cybersingh Posted September 1, 2006 Report Share Posted September 1, 2006 Guru Nanak Wedding Anniversary Marriage Anniversary of Guru Nanak Celebrated By SSNews, tribune Aug 31, 2006, 16:34 The 520th marriage anniversary of Guru Nanak was celebrated with fervour. The devotees took out the “barat†of Guru Nanak from Sultan Lodi in Kapurthala district to Batala. The “barat†comprises The Beloved Five and thousands of devotees. Langars are organised on roadsides for devotees. At Batala, the “barat†first reached Gurdwara Dera Sahib and then Gurdwara Kandh Sahib. Guru Nanak was married to Bibi Sulakhni, daughter of Mul Chand Chauna. The district administration today declared holiday in the town for letting the devotees to participate in the ceremonies. It is hoped that a Bibi Sulakhni memorial gate will be set up at Umarpura village and the road leading to Gurdwara Kandh Sahib be named after Bibi Sulakhni. On wednesday a religious procession was taken out from Sultanpur Lodhi to Batala in celebrate Guru Nanak Dev’s marriage anniversary. A nagar kirtan started from the historical Gurudwara Ber Sahib after Bhog of Aasa di Waar. Sant Jagjit Singh Harkhowal led the ardas before the starting of the procession.
