And more recently I have been called a transgender (actually the word used was "tranny" which is the derogatory form of the word) with reference to (I guess) the fact that I apparently look like a man because I tie a dastar and my face is somehow male looking???

So I'm not the only one LOOOOOOLL

Puratan paintings of Singhnis almost never show the sikh women wearing turbans. Most paintings I have looked at often show Singhnis with braided hair or sometimes with a top-knot.

    That said...

Out of like a hundred paintings I looked at, I saw one where it seemed like a Singhni is wearing a dastaar boonga. It could be a prepubescent male since there is no visible breast shape in the painting however the clothing, pink salwar kameez, seem to suggest that it is a woman with her family.

This was painted in 1838 Ad.

All 3 people in this image are Singhs. We cannot base colour theories based on today's meanings. I.e. the colour blue is compared to depression etc.

Sikh women just started wearing turbans since AKJ and this neo Sikh mentality sunk in. Look at bhagat Singh's mom and ask other real sardar families none of their women wore pags. There are instances where people like Mai Bhago did though but that has occurred w rajput women as well and only at the time of war or a last stand. Women have never worn pags 24/7 as these neo Sikh women do. Sikh women wore bindiyan and mehndi and surma too. Men wore earrings and jewellery as well. This new Sikh rehat maryada you keep trumpeting is a new construct. You need to wake up.

    Spot on

  4. Absolutely pathetic to generalise all normal women to be "bimbos" and "dolled up" because they don't tie a male signifier: turban.

Maybe that says something about your character while you didnt tie a turban.

Theres endless women who we respectable who look like women and not men.

Exactly. This is clearly a stylized drawing. There are many "exaggerated" elements, which are stylistic choices.

People don't see it rationally. They're drawings at the end of the day. They aren't photographs, to take them literal would be foolish.
