Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh !

May Guru Sahib Shower all of you with Blessings on this special day - The Parkash Purb of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji .

To mark this day i have posted a short film from 1989 - it was shown on Channel 4 (UK) in the Children's TV slot.

It is a very good little film - it has a very 'homespun' quality - it is not perfect but remember it was made for children.

It also has a social history angle - in that it gives a snap shot of the Walsall and Coventry Sangats in 1989

Enjoy it

Here is a collection of some beautiful and interesting old Portraits of Guru Sahib.

These are from the collection of the Government Museum and Art Gallery Chandigarh.

This watercolour from the end of the 19th century - shows Guru Nanak in a chola / cloak with Quranic inscriptions

There is a janamsakhi account of Guru Nanak receiving such a chola at Baghdad - and one is preserved at Dera Baba Nanak.

Perhaps anyone who can read arabic script can confirm that the calligraphy is from the quran - it has been said that the calligraphy on the sleeves is Gurbani from Japji Sahib. - (If you can read shahmukhi please give a transliteration - Many Thanks )

I have posted some details and a picture that is said to be the Chola at Dera Baba Nanak.
