I need help…

Sounds like you are fighting your Egoic mind.  This is commonplace especially when one comes in to spiritual practices.  The ego knows its grip is being threatened - so don't be disheartened it's a positive sign that you are on the right path.

Learn to observe your thoughts without trying to engage in them.  Only because you are having negative thoughts doesn't mean you have to believe the thoughts to be your truth.

Mindfulness practices are great for training the brain to step back from and see thoughts as temporary.  Mantra mindfulness is the next level to this and is great for meditation.  You can practice mantra mindfulness at all times - doing chores, walking etc keep a mantra going.  This takes practice but helps to stop you getting too caught up in the thought process.

What helps for me is reading about Guru Sahib or katha to explain paath.  This way you will increase your relationship with Guru Sahib and I find it easier to concentrate on reading Bani as I can connect better with the gyan.

Try this for 21 times,  do Ardas daily whenever you remember, wherever you are, whatever you are doing to Waheguru to help you.  It would work!

O God, (tau kirpa te) it is with Your grace that (maarag paaiai) we find the right path in life,

it is with Your grace that (chhutai) release from (banadhan)
