Popular Post Jaap84 Posted February 18 Popular Post Report Share Posted February 18 VJKK VJKF, I have a really really really strong desire to be given Amrit but I don’t know if I am ready because I have a couple of problems: 1. I have problems with lust and I do actions which I regret and make me feel really guilty. How do I solve this? 2. I also have problems with my anger and can get annoyed with my own sibling so how can I not get annoyed and not feel angry? 3. I never had the naming ceremony (but my name is a Sikh name) so would I need to change my name?(Personally I don’t want too) I can read Gurmukhi and started my santhia(am on Jaap Sahib). I have also watched The WhyGuru? Course and it has increased my knowledge. Also how much path or Simran Jaap should one do as in what do the Sant and Mahapurkhas say? Taking Amrit isn't for the perfect it's for the disciplined. If you don't do Bajjur Kurehit then Amrit it a go, just keep working on yourself. For Amritdhari Nitnem is bare minimum. Some more tips (from another topic): Diet control - Avoid spicy food, garlic, eating from outside, caffeine products, etc. Try to eat simple food and do not over eat. Do Naam Simran before and after eating food. Before you go to sleep, recite Sri Kirtan Sohela Sahib jee 5 times, instead of one. Do Jaap of Rakheya de shabad. This won't take much time. Keep playing Gurbani on an audio player, while you are asleep. When you wake up, immediately start doing Jaap of Mool Mantar or any Shabad which you like. Keep the mala/counter nearby. Engage in physical workouts (or go for long walks), when sexual thoughts attack. Wash your hands, feet and face with cold water (or take a cold shower), when sexual thoughts attack and then start doing Naam Simran. Start listening to Katha and Kirtan, when sexual thoughts attack. For most people, one can concentrate in them, better than Naam Simran/Nitnem. Start playing a game or watching a documentary or engage in any other activity, which can assist you in diverting your mind away from sexual thoughts. If a Sikh's name wasn't based on the first letter of the Hukamnama (which should have been taken after his/her birth by the parents), then the Panj Pyare will give you a new letter (based on the Hukamnama at your Amrit Sanchaar) to choose a new name. Like for example, if your name is Gurjant and the Hukamnama on the day of your Amrit Sanchaar also starts with "G", then you may keep your old name. I would recommend these books which have helped me to gain more understanding of Gurmat as they are in English so i will make a list as they are very good reading material. Divine Mystic Reflections on Gurmat Book 1 & 2 & The Miracle of Ardaas these books are amazing and they changed my life a lot. Se Kinehiya By Baba Sewa Singh. This book is amazing journey of Baba Harnam Singh Ji a very good book full of pratical experinces. In search of the true guru. by Bhai Rama Singh Ji i have read bits of online as i don't have a copy. This is a eye opener of one's journey to Sikhi from Hinduism searching for answers. Bhai Sahib Raghbir Singh Bir Ji is another good choice as i want to buy their books. Andhitee Duniya by Bhai Randhir Singh Ji (although i have not read all of it it has very distrubing truths of death and the soul ghosts etc according to gurmat and personal experinces) Anhad Shabad Dasam duaar by Bhai Randhir Singh ji a detalied glimpse of the stages of simran. Although i have read bits not full. Jail Chittiaan and Autobiogrphy of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh. I don't have this book but i read online bits of it it is really good. I have heard how peoples life got changed by reading this book is amazing of how Bhai Randhir SIngh Ji was a Gursikh and his journey from college to jail is a masterpiece. Now that the thought of taking Amrit has entered you, do not falter and go ahead with Amrit. Kirpa will happen by itself, once you make that one step towards your Guru , Guru Sahib will handle every other problem for you. I myself am 17 years old, I was blessed with Amrit di daat on Vaisakhi 2021. I too was 15 then. Do not worry at all. The kirpa you get from taking Amrit is something that will make sure you never falter. Once you take Amrit you will realize the presence of Guru Sahib himself. Guru Sahib is Ang Sang and Hazaara Hazoor. He is ever present with his Khalsa. That realization comes in and doesn't let your conscience do paap. Whole day you would just feel like reading Gurbani. Go ahead and take Amrit, do not hesitate. Guru Sahib Ji sacrificed his whole family without hesitating, to give us the Amrit di daat. We should not hesitate either. As for the Kaam and Krodh, if you cannot read Gurbani yet then just start listening to Sukhmani Sahib and do ardas every day. Guru Sahib will do kirpa.
