brilliant information, but from what i understand it is a martial excercise and having had the chance to experiance it in the Akhara's it is very powerful, and straining excerices but well worth the time spent if you wish not to walk for many days after.

SURYA NAMASKARA (SALUTE TO THE SUN) (not thats Sikhs do but We instead do Shaster Puja)

http://www.urday.com/surya.htm

But if you look at this site its similar in some of the very basic steps that I have learnt from Nihang Niddar Singh, the sikh style with various postures stretching, and recitations, of Jakare and Bole very inspiring when you have 50 men shouting Akaal Akaal !!!

Try looking at "Astanga" Yoga for a vigorous flow variation of the Surya Namaskaran without the associated mantras and for effective mental and physical toning and stregthening.

http://www.ashtanga.com/html/background.html

Ashtanga Yoga literally means "eight-limbed yoga," as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. According to Patanjali, the path of internal purification for revealing the Universal Self consists of the following eight spiritual practices:

Yama [moral codes]

Niyama [self-purification and study]

Asana [posture]

Pranayama [breath control]

Pratyahara [sense control]

Dharana [concentration]

Dhyana [meditation]

Samadhi [contemplation] (Scott 14-17)

Sorry not Sanjam Kriya but none the less should see the relationships between different styles.
