Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a master linguist and polyglot. Although amused at first, I felt sad afterwards that the portrayal of a story that has inspired millions to become Lions over the last 300 years, today inspires laughter, down to irresponsibilty. Alongside Bhai Daya Singh Ji calling Guru Ji "Singh" before Maharaj was given amrit, Guru Ji putting patisah into the amrit, amrit being prepared in "?" not sarbloh, and the secret of where the blood on the sword came from finally being revealed by the animation company! Far from it, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was an artist, these people were simply amatuer, uneducated, glory seeking business men. Jokes aside, somethings should be treated as sacred. If Guru Ji is going to portrayed (which in my "personal" opinion they shouldn't be) then proper research needs to be done, and agreement of educated Sikh bodies should be sought to ensure that the portrayal is as accurate and responsible as possible. No one in the English speaking world is going to take that cartoon seriously. Or is this also a sin? Im against misrepresentation as well as stupidly drawing for insult, however the renditions of Guru Nanak at Baba Atal are not even correctly proportioned, the heads are much larger then the body implies and artistically they are very simple infact almost cartoony, is that not insulting? sure if you want to do something authentic and historical then spend the time researching it, if you are making a simple animation aimed at 5 year olds then do you think they will appreciate or even understand the accurate renditions of Guru Ji, also whose to say they are accurate? Sikh scholars cant agree on whats bani whats not hell knows how they will accept whats Guru Jis form. Nobody asked Sobha Singh (was that his name?) from where he gathered the research to give us the father christmas style Guru Nanak we are all fond of and grown to accept as Guru Nanaks image, as well as his Guru Gobind Singh whose small keski sized damalla with backwards falling farla (also yellow) and no chakars always confuses me. Art is art it shouldnt be accurate as it never can be. it shouldnt be offensive and it shouldnt misrepresent but as with everything else it depends on purpose. To elaborate on the above point, I sat in a life drawing class for around a month, this involved drawing someone who sat infront of me totally in the nude. Sometimes it was an old lady other times a young lady and unfortunatly for me most of the time fat ugly hair men. Question is was I being artistic or perverted attended this class? Drawing nude women is that art or porn? According to some of the Panthic police crew I was a womanizing pervert and couldnt control my kaam, I should have said to the women please lady do not feel you have to sit here naked put on some clothes and I will draw you like that, others felt I should have walked out, others called me gay for drawing men in the nude. But some realised its just all about the intentions and purpose just like everything else in life. The English versions of Bani are not there to misrepresent or misguide (unfortunately they will as translations are only as accurate as the translater) yet without them many people would feel even more disassociated to sikhi and maharaj, unable to understand or even try to grasp Gurbani. We don't have any original photo, picture or painting of our any guru ji. All the photos of all guru's are fake i feel sorry for those who bow there head and worship these fake photos of guru.
