  1. The Aikido thereis close to some elements of Sheshnaag Penthra however there are _some_ bits which are more closer to Chandi, for example the use of Gatthi which he does well. Due to the cynic I am I would say that the skill behind manipulating Gathi is shown when the opponent is more dynamic and unpredictable. changes in tempo, direction, ard ord eeth ooth, rather then charge right in like headless chickens.

I would have like to have seen two expert aikido fighters go against each other and see how they spar off each other, rather then someone who runs in open armed, just waitin to get smacked in the jaw.

  2. Shastarvidiya is only gained through doing the mehantha and udham over years and years under the guidance of your Gurdev. Like any other vidiya, it is a something which needs to be practised every day in order to attain it, and abhihaas must be done constantly otherwise you will lose what you have learnt, and believe me it starts to disappear fast if you don’t train for a day or two.

The Mantrs and boleh are there for phsycological effect, to settle the mind and prepare it for battle, they compliment the vidiya to make it sampooran, however they alone wont give you the vidiya, if this was the case, every sant baba would be a fully fledged soorma at the stage of past warriors.

On the other hand, just the Vidiya alone is not enough for most people, you can be the most technical person in the world, with the greatest anticipation skills, highest level of penthra and baiting, but when you are confronted by an attacker in the street, you lose your confidence and you havent got the heart to smash the guys head in. This is where the Bir Rassi bani and Boleh come in, so the warrior can reflect upon killing and being killed. The main mantrs used in training are the first pauri of Jaap Sahib, Deh Shiva mantr, and Kaal Jaap.

If you wish to learn true shastarvidiya, you need to take out the time and put in the effort to learn it, nothing comes without sacrifice.

  3. I saw it this morning

Basically the dudes apparently been going around sayin he was offered a farla by the nihang singhs in india when he got there.

The poster said that Baba Surjit Singh never offered him one, Navreet doesnt believe in Sukha Degh, Chatka, and other Maryada, therefore cannot claim to be a Akali Singh.

  4. Most of the topics in Niddar Singhs book have written tradition to back it up, and the oral tradition fills in the blanks. Oral tradition works when there is evidence available, for example the existence of Akali Nihangs, the Misls, the 2 Dal factions, and the Maryada. However this cannot be said for the DDT.

  5. Gurfateh tSingh !

You've probably seen these pictures - but if not check them out - They are amazing - whoever 'chitrakari' is s/he should publish them in large 'coffee table' book size - I would definitely buy a copy

There is an amazing picture of Baba Harbhajan Das Udasin, of the Mumbai Sadhubela Udasin 'Akhara' and a wonderfully 'other worldly' picture of the Dera Baba Charan Shah at Bahadurpur Hoshiarpur.

I love the study of the frescoes at Baba Atal and the Nihang portraits

Oh and getting back to your original post - there's a picture of the Murti of Baba Sri Chand at the BrahmButta Akhara Amritsar

    definitely worth a look!

    Here's the link
