That's the best thing to do, but it is not possible to keep doing that for long hours. I am looking for some other practical steps.

For example, if you get attacked by this demon at a workplace or when doing groceries - what to do?

You need to start monitoring your thoughts !

Thoughts -->> Intentions --->> Actions

Ask yourself--where, what, which thought provoked the fire within ?

slowly...and gradually...you will be able to address most of your own daily krodh surges.

It may seem real tricky at first, but once you get into the swing of it...you should be able to divert that same energy towards self spiritual gains..

The same technique can also be used for Kaam as well.

Create a gap in the stream of mind, disconnect yourself from thoughts to the point you can see your thoughts flowing in you or under you, thoughts does not happen to you but thoughts happen in you as soon as you can witness your thoughts its big leap in itself, you will stop clinging to them and that point slowly but surely you can be established in your real self- pure consciousness. This is as practical you can get, as soon as thoughts come- hold on to sense of consciousness you will find right way witness option where you can witness the thoughts without any influence from thoughts, more and more practise it will also help.

Above isn't easy but this get as practical as possible- consciousness(surat) is always there in everyone, just hold on to consciousness identify with it- it will create a divide between you and thoughts/emotional thoughts/five vices thoughts, from there and there is room for abidance and transcendence from thoughts (stop clinging to them let it go as clouds appear and disappear) while it does not affect witness and witness consciousness is sky.

simple thing is walk away from situation.

under krodh, our buddhi gets hijacked,

just get away from situation, go for a walk, try to cool down,

it wont go away right away , it will linger, sleep on it for the night, next day will be better

krodh happens when our ego is hurt, when we feel insecure, or when someone insults/hurts. make the situation in ur advantage, stand your ground in a composed manner, take it as a challenege

or sometimes when our desires r not fulfilled, we get angry, like throwing tantrums like kids

avoid the situation that leads to it .

hope that helps

The below might help too.

Quote

When you get angry, say: I seek refuge in God from the accursed evil (A'oudhou billaahi min as shaytaan ir rajeem). The prophet (p.b.u.h.) ordered us to say thus.

When Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) got angry, he dragged her by the nose and said: " O dear Aaisha, say: O God, you are the Lord of my prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.), forgive my sins and remove the anger from my heart and save me from misguidance."

If anger does not go by this means,
you will sit down if you are standing, lie down if you are sitting, and come near to earth, as you have been created of earth. Thus, make yourself calm like the earth. The cause of wrath is heat and its opposite is to lie down on the ground and to make the body calm and cool.

The prophet (p.b.u.h.) said: "Anger is a burning coal. Don't you see your eyebrows wide and eyes reddish? So when one of you feels angry, let him sit down if standing, and lie down if sitting."

If still anger does not stop,
make ablution with cold water or take a bath, as fire cannot be extinguished without water.

The prophet (p.b.u.h.) said: "When one of you gets angry, let him make ablution with water as anger arises out of fire. "In another narration, he said: "Anger comes from the devil and the devil is made of fire."

Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "The prophet (p.b.u.h.) did not get angry for any action of the world. When any true matter charmed him, nobody knew it and nobody got up to take revenge for his anger. HE GOT ANGRY ONLY FOR TRUTH."

What if I get angry when I'm lying down?

One perception also helps from transcendence from anger is to consider yourself as primordial peace instead of getting to peace, just simply recognize/identify with pure silence between words, gap between thoughts, consecutive thoughts that will help loosen to our clinging to our thoughts structure under which all these emotions, five vices arises.
