Changing Tide Towards Cholesterol? Must See Video - Watch While You Can

These days many are questioning the validity of the 'research' that was used to create the typically recommended western diet as espoused by almost all the western health institutes i.e. low fat, carbs and protein. Is fat really the villain? Do cholesterol levels really indicate susceptibility to heart diseases when some experienced specialists say that heart attack patients typically have a wide range of levels from high to low.

I have naturally high cholesterol regardless of the amount of fat in my diet. This video poses important questions; especially for us brown folk who are constantly told our diet is a 'killer'.

Watch it while it's available!!

Part 2:

This video focuses on statins and questions the claims made on their behalf. Could the pharmaceutical industry really be pulling a fast one?

Tell us what you think about Bhagat? You probably got the most medical training out of all of us. lol

Could something so fundamental and widely accepted across western medicine really be so wrong?

I took statins for a short while and they effed me up! Muscle pain and loss, memory loss which all went when I stopped taking them. But doctors don't seem to want to hear about it.

Dally trust in Indian wisdom. Ghee is considered healthy. It is recommended by vaids (doctors who study ayurved) over vegetable oil, for cooking. And we know that meditation can also help. At the basic stage it lowers your stress level, thus boosting your immune system. But it can also lower inflammation. It can ease your pains and aches in the body.

At a higher stage, it can apparently also cure serious illnesses (there is a sakhi of Guru Nanak and other gurus curing leperosy) but that's beyond my intellect lol.

Other than that I never went that far in medicine. I am just as ignorant as the next guy. One thing is for sure though. Pharmaceutical companies ARE after money. Our whole system is, hence capitalism. The system is designed not for the well-being of the citizen, but to generate profit. When money drives things, it corrupts. And drugs are no exception to it, they bring huge profits.

And thing is people also benefit from holistic medicine. Even if they are placebos to certain western minds, they work! So I would consult with a holistic doctor if I was in your position.

Could something so fundamental and widely accepted across western medicine really be so wrong?

If you enjoyed that I think you'd enjoy the work of Dr. Rupert Sheldrake. Who "questioned" (what he called) the 10 basic dogmas of science. There's also Dr Dean Radin who "questioned" western psychology, and it's failure to understand or even acknowledge certain mental phenomenon that are rather common.

I'm always looking at alternative medicines, herbs and stuff, so you are preaching to the converted. I learned when I saw an uncle nearly die (that's what it looked like!) taking white dhawaeee for diabetes who then got properly sorted out with desi ilaaj (karela, methi and exercise and meditation type stuff)

Those vids I posted were pretty much synopsis of Dr. Ben Goldacre's book Bad Pharma I posted about a while back.

A few extra interesting things in that book was the descriptions of how pharma's influence doctors to prescribe their meds. Free gifts and using 'reps' to form very personal relationships and/or using really sexy looking chicks as reps to influence. It's like the company reps keep files on docs and try and find the best fit in their repertoire to match!

Also the amount of clinical studies that get buried when they don't give the desired results is quite astonishing.

That all being said. Truth be told, if we were to ever contract a deadly disease like cancer, or AIDS we wouldn't be complaining about western meds. lol

I guess all systems have their place and strengths and weaknesses.

Goes beyond just this topic and thread.

I think stuff that requires surgery is probably the biggest strength of western practice. Also vaccinations like for small pox. Very powerful!

Cancer is.... I have heard of patients where western way of dealing with it wasn't helping at all. Like this:

karela, methi, exercise and meditation might actually be more beneficial in treating/dealing with cancer. I dunno. I haven't been paying much attention to this area.

There's a sakhi I heard where Guru Nanak meets Kaliyug. He/it? had a frightening form and in one hand he was holding a woman, and in the other hand he was holding a tongue. He said that he uses these as weapons. Make of it what you will lol.
