Freed Posted October 29, 2004 Report Share Posted October 29, 2004 Dashmesh ji's journey to Deccan (circa 1770-80 Marwar Rajastan) This painting is fascinating - not only because it's in a unusual style - but it includes a Nihang resplendent in DastarBoonga , I believe it is rare to see an older painting with a nihang and Guru Sahib?. The reason I noticed that is because Nihangs always use a blue Nishan Sahib as opposed to a Kesri Nishan Sahib. In India whenever I have had discussions with Nihangs, they always seem to be against the kesri Nishan Sahib. But on the picture, it shows a puraatan Akali Nihang Singh carrying a Kesri Nishan Sahib and NOT a blue one which modern Nihangs seem to carry. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

However, some believe it to be as recent as the late 19th century. It is in a collection owned by S.S.
