dear guru siikh brothers and sisters, we are lucky that we have were born in sikh family and have become attached to sikh religion. All thing about the Sikh religion are different and wonderful than other religions. Also our way of understading guru's teachings are different and more wonderful than other religions. Some religions worship stones,idols, snakes,tombs, graves. But in sikh religion only "Shabad" meaning "Bani" is thought to be the way of getting gyan.There is no other religion in this world which accepts "Shabad" as their guru and only worships "Shabad".

So lets think more about this topic to understand the importance of shabad. If you burst the ear drums of a newly born child and send him off to a place where he/she will not hear any kind of shabad ( word ) then when the child has grown up he will become dumb ( not being able to speak ). This is the reason why someone who is deaf from birth stays dumb. He/she wont be able to say anything. Even though his throat, tounge, (something) is perfectly capable of speaking.

Humans are only able to speak as much as they can hear.

Guru Nanak dev ji said "Jeta Sune Teta Bikhiyane"

Meaning that humans are only able to speak as much as they have heard. The only way to enlightement for a human is Shabad. And the one who gives enlightement is called "Guru"

That is the nature of the guru.When Sabad is recieved from true guru then that is worth worshipping.

If we listen to and follow the shabad given by the true guru then god comes close to us and gives us darshan. So inorder for this to happen listen to shabads carefully. This is the reason that Teachings of the true Gurus and True Bhagats ( who we always thinking about god ) is included in Guru Granth sahib ji. Guru Gobind Singh ji said to his singhs

" Sabh sikhan ko hukam hai, Guru Manyo granth"
