2. What is the significance of pause in simran? Had a very big question about this since I've been learning from PMKC sangat about pausing a bit between saying "Wah" and "Guru".

What's the reason ji?

I think it is basically called a box breathing.

Btw, one more thing that really helped me recently is I found a very short book titled "Two Talks on Japa" by Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Two important things I've learned from the book are:

1. Why do we do jap or simran?

2. What is the significance of pause in simran? Had a very big question about this since I've been learning from PMKC sangat about pausing a bit between saying "Wah" and "Guru".

Highly recommend it.

why pause between wah and guru? Wahguru is also mentioned a few times in Guru Granth Sahib, but Guru Gobind Singh said Wahe Wahe drirao, and also Waheguru Singh ko naam japaoon.  I don't understand the pausing stuff, it distorts Waheguru mantar, and plenty mahapurakh pronounce Waheguru simran normally. Sorry I just feel it's nonsense, just like the PKMC brahmgyani certificates of the past lol!  I have seen a PKMC Sunday sangat led by Ajit Singh in person, and it was just angry shouty WAeh-guru with lack of sahaj, as gurbani tells us to use sahaj. On weekdays I have seen sahaj simran, but it's still distorted waeh-guru, I will say Waheguru and I don't care if it disrupts the rest of the sangat.

I think it's all good, personally (except the Brahmgiani certificates...) !

I would be extremely wary of believing or doing anything connected with Swami Dayanand

Yeah, thanks! I only try to listen or accept what aligns with gurmat. Sometimes, another person trying to explain things helps a lot. But thank you. I love the response from the Sangat here. Hope the flower of love and devotion blossoms in my heart like you Sat Sangat. 🙏❤️

Not been on here for a long time, but I'll attempt to answer your question.....

A few reasons for the pause. 1st,  the pause is when you are neither breathing in or breathing out. it is a momentarily hold of breath. It makes sure you are listening. as in listening to the gurumantar.. when you pay attention to your focus(dhyian) at the moment you are pausing(holding breath), then you are focusing with more attention. .  just to add, a sniper or someone who is shooting a rifle or pistol at a target with precision, will, at the moment just before taking the shot, hold their breath and be in complete stillness.  In most sports, just before taking your snooker/pool shot or even a basket ball dunk, you will hold your breath at the decisive moment..

2nd, this pause or hold is your intro into getting to listen to the 'void'. For that is where the divine sounds will begin to appear.

3rd, We are in a world of duality. Duality came into existence when Waheguru blast(big bang) 'ong''emerged and creation was made. The 'singularity" of EK made the ONG, and KAR creation was made, hence "Ek ong-kar" .(see post below)  for example, we have Good-bad, dark-light, sun-moon, hot-cold etc..  The perfect place is to be neither left or right, but in the center. In the center, is the perfect balance, like a see-saw or scale when it's horizontal.  In similar fashion, amrit vela on a physical worldly level is when the moon's cooling energy is minimal and the sun's heat energy is beginning to emerge and at a point equivalent but opposite to the moon's.

Hope, the above helps you understand about duality and the importance of being still and neutral.

Is the pausing stuff not more related to the Siddhas who Guru Nanak met?

Really?

Why be on this thread if reluctant to learn or try practical?   Where do my posts demonstrate an affiliation to a cult?

When Guruji met them, what did he say about putting his focus?

Pause in breath helps to concentrate the mind on Jap

Maaroo, First Mehla:

Heat up the sun energy of the right nostril, and cool down the moon energy of the left nostril; practicing this breath-control, bring them into perfect balance.

In this way, the fickle fish of the mind will be held steady; the swan-soul shall not fly away, and the body-wall will not crumble. ||1||

You fool, why are you deluded by doubt?

You do not remember the detached Lord of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||

Seize and burn the unbearable; seize and kill the imperishable; leave behind your doubts, and then, you shall drink in the Nectar.

In this way, the fickle fish of the mind will be held steady; the swan-soul shall not fly away, and the body-wall shall not crumble. ||2||

Nanak humbly prays, if the Lord's humble servant dwells upon Him, in his mind of minds, with his every breath, then he drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar.

In this way, the fickle fish of the mind will be held steady; the swan-soul shall not fly away, and the body-wall shall not crumble. ||3||9||
