Importance of tiger skin during meditation

Recommended Posts

I will be posting some material that I came across regarding tiger skins, and some pictures of Mahapurush who used them.

"If you can get a good tiger-skin or deer-skin, it is all the more better. A tiger-skin has got its own advantages. It generates electricity in the body quickly and does not allow leakage of electric current from the body. It is full of magnetism." -   Swami Sivananda

Sridhara Swami's Commentary

The rule regarding the sitting place for meditation is being given by Lord Krishna. The word sucau means clean and sanctified and that is the conditions to begin. The reason why a deer skin or tiger skin or other skins are used is because when one sits upon them poisonous creatures such as scorpions and snakes do not like to wander upon such skins and thus will not bite when one is in meditative trance performing yoga or the science of the individual consciousness attaining communion with the ultimate consciousness.

"All I know about Avdhoot Sadhus is that they have so much sadhana or hatha yoga that they have controlled the flow of semen in their body, leading upwards which becomes OJAS and nourishes their brain and spirituality. Also , they are so firm that they do not let a drop of semen shed even during dreams in night. They are perfect in their Brahmacharya. However, if they have haumai or ego, all their efforts go waste. For them Guru Ji says that if one could attain God through semen retention then Khusra Eunech would attain salvation first.

However, Guru Ji also instructs to not let a drop of semen shed even during dreasm ..supne bind na deyi jhadna...

Such Mahapurakhs are very rare who are completely established in Brahmacharya of Mind & Body... jin mil mareyo panch soorbir aisa kaun bali re...  Baba Nand Singh Ji would hint at Baba Ishar Singh ji as the only amongst other sewadars who was free of Vishe Vikar and had crushed 5 demons under his feet. Only a Mahapurakh who has crushed all the 5 evils and trickery of Maya , can sit on a tiger skin...thus you see Baba Nand Singh Ji & Baba Ishar Singh Ji on tiger skins, and they have to be avdhoots & bal brahmacharis. If a grihasthi sits on a tiger skin, he will be destroyed karmically.

For householders, Bhagat Kabir ji recommends a Deer-Skin to sit upon while meditating on God.mrigshala par baithe kabir..."  - ragmala

Yes, especially in light of solar energy being more dominant as we move deeper into kali-yug; even the fairer sex is becoming more solar...

Mantras and yogic postures are given out like cheap drugs these days. Back when there were enough genuine lineages, such things were prescribed by realised souls to worthy aspirants based up each individual's chemical, psychic, and karmic balance.

There is no need of anything to connect our surtee with Waheguru, for it is something subtle and spiritual.

It is only purity of mind what we need, and His kirpa.

Tiger skins, deer skins or any other materials or objects made of the 5 tattwas, are all useless, where spirituality is reffered to.

Spirituality  and our relation with God, is not like the need of umbrella in rain, just as the case of any skins as mentioned above.

It is concentration, it is purity, it is staying focused in our bhagti what is needed, for when one truly loves Him through His devotion, He Himself makes Himself available to us.

If any such thing apart from purity in mind and heart was needed, for sure our Guru Jee the supreme authority in spirituality, would have mentioned it in the Bani, so please for god´s sake, let us stop manipulating or twisting spirituality with our limitedness and let us follow what Guru Jee says, for only that is the highest Truth.

This post is not in putting down anyone, but, bringing to the surface the simplicity and transparency of the Bani, anything which does not enter the parameteres of the Bani, should be discarded off without any regrets, for it goes against the teachings of Guru Jee.

Bani is important, the teachings in it are important, nothing else matters, if it does not match with it.

Tiger Skin is only for those Mahanpurush Karak Avtars who are sent and certified by Nirankar Ji  themselves to perform certain duties in this world. Its one of the highest representation and symbolism of Shakti and Bhagti.  Bhagti sitting on Shakti,i.e. Bhagti with full control over Shakti. Shakti is the creative form of Nirankar Ji. Dusht Daman ji also used tiger skin during their meditations, and even helped A form of Shakti to fight against Demons, by manifesting many tigers from the Tiger Skin. Sitting on a tiger has way advanced symbolism than our minds can comprehend. Tiger is also the mind that we have to kill in order to meet Nirankar ji. ..

Guru Granth Sahib ji mentions that Bhagat Kabir ji also used deer skin as his asana.

Having said the above, what does it mean for a common householder like you and me ? We should just acknowledge it and thats it. Skins are not going to do anything for us. For us, a simple clean sheet to sit on or a simple woolen asana should suffice. An asana basically stores your vibrations so it assists in meditation as a beginner. Even if we dont have an asana its ok.

More important than anything, TRUE SELFLESS LOVE ❤️ IS ALL THATS NEEDED IN BHAGTI!

Shakti is not a creative form of Nirankar, shakti is more related to hinduism as a consort of the Shiva for example.

The creative form of Waheguru/Nirankar is Shabad, is Naam, as seen in Gurbani:

Outhapath Paralo Sabadhae Hovai ||  Sabadhae Hee Fir Oupath Hovai ||

Creation and destruction happen through the Word of the Shabad.   Through the Shabad, creation happens again.

What to say about tigers or demons if any within/without, when their master Kaal Purukh and the messengers of death are fought with the Nam bhakti.  A sikh has only Satguru/Waheguru as his rakhanhaar. Guru meray sang sadaah hae naalay.

For Gods sake, let us not dilute and twist Gurmat. Gurmat is Gurbani, the teachings of Guru Jee and Waheguru alone, rest is all paraphernalia

Let us not see and follow what other dharmas lay importance in their beliefs, many of our sikhs are tainted with more or less amount of  hindu concepts and their deities, which is a pity,   but let us pay more close attention on Gurbani. Of course some points are common, but nothing can be compared to Gurmat, for it is the only path which leads us to Waheguru. And that is because they are distracted with shaktis, forms, varities, demons, gods, etc  etc and etc ..... while Gurmat is only Waheguru.

If we still believe in other complimentary things to be added in our bhagtee, that means we are still weak in understanding Gurmat.

Gur Thae Saath Bhagath Karae Dhin Raathee Gun Kehi Gunee Samaavaniaa ||1|| Rehaao ||

From the Guru comes peace and tranquility; worship Him with devotion, day and night. Chanting His Glorious Praises, merge into the Glorious Lord.

Gur Kai Thakeeai Naam Adhhaarae ||

The Guru is their cushion, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is their Support

See the transparency and simplicity in Satguru´s words, He says that, whosoever does his Naam bhagtee, the Guru Himself is the cushion and support of that sikh.

That explains...i m out .

No, you are not out.

It is only not correct to say that "shakti is a creative form of Nirankar Ji", because it is not.

His creative form as per Bani is Shabad or Nam only.

Bani is sacred, Bani is pure, we should be careful in not mixing it with other things, or interpreting it out of context.

Guest Substitute for deer skin

Guruji, what alternative of deer skin we have? Now a days, thought we may somehow manage to get deer skin, but that will be from a hunted deer, not from one which naturally died. Also, if luck is bad, one may fall in trap of law. I will be using a kusha mat, over that any deer skin alternative. Over that a pure wool mat. The woolen mats available in market are made of acrylic wool, which is in fact not wool but chemical with no significance for sadhana. So, I will buy merino wool and get a mat knit by someone. And over that I will put a piece of ahimsha silk.
Instead of deer skin can we use sheep skin or just a cotton filled cushion?
