In a deeper sense, this could possibly indicate that even though when Maya has taken over a person's mind, he can still hear the voice of God emitting from inside. Great Job. Again these are the things that come to my mind: an old, handicapped & poor man could not satisfy his wife. The wife was of a ___ nature and clever enough to deceive the guy. The guy was also blind in lust, literally in one eye. His ears were blocked literally by his wife, and symbolically in a way that he couldn't realize what was going on. Have you heard the Panjabi saying "ek akh naal dekhiya kar" ? See things with one eye? It means be fair, equal and just etc. The person in the story has only 1 eye so he is being fair/upholding equality/being just etc which are all the qualities of a good and kind King. The wise minister has told the King that the woman covered her husbands "one eye" therefore making him unable to uphold fairness/equality/justice . The noise is a representation that everything is not as it seems, but because the eye is covered the husband is not questioning it, even though he should know better.
