You must have been to Darbar Sahib, Amritsar or as a matter of fact any of the significant Gurudwras. It is quite intriguing to see all those writing/inscriptions on the pieces of marbles/stones donated by devotees from time to time. Some of them state that this stone was devoted by so and so or so and so did seva of Rs.____ etc etc.

These types of marble stones are scattered all over The Golden Temple. I wonder what is the significance of such donations and why Gurudwara Management Committees have not taken action to curb such acts. Is it a approved practice to donate things and get their names inscribed on that article. I find such markings on stones quite detrimental to the beautification of Gurudwaras of such significance. Are these inscriptions not against the teaching if our Gurus, who said that we should not perform such acts of remembrance?
