It has a conducive environment for the Spiritual, Intellectual and Physical Development of students coming from all parts of India and abroad. Its mission is to produce future leaders imbibed with sterling values of social justice and International Brotherhood; to bring peace and amity by following the Path of Living preached and practiced by the Sikh Gurus and enshrined in the Holy Guru Granth Sahib. The grooming of students is done by designing a schedule of activities and programmes which emphasise and lay stress on Learning rather than Teaching, Practising rather than Preaching, to reduce the gap between “Kathniâ€(word) and “Karniâ€(action).The Annual Calendar of Events is based on Inter-House Competitions including: covering all aspects of Personality Development to ignite the young minds to pursue the area of their individual interests, potentials and strengths; to develop their hidden talents; to acquire a positive outlook and maximise their contributions to humanity in their respective vocations and professions of their own choice. The movement of Akal Academies entered the millennium 2000 with the firm faith of fulfilling the wishes of Sant Attar Singh Ji of Mastuana (Punjab, India) and Sant Teja Singh Ji, MA LLB (Pb) AM (Harvard USA) to impart high quality scientific education combined with spiritual education to help usher an era of peace and universal brotherhood. Sant Teja Singh Ji acquired the land of Baru Sahib (Tapo Bhumi) in the Himalayas and established the Kalgidhar Trust to carry out the mission as visualized by Sant Attar Singh Ji. To implement the mission of the Kalgidhar Trust, its President Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, former Director of Agriculture, Himachal Pradesh, and Vice President Dr. Khem Singh Ji, (former Vice Chancellor Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India) established the first Akal Academy at Baru Sahib in 1987. From the humble beginning of five students in the first year, the Academy has now flourished into a full-fledged English-Medium, Co-educational, Residential Senior Secondary School affiliated to the CBSE, Govt. of India. The students of this Academy come to study here from various parts of India and abroad (USA, Canada, Dubai, England, Germany, Hong-Kong, Italy, New Zealand and Philippines).
