The above sakhi... is interesting as it narrates how a thief who heard just one line from the daramshala  - which is that Devis do not blink their eyes and do not have a shadow, got saved. He was saved despite having stolen a lot of the kings jewels.

(Another example of how Naam saves people)

This however does not justify wrong doing and lying.

  2. Demons and angels are very much at work actively all the time, though we cannot see them. The book Delivered from the powers of darkness highlights some of their activities. They are invisible forces as this articles points out the differences between them. Angels and demons have the same powers but they use them for a different purpose. This is why it is important that we always say our prayers and utter Waheguru in times of difficulty for divine help.

A person who commits the most sinful acts continuously in this life like murder etc... will be given the capacity to become a pret (ghost) in his next life and keep on influencing wrong behaviours.

    Demons are different to ghosts.

There was a time when there were no demons in the world i.e satyug. The following article explains the timescales of the yugs.

Someone has actually explained to me the reasoning behind taksali thought on this. Please NOTE:  I have no idea if this is true or not. It was just someone explained why Taksalis view women in this way and he got it from a katha online: He said it has to do with past karma. In fact Chatanga has already mentioned on here in this thread that women are bound to serving their husband because its their dharma. So the idea is that someone for example born with a disability (or born female) was born that way because of some past sins, and therefore are seen as impure in this life and not suitable to give amrit because presumably they would pass on some of that karmic debt to others as those giving amrit pass on some of their energy. The idea is that women are born as women as a result of past sins. Its also why taksalis see menstruation as spiritually impure. Its another way that past sin manifests now, making every soul born into a female body, paying for their karmic punishment. Basically being born in a female body is a punishment (like wearing a big reg tag saying sinner), and that soul in a female body is seen very much lesser avastha than any male. In fact a disabled male is still considered higher than any female as if he married a female would still be bound to serve him. So the real reason Taksalis etc don't want women administering amrit is that they believe women are tainted spiritually and considered impure because they believe being born into a female body is result of past karams.

This line of thinking seems to stem from the Hindu faith which consider women to be of a lower status than men. In fact women are treated so differently - they eat last, stay secluded during their menses and do not even cook food during that time. Look at Dropadi in Ramayan. Duryodan had her pulled out of her secluded place just to shame her by pulling out her sari in front of everyone. This was in revenge for her having laughed at him when he mistook the floor for water and got his feet wet.

Guru nanak Dev Ji has abolished this treatment of women - by demanded that they be respected as they give birth to kings. No where has Guru Ji said that women are so because of their past sins. Some past books contain some material like saying if you eat the jhooth of someone you are reborn as a woman. If there was any truth in this it would be in the SGGS. If there was any importance in not being born as a woman and as a man, then Guru Ji would have warned us not to sin as we would be born as women. However this is not the case.

Guru Ji said rehet peyari muji sikh peyara nahi....

This means that whoever stays in the rehet... will be the peyara of Guru Ji.

Everything we get in this life, we have to earn it. Everything we have at the moment is the result of our past karmas.

    Vin karma kich paiye nahi.

Everything we have has been given to us by God. Dhadha dhataa ek hai.

Therefore taking the above in account, if there were some women who kept the rehet - strictly and were pleasing to Guru Ji - then there is no one to stop them from becoming the punj peyare. However Sikhi is a practical religion. Therefore empty debates do not produce any results. Live in the rehet and according to your karams and your kamai - Waheguru will give you some work to do i.e. administer Amrit as one of the punj peyare.

The end question is - Who has worked to earn this seva ?

  4. A lot of confusion would be cleared up if we sort of compared male and female to tall and short. If you are short.... there are certain activities which you can perform which a tall person may not be good at. Netball, long jump, high shelves just being some examples. However it does not mean that you are bad, of a lower caste, or evil because you are tall or short.

In the same way - is the male and the female. They simply are able to perform different tasks differently because of their body structure. Each needs the other to complement and to achieve the continuation of the universe. None is superior or inferior. It is our wrongful thinking which makes it so. In sakhiya - both have been blessed with mukti by Waheguru. In Sikhi both genders have been involved in religious ceremonies - although in different ways. For instance after the Amrit was prepared and two birds partook of it - they fought each other to their deaths. That is when Mata Ji was requested to bring the patase and place them in the amrit. Love, tenderness, gentle understanding emanate from the female part of Gods creation. Both genders were involved in the preparation of the Amrit - however in different ways because they represent different functions. Guru Ji wanted his Sikhs to be fierce fighters but sweet amongst themselves too. (Ever seen how women bond together)

However we have to pick on the gifts which Guru Ji gave us - like Murakhs and demand an explanation as to why women were not in the punj peyare. We should be thankful for all the sacrifices which Guru Ji made in order to bless us with the Amrit which the whole world seeks to find.

Sur nar mum jan Amrit khojdhe so Amrit Gur te paya.

Here we have the Amrit which everyone is searching for and all we can think about is why women were not involved. Waheguru bless us with understanding and forgive us our ungratefulness.

If I want to wake up early and do my abhiyaas and nitnem I will have to stop going gurudwara during evening and I don't want to do that cus sangat naal v abhiyaas teh boht assar hunda hai.

