I have heard about this 'sant' and read from many websites about wot he gets up 2, i dnt knw if they r true or not,i also knw sum hardcore faithful followers of this sant. i wanted to knw whether or not this is all true about this 'sant' or is it slander.

His followers claim it b all slander, and untrue, even the reports on drinking. but u have reputable newspapers sayin that he was convicted of drink driving with dates. i personally dont care wot he does, but is he really abusin his power?? i knw it is also written in the Nanaksari Reht that u cant drink, and from wot i have been told by his most faithful followers that he even done katha against drinking, now if he has been caught drink driving i dnt knw wot to think :?

The people i knw have told me to ignore itcause it is all lies, but i am worried for them that they r following this guy blindly.

When i askd y doesnt he sue them, or sumin to that effect they said that he is no longer with us (his soul) and he dont care about such slanderous acts by people. :? pls help i dnt knw wot to say to these people

i will include the article with all the links that i hvae found regarding this 'sant'

By STAFF

The Sikh Times, Jan. 30, 2003

The following allegations were recently posted on an Internet discussion group by a person who wished to remain anonymous. The allegations refer to Harnek Singh Grewal of the Baba Buddha Ji Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple which has two locations as follows:

224-226 Foleshill Road, Coventry, U.K. CV1 4HW

18691 Westminster Highway, Richmond, B.C., Canada [Phone: (604) 270-7369]

---

"It is with great regret that I must speak out on the activities of the Nanaksar Coventry sect. Their baba [leader] whom they call Maharaj Ji must answer to the following charges from the sangat [community]:"

---

"1. At the age of 67 he has recently been enjoying the sexual company of a 22 year old girl who has recently had his baby."

---

"2. He has not married this girl according to any custom (let alone according to sikh custom)."

---

"3. She is a Brahmin [upper caste] Hindu who does not believe in Sikhism."

---

"4. He is currently facing charges in Canada of misusing the money collected from the sangat [as offerings]. He has built a huge mansion there and is planning another in Coventry."

---

"5. He has been tried and charged with drunk driving offences. Documents with evidence are available from the Alberta court (in Edmonton). Certain individuals from the sangat in Coventry are also in possession of copies of the evidence."

---

"6. He does not believe in amrit [sikh baptization]."

---

"7. He regularly travels and stays at hotels and uses the sangat's money to finance these trips."

---

"8. He has regulalry been seen, filmed, and photographed in boxer shorts and with his hair down at beaches in Canada."

---

"9. He has promoted promiscuity amongst his children-followers."

---

"10. He believes Osho Rajnish [the late Hindu cult leader who was extremely popular in the U.S.] to be a prophet greater than Guru Nanak."

---

"11. His system of philosophy consists solely of Osho's teachings."

---

"12. He believes that sex can take a person to God faster than nitnem [daily Sikh prayers]."

---

"13. He has totally floundered every single teaching of his predecessor who believed only in the Guru [Adi] Granth and only preached nitnem and amrit."

---

"The sangat is requested to petition the gurdwaras on Foleshill Road and New westminster Highway in Vancouver and ask for this imposter to be removed."

My dad always says that if u c a kirtani doin kirtan and u really enjoy it, dont go up to them. cause wen they not behind the mic u may end up findin stuff out about them i.e. the way they tok, there rehni behni, the way they act, nefin, and if u dnt like that person u will loose respect for them, as soon as u do that nethin they say u will loose respect for be it may the truth (Guru Jee's Bani), that is our human side which does it by default. My friend listen to wot he says if he speaks the truth (Gurbani) then listen and respect it, dnt get too close!

From the evidence this guy does seem like a fake.

HARNEK SINGH GREWAL: misappropriation alleged

Members of a prosperous Sikh temple in Richmond are at odds over allegations their spiritual leader has misappropriated temple funds.

The schism has led to a hearing in B.C. Supreme Court, where Justice Laura Gerow must decide whether to grant a petition for a forensic accounting of the Nanaksar Gurdwara-Gursikh Temple's books going back to 1994.

The petitioners allege Harnek Singh Grewal, revered by his followers worldwide as Maharaj Ji, has used temple funds to build a large house, promoted the belief in free sex as a path to enlightenment and drinks alcohol, which is forbidden by the strict sect.

Maharaj Ji succeeded Baba Ji, who died in 1994, and controls an estimated $20-million fortune. His followers live in Edmonton, Toronto, England and India.

In court in Vancouver yesterday, 12 supporters of the petitioners were vastly outnumbered by more than 100 supporters of Maharaj Ji.

"This is a power struggle," said congregation member Harp Singh. "Our congregation is very solid . . . we are all taken aback by what is going on."

Regarding the allegation that $525,000 was misappropriated to build a 6,500-square-foot mansion on Palmberg Road, Singh said Maharaj Ji needs a place to stay when he is in town.

The petitioners hired Vancouver chartered accountant Ronald Parks, who concluded misappropriation of cash is possible at the temple.

The petitioners also claim directors who oppose Maharaj Ji have been frozen out of the society's meetings.
