Anyone know any cures for insomnia??

Most appreciated.

Avoid heavy spicy stuff post evening ..and train your mind to focus and slow down ..insomnia starts with thoughts racing across your mind, maybe due to stress and worries . Deep breathing and meditation will be very helpful.

There are plenty of youtube videos with natural healing sounds such as - rain, streams, waterfalls, ocean..those can help also.

I've dealt with insomnia since I was young. It went away for a good few years and just popped back up recently.

I think having coffee just before training in the evening probably doesn't help.

Bro, avoid any caffeinated drink, at least 8-10 hours before sleeping.

That's hard man.... lol

Then, try at least 6. Bro, try for some days and see if that makes a difference or not.

Did you check the Shabad Sidhi granth? Is insomnia mentioned in it?

Yes. I do go caffeine free periodically. I guess it's time again. Just got to use up that pot of double cream I just bought! lol

Bro, try doing jaap of the following shabad. This shabad is part of Sri Dukh Bhanjani Sahib jee. It seems, one of the reasons Satguru jee has uttered it, is to cure sleep related disorders.

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:

The disease is gone; God Himself took it away.

I sleep in peace; peaceful poise has come to my home. ||1||Pause||

Eat to your fill, O my Siblings of Destiny.

Meditate on the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart. ||1||

Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru,

who has preserved the honor of His Name. ||2||8||26||

I love that shabad. I don't think it was specifically designed to be an insomnia cure though... lol

Bro, do you know the uthanka?

Bhul chuk maaf

No I don't.

Not every shabad has an uthanka bro.

DalsinghDalsingh, I suggest a physical activity with bhabiji will surely make you go to sleep afterwards.

Bro, you can also do a jaap of that shabad using Sampat bidhi. First, recite Mool mantar, then the shabad (recite Satnaam Sri Waheguru, where ever there is a number) and then mool mantar at the end too. For the last tuk, recite mool mantar after the word "ਰਖਾਈ ". Then recite "Satnaam Sri Waheguru" three times, as there are three numerals at the end. This Bidhi increases the effectiveness of the shabad.

Some more Shabads, related to sleep:

So sleep in peace, and don't worry.

But when I dedicated my mind, body and intellect to my Lord and Master, then I began to sleep in peace. ||3||

They awaken in peace and poise; they sleep in peace and poise.

Listen, O my companions: now I sleep well, since I found my Husband Lord.

Give them up, and sleep in intuitive peace and poise.

By His Grace, you sleep in a cozy bed;

I sleep in peace and poise.

Come to me, O blessed sleep - perhaps I will see my Husband Lord again.

Please bless servant Nanak, O God, with such understanding, that abandoning false hopes, he may always sleep in peace. ||2||

and now, sleep seems sweet to me.

The Lord is the friend and companion of His devotees; all His humble servants stretch out and sleep in peace.

I sleep in total peace and comfort; I have conquered the whole world. ||2||

The happy soul-brides sleep in peace; they find their Husband Lord, the treasure of virtue. ||3||

So I have abandoned sadness, and I now sleep without anxiety. ||3||

They sleep in peace, and intuitively merge into the Lord. The Guru takes away their cynicism and doubt.

O Nanak, the blessed soul-brides sleep in peace; they are in love with their Husband Lord. ||2||

I think weather changes play a part too. I find it harder to sleep in warm weather.
