Encourage others too ....Meditation.

Recommended Posts

I use to do meditation, sittin straight pose on a zen cushion for about 1-2 hours. Did nothing but observe thoughts. Okay you will get all kinds of physical and mental experiences, bottom line and to the ultimate level its no use !

There is a verse by Guru Gobind Singh ji "What is the use of trying to sit like a crane all day long foolin people."

I have seen people sittin all day long in meditation like statue.

Now my practice is what I try to do 24 hours. sitting and doing simran, walking, standing, listenning to kirtan, going in guru sangat (MOST POWERFUL) and this is what my spiritual practice constitues of and doing this with all passion.

Formal practice like the one you are asking begins after midnight (attack time).. thats when u do real simran with passion ! wether u do it sitting or walking or lying down .. its all okay. I know people with great spirituality who only do simran walking to and fro ! all they do is jaap naam.

dude the bottom line is ***LOVE***, you can get that even without simran or seva and if you get it you might feel like doing both. Sitting in meditation or doing hatha is just bahana and all outwardly stuff.

This is today's hukamnama from Sri Darbad Sahib, August

Dhanaasree mehlaa 1.

Dhanaasaree, First Mehl

nadar karay taa simri-aa jaa-ay.

If the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then one remembers Him in meditation.

aatmaa darvai rahai liv laa-ay.

The soul is softened, and he remains absorbed in the Lord's Love.

aatmaa paraatamaa ayko karai.

His soul and the Supreme Soul become one.

antar kee dubiDhaa antar marai. ||1||

The duality of the inner mind is overcome. ||1||

gur parsaadee paa-i-aa jaa-ay.

By Guru's Grace, God is found.

har si-o chit laagai fir kaal na khaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.

One's consciousness is attached to the Lord, and so Death does not devour him. ||1||Pause||

sach simri-ai hovai pargaas.

Remembering the True Lord in meditation, one is enlightened.

taa tay bikhi-aa meh rahai udaas.

Then, in the midst of Maya, he remains detached.

satgur kee aisee vadi-aa-ee.

Such is the Glory of the True Guru;

putar kaltar vichay gat paa-ee. ||2||

in the midst of children and spouses, they attain emancipation. ||2||

aisee sayvak sayvaa karai.

Such is the service which the Lord's servant performs,

jis kaa jee-o tis aagai Dharai.

that he dedicates his soul to the Lord, to whom it belongs.

saahib bhaavai so parvaan.

One who is pleasing to the Lord and Master is acceptable.

so sayvak dargeh paavai maan. ||3||

Such a servant obtains honor in the Court of the Lord. ||3||

satgur kee moorat hirdai vasaa-ay.

He enshrines the image of the True Guru in his heart.

jo ichhai so-ee fal paa-ay.

He obtains the rewards which he desires.

saachaa saahib kirpaa karai.

The True Lord and Master grants His Grace;

so sayvak jam tay kaisaa darai. ||4||

how can such a servant be afraid of death? ||4||

bhanat naanak karay veechaar.

Prays Nanak, practice contemplation,

saachee banee si-o Dharay pi-aar.

and enshrine love for the True Word of His Bani.

taa ko paavai mokh du-aar.

Then, you shall find the Gate of Salvation.

jap tap sabh ih sabad hai saar. ||5||2||4||

This Shabad is the most excellent of all chanting and austere meditations. ||5||2||4||