This is your mind playing games on you. Everything is possible. All you need is an alarm to wake you up and the will - which you have to tell yourself - you can wake up.

I feel like crying ? i am very upset deep inside. I want to move ahead but I don't know what to do

You are focussing on what you cannot be able to do much more than on what you are actually able to achieve. This could be leading you into depression. Sometimes we are trying hard to achieve something, but cannot.

Have you tried alternate days - that means one day Guradwara - the next day try your simran at home to see if you can achieve better results.

It is important to take time to have that 10 minute walk at lunch time to freshen up and clear your mind. Do your simran at work esp if it is building work - you may be able to recite some shabad or do simran while working. This helps to prepare your mind and stabilise it from having thoughts like I cant do it later on. learn to relax and perhaps set your alarm to your favourite shabad which will motivate you to wake up at amrit vela.

Usually it is by some trial and era that we stumble upon the path. So dont be scared to juggle your routine to get to what suits you most. The thinking is all in the brain remember. We can achieve much more than we actually do - if it were not the brain pulling us back and telling us we can't.

But the question is - Who is better at hiding it? On average women.

Women are better than men at most things. Women have been created to be helpers and supporters of the universe and of men in general. behind every successful man there is a woman.

If women did not have half the important role which they play in the universe, then they would have been eliminated after all. Men are able to continue what they are doing because of women. They are able to father children because there are women who are willing to go through the pain and suffering of childbirth and being able to sacrifice everything which belongs to them just to raise their children. They have been given special abilities to be able to perform their duties.

Yes they are better at hiding it too - because they have better thinking and reasoning capabilities. However that debate belongs to the secular world - not something to be promoted on a religious website I would say.

In Gurbani - maya is the woman who is the support of the creator himself. Both co-exist and are both necessary for the universe to continue its functions. God is spirit - pure spirit and all other material is maya, Maya is under the command of the supreme creator. Everything which exists apart from the pure spirit of God is maya. However maya cannot function on its own as it is needs commands from God.

Men and women have been created in the same way to co exist and co function in order to ensure the continuation of the universe. Labelling one as bad and the other as good is just not quite in order. Gurbani has been written by mahapurakhs who understood the co-relation as they were at a higher spiritual understanding. At a higher spiritual level when the soul is aiming for complete union with the creator then we can expect great competition from maya itself. This is what these mahapurakhs are taking about when they speak of women. We are only manmukhs so we should not try to use those lines to undermine what God has created.

Eh vis sansaar tum dhekte eh har ka roop hai. har roop nadhri aya

What you see hear is a representation of what God's Kingdom is like.

We are to use it in order to understand the creator better.

Is it worse to do nindya of a gurmukh or manmukh?

how bad is it to do nindya of a gurmukh?

it is worse to do nindya of a manmukh. All his paap will come onto you.

It is equally bad to do nindya of a Gurmukh as God will punish you for it, however the Gurmukh will forgive you for it.

This brings us to the point - the Gurmukh will forgive you for it.

So what should you do to people when they do your nindya. Take a leaf from the book of Bhagat jis shabad nindho nindho moko log nindho.

    nindhak dhubha hum upre paar.

Bhagat jis love it when people do their nindya. They will forgive you and love you for it. For nindhak humra kare udhaar.

The nindhak will take away all the sins and sufferins of the bhagat ji.

So what do we learn from this. Forgive others when they talk wrong about you. Never look at the faults of others. By looking at others faults, you are missing your own. You are going steps back from your own progress. You are taking paap on your head which will start to affect your bhagti and you will get dragged back.

There is a sakhi on Raja janak who was requested by a sant ji to have his nindhya done by people in order to get his karam cancelled. So he made his daughter sit with him on the throne. People did nindhya and the heap of horse dung he was supposed to eat greatly reduce to be left to a handful. There was another sant ji nearby who refused to do nindya of Raja Janak. The raja sent people to him to do his nindya, however he greatly declined. He did not batter an eyelid in response to nindya. Therefore Raja Janak had to eat that handful of horse dung.

PS. This sakhi is in the meaings of the japji sahib dha path. I can expect people to start debatng on it and it is on Raja janak. However there are great morals in this sakhi which we should try to adopt into our lives.

Are you sure brother it was a haunted well or something else?

I am perfectly sure because 20 years ago I got this sakhi and got the kids to do a performance in front of people in the Guradwara.

Some sakhis are in some books which we have not accessed yet. Guru Nanaks janam sakhi has many sakhis in it. I will try to find it, however I need some time as I have not marked exactly where this sakhi was.

  9. Was just having some thoughts linking my dream and what tva tparshad is experiencing. Maybe it was a pre-message to that eyeball stage. The message maybe to concentrate on Waheguru. If it becomes difficult then write in the air - just to develop your concentration better... to give your mind the needed boost in order to keep up with your simran. However it also could be an indicator of being on the right path as these things can be expected to fall your way. The nam jaap of waheguru will help you through.

It is a wonder that Bhai Mani wrote a great amount of Gurbani. Writing it may be a better way of concentrating on it too.
