This lady was very dominant. Her name was ਘੁਰਕੀ , which could mean warning or scolding.

This can possibly indicate:

  • Aggressive woman
  • Ill-mannered woman

The adjective used for the male is  ਮੁਰਦਾਰ:

This can possibly indicate:

  • Immoral person
  • Poor person
  • Weak person/Coward
  • Person with no self-respect/dignity

Anthriv Arths:

This lady could possibly represent:

  • Maya
  • Kaljug
  • Anger
  • Cleverness
  • Violence

The husband could possibly represent:

  • Weak mind
  • Cowardice/Fear
  • Emotional (Raag)
  • Attachment (Moh)

The two eyes :

  • One eye indicates Gyan (Knowledge)
  • The other eye indicates Sharda (Devotion)

Any connections?

Anthriv Arth:

It states in the Charitar that the husband could hear some noises, as the lady could not close his ears completely.

ਸ੍ਰਵਨਨ ਕਛੁ ਖਰਕੋ ਸੁਨੈ ਇਕ ਚਖੁ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਹੇਰਿ ॥

His one eye has been covered, so he is effectively blind (as he is one-eyed).

In a deeper sense, this could possibly indicate that even though when Maya has taken over a person's mind, he can still hear the voice of God emitting from inside. We, as humans, should strive to investigate the source of this voice.

These charitars now remind be about the stories/tales is upanishads, the puzzles, the koans, that force the reader to think and analyze, and come up with possible interpretations. Great Job.

Again these are the things that come to my mind: an old, handicapped & poor man could not satisfy his wife. The wife was of a ___ nature and clever enough to deceive the guy. The guy was also blind in lust, literally in one eye. His ears were blocked literally by his wife, and symbolically in a way that he couldn't realize what was going on.

Bottom line: Lust can make you blind & deaf. In that moment, you lose awareness. We all know how true this can be.

Waheguru.

Simply, put the man can be seen as jeev and the woman can represent maya/illusion who plays various tricks with this jeev making jeev blind & deaf to obvious realities. The reality that there is something beyond the sight & hearing. The Nirankar , who is beyond the grasp of 5 senses.

Also infatuations. Like when normal people become stalkers of celebrities etc. Lust may not be part of the equation but because the stalkers thinking is now acting irrationally their judgement will be clouded.

The one-eye of the husband could possibly also indicate his Sharda (devotion) towards his wife, as it says

ਸੋ ਯਾ ਪਰ ਰੀਝਤ ਨਹੀ ਯਾ ਕੇ ਵਾ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥੪॥

(................as if she was his life and soul)

He has lost his other eye of Gyan and that is why he is not able to comprehend the fact that his wife is cheating on him.

To me the "one eye" here represents fairness/equality. Have you heard the Panjabi saying "ek akh naal dekhiya kar" ? See things with one eye? It means be fair, equal and just etc.

Brilliant Paaji.

Lesson for Rulers/Politicians/Leaders:

You are suppose to have one single eye so that you can mete out proper justice. You have to be fair, just, non-biased, non-dual, etc. in your dealings.

According to Niddar's book, Sada Nand in this Charitar seems to be a Sikh of Sri Satguru jee (Tenth Master).

ਪਰੋ ਸਦਾ ਮੋਰੇ ਰਹੈ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਭੇਵ ਅਧੇਰ ॥੮॥

This line can be translated as "This person (Sada Nand) used to stay at my place (Guru saab's place), but he was not aware of the extra-marital activities of his wife".

Interesting perspective. How are you finding the analysis so far? Is it deep and enlightening or just basic?
