know Anita Anand's family have a history in the Sikh aristocracy. Then they converted to christianity when the raj collapsed......lol

@HSD

Bro, I think you were the one who told me this years ago. I've not found any corroborating evidence. Where did you learn this?

When we get a second, we should check Bhangu's work. My first guess is that it might be the adopted son of mata ji? Which emperor is it referring to?

Yes it's refering to Ajit Singh Palit. I didn't know that he was given Darbar Sahib by the Emperor Bahadur Shah.

I don’t think it was Anita Anand as she is from a West Punjabi family that had to move in 1947.

You’ve gotten her mixed up with Clare Nasir.

Isn't there a movie based on this novel?

Bhul chuk maaf

There are two I've seen. One is in Swedish (????) the native language of the author, I think (????), the other is in English and stars Craig Daniels (the last James Bond). Having read the novel, I can say that the one in English is infinitely more closer to the original story in the book.

The film has adult themes, and is well worth a watch (instead of the pendu and bollywood stuff apnay have too much of an appetite for).

The book is the first in a trilogy. I'm looking forward to reading the next one: The girl who played with fire.
