[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The mind of the rainbird thirsts - the mind of the rainbird thirsts; its mind longs for the beautiful rain-drops from the clouds. Drinking them in, its fever departs.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baarik ko jaisae kheer baalehaa chaathrik mukh jaisae jaladhharaa ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]As milk is dear to the baby, and the raindrop is dear to the mouth of the rainbird,[/glow:48408e3eb7]

chaathrik chithavath barasath mae(n)eh ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird longs for the rain to fall.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

prabh sio man leenaa jio jal meenaa chaathrik jivai thisa(n)theeaa ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]My mind is attached to the Lord, like the fish to the water, and the rainbird, thirsty for the raindrops.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

thiakath jala(n) neh jeev meena(n) neh thiaag chaathrik maegh ma(n)ddaleh ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]Leaving the water, the fish cannot live; the rainbird cannot live without the raindrops from the clouds.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

boo(n)dh vihoonaa chaathriko kio kar thripathaavai ||

mohi chaathrik thumh boo(n)dh thripatho mukh parai ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]I am the rainbird, and You are the rain-drop; when it falls into my mouth, I am satisfied.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

eaek boo(n)dh jal kaaranae chaathrik dhukh paavai ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]For the sake of a single rain-drop, the rainbird suffers in pain.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

jio chaathrik boo(n)dh kee piaas ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]as the rainbird thirsts for the rain drop,[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa prio bolae kokil baaneeaa ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird cries out, ""Pri-o! Beloved!"", and the song-bird sings the Lord's Bani.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

naanak prio prio chavai babeehaa kokil sabadh suhaavai ||2||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]O Nanak, the rainbird cries out, ""Pri-o! Pri-o! Beloved! Beloved!"" The song-bird is embellished with the Word of the Shabad. ||2||[/glow:48408e3eb7]

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]"Pri-o! Pri-o! Beloved! Beloved!" cries the rainbird, while the snakes slither around, biting.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

aas piaasee pir kai thaaee jio chaathrik boo(n)dhaerae ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]My hopes and desires rest in You, O my Husband Lord; like the rainbird, I long for the rain-drop.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

boo(n)dh kehaa thiaag chaathrik meen rehath n gharee ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]How can the rainbird forsake the rain-drop? The fish cannot survive without water, even for an instant.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

har bin kio reheeai dhookh kin seheeai chaathrik boo(n)dh piaasiaa ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]Without the Lord, how can I survive? How can I endure the pain? I am like the rainbird, thirsty for the rain-drop.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

chaathrik jal bin prio prio ttaerai bilap karai bilalaaee ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]Without water, the rainbird cries out, ""Pri-o! Pri-o! - Beloved! Beloved!"" It cries and wails and laments.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

chaathrik meen jal hee thae sukh paavehi saari(n)g sabadh suhaaee ||1||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird and the fish find peace in water; the deer is pleased by the sound of the bell. ||1||[/glow:48408e3eb7]

eihu baabee(n)ehaa pasoo hai eis no boojhan naahi ||

baabeehaa khasamai kaa mehal n jaanehee mehal dhaekh aradhaas paae ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]Not only the thirst of the poor rainbird, but the thirst of the whole world is quenched. ||1||[/glow:48408e3eb7]

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The night is wet with dew; the rainbird sings the True Name with intuitive ease.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa gunava(n)thee mehal paaeiaa aouganava(n)thee dhoor ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]O rainbird, the virtuous soul-bride attains the Mansion of her Lord's Presence; the unworthy, unvirtuous one is far away.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa baenathee karae kar kirapaa dhaehu jeea dhaan ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird prays: O Lord, grant Your Grace, and bless me with the gift of the life of the soul.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]O rainbird, you do not know what thirst is within you, or what you can drink to quench it.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa a(n)mrith vaelai boliaa thaa(n) dhar sunee pukaar ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird chirps in the ambrosial hours of the morning before the dawn; its prayers are heard in the Court of the Lord.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa eiv thaeree thikhaa n outharai jae so karehi pukaar ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]O rainbird, this is not the way to quench your thirst, even though you may cry out a hundred times.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

chaathrik chith suchith s saajan chaaheeai ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird is very smart; in its consciousness, it longs for the friendly rain.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

chaathrik jio tharasath rehai thin ko koun havaal ||124||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]Like the rainbird, some remain thirsty - what is their condition? ||124||[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa prio prio karae jalanidhh praem piaar ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird cries, ""Pri-o! Pri-o! Beloved! Beloved!"" She is in love with the treasure, the water.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]O rainbird, chirp the True Name, and let yourself be attuned to the True Lord.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]O rainbird, speak the Shabad, the True Word of God, with natural peace and poise.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehae than man sukh hoe jaa(n) thath boo(n)dh muhi paae ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The body and mind of the rainbird are happy. only when the rain-drop falls into its mouth.[/glow:48408e3eb7]

baabeehaa sagalee dhharathee jae firehi oodd charrehi aakaas ||

[glow=red:48408e3eb7]The rainbird wanders all over the earth, soaring high through the skies.[/glow:48408e3eb7]
