:o UI've seena couple of quotes where it is mention in Gurbani that

THe SUn is the LAmp and the Moon reflects its light

but in "Kirtan" Sohela it says :

Upon that cosmic plate of the sky, the sun and the moon are the lamps. The stars and their orbs are the studded pearls.

gagan mai thaal rav chand deepak banay taarikaa mandal janak motee.

can any1 explain this to me :?

"In the Fear of God, the sun shines, and in the Fear of God, the moon REFLECTS. They travel millions of miles, endlessly." - L.19 P.465, SGGS

Satguru Nanak is not stateing anything factual in the above in Sohila.Satguru is alluding to Arti that is done in Hindu temples towards the temple deity.Satguru is describing the Arti which is performed by Nature, the Arti of Vahiguru.Understand? :D

It's beautiful poetic prose by Satguru, poetic prose isn't meant to be scientific! :D

bro, dont' take the literal meaning of being Lit.

The Moon is being Lit by the rays of the sun. As is the Candle being lit by fire. The wick in the candle does not have its own fire, but it must be lit by another source.

The moon(candle) is being a lamp, the source is the Sun(fire).

hope this helps
