What type of Salutation?

I had a question. So I have been using Sat Sri Akaal my whole life but now my grandparents say Say fateh but for me it seems weird to use fateh with like family friends and like relatives should I be strong start using fateh or it doesn’t matter? Please answer this.

"Sat Sri Akaal" is a war/battle cry. It is a bit surprising that a war cry, became a common greeting among Sikhs. In the past, Sikhs (non-Amritdharis) probably said Sat Kartaar, when they met each other.

You should try to greet all Sikhs, by uttering the Fateh.

People saying sat sri akaal is out of lazyness as they have shortened the battle cry bole so nihal sat sri akal. A sikh is instructed to greet another sikh by saying waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh. Normally i hear the sat sri akaal amongst culutural sikhs or mone. Sikhs use waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh.
