Small farmer's life is really tough in india with no help from govt. or technology or from agricultural universities.

Do you think there are too many farmers and some of them need to find a different field of work?

If small farmers dont have technology.  Maybe you can start a company that rents out farm equipment cheaply?

I m able to sustain my family as I m not a small farmer. Moreover, I hv income sources other than agriculture too.

You mentioned in a post you were greeb.

How do you sell your product?  Do you sell direct to consumers?

I would love to grow hemp if it gets legalized. At present we grow wheat, rice, sugarcane and groundnuts.

India is overpopulated. Too many farmers and smaller land holdings.

MSP(minimum support price) is available only in North Indian manddis and that too for few crops

Hemp ethanol would cost about a quarter of what gasoline costs at the pump with just a fraction of the government subsidies – if we grew more of it – bio-fuel expert Tim Castleman says.

1. How come southern India doesn't need MSP?

2. Can you give a breakdown of how much is the MSP for a crop?

3. Are you aloud to sell your crop to individuals or does it have to be manddis?

4. If bhang is illegal then how do Nihang Singhs get there hand on it?

5. Are there any food companies that will buy your crop?

6. You think it's time that Punjab move away significantly from agriculture into other fields?

Just Google bro.

In the recent farmer protests , there were 2 main demands by the farmers.

1. Proper MSP for all crops.

2. Farmers shud be able to sell their crops in manddis and not to private players.

Allow me draw a parallel. You're an opium addict. You've been liberally eating from an ancient stash of free pills. They are running out. So you do all the math and find that yes, this one poppy plant is THE most cost effective one to get all your opium from. Then you do that math and find out it takes 98 percent of your farmable land (note study didn't define farmable).

Now. That doesn't mean you haven't determined the best poppy to grow to feed your addiciton, the problem is your addiction is that big.

I think the world has already chosen alternative to oil and that is EV. Even in India they are promoted in big way

Yes. Good point. Which will leave a certain amount of oil we'll need yet. It doesn't all get turned into gas. Which means we don't need farm it all just some. Which means mythbusters busted again.

If Pakistan border opens, sikh farmer in punjab will get very good money for selling his crops.

It's the other way around . Pakistani farmers will sell their products in India. Everything is cheaper in Pakistan as 1$ =212 PKR. Pakistan is cheapest country in world

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/amritsar/punjab-open-attari-wagah-border-for-better-trade-says-navjot-singh-sidhu/articleshow/88099124.cms

Navjot Singh sidhu on Saturday claimed that if the traditional Silk Route was opened, Punjab would have a meteoric rise in economic growth.

========================

He said the opening of Attari-Wagah trade wouldn’t just benefit Punjab, but rest of India too since it would open gates to 34 countries to trade.

=======================

I assure that the MSP on wheat and paddy would increase within days of the opening of the border with Pakistan and so would the prices of other vegetables,” he said, adding that 60 years of development would be achieved within six months of opening of trade via Attari/Wagah borders.

We will try to ensure that the border with Pakistan, near Wagha, gets opened as the neighbouring country is facing a wheat shortage whereas we have sufficient stock of the food grain. Our Basmati farmers are selling their produce for Rs 3,000 per quintal but if the same is sold in Iran, the farmers would get Rs 9,000 per quintal,” said Mann during a brief media interaction at his house in Sangrur.

The resuming of business would revive the ₹250-crore dry fruits trade, which would benefit a large section of people directly and indirectly, including daily wage earners and transporters, he said

Hemp farming will also be great for Punjab's soil and water.

Hemp replenishes the soil.

Requires less water.

Doesn't require pesticides.

Can grow easily even in less fertile areas.

Rice farming and cotton farming shud be stopped in punjab.

https://www.marijuanamoment.net/pakistani-government-official-harvests-nations-first-legal-hemp-crops/#:~:text=The Pakistani cabinet approved a,CBD-based medicines and more.

Pakistan has made hemp farming legal.

In India, only a few states can legally grow hemp and that's sad....
