There is an army of Shaheed Singhs that have been ordered by Guru Sahib to constantly protect Gurdwaras and Gursikhs. They are the special forces of Guru Sahib and completely one with him. They are very powerful and even greater than the Hindu gods who do not have as much power. The Shaheed Singhs dress in old Khalsa bana, either blue or sometimes white, and also carry many shastars. Although they usually go about in secret and cannot be seen, at times they make themselves visible. These Shaheed Singhs have been seen during the 1947 Partition, guarding Gurdwaras and at other times have helped Singhs protect Guru Granth Sahib jee.

Bhai Soorat Singh was a Gursikh who even in 1949 used to do yatra of Hemkunt Sahib. He says that, “Every year I would go from Gobind Dham to Hemkunt Sahib and in the evening return back. I would do the bhog of a sehaj paath there in 15 or 16 days. When I would o paath there though, I wouldn’t speak but sometimes it seemed to me tha thte Gurdwara Sahib was filled with Singhs and sometimes there was no one. On the day of the bhog, I finished by saying a Fateh! And to my surprise, it was answered by 16 Singhs sitting in the sangat. Five or six of them were wearing blue clothes and the rest were wearing white. All had shastars. One Singh stood and said, “Bhai Sahib, do not doubt us. We are 16 Shaheed Singhs in this Gurdwara and many others also go around here.â€

Many times I would spend the night in the veranda and I would hear the keertan of Asa Dee Vaar. Once, at 3:15, I was sitting in the veranda when I saw a being riding on a white lion come, bathe in the sarovar and then ride off again on the lion.â€

The Shaheed Singhs also stay with Gursikhs at all times. During the time of Sant Attar Singh jee, it was seen that a Singh riding a horse would circumambulate Sant jee’s tent. The tent was on the banks of the Jehlum, and the horse would go on the three sides which were faced by land, but also on the fourth side which was the river Jehlum. The rider would yell out a jaikara as well. When Sant jee was asked about this, he said that Shaheed Singhs do come and protect Gursikhs but those that can see this should not tell others.

In Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh jee’s time, Shaheed Singhs could sometimes be seen at the Dhaab he and other Singhs did naam abhyaas at.

  2. This is Naamdhari belief that Guru Gobind Singh Jee passed on Guruship. sab sikhan ko hukam hai guru maaneyo granth! Plus think about it yourself veerjee/bhenji. The one who sacrificed His everything, father, mother, sons, family, beloved Sikhs, how can we say/think that He would have fear of death and run away?

    taken from http://members.dancris.com/~sikh/chap12.html

The close connections between the Guru and Emperor Bahadur Shah had alarmed Wazir Khan, the viceroy of Sirhind. He had ordered the infant sons of the Guru to be bricked alive in the wall and beheaded. It was he, who was responsible for inflicting most of the atrocities upon the Sikhs in the Punjab. He feared that his life would be in danger if the new Emperor and the Guru came to a compromise. He, therefore, conspired a plot to kill the Guru and he sent two Pathans, Gul Khan alias Jamshed Khan and Ata-ullah, to assassinate him.

All kinds of people started attending the congregations of the Guru at Nader. Soon the two Pathans also started coming to the assembly which was addressed by the Guru. On the third or fourth day, Jamshed Khan found an opportunity and as Guru Gobind Singh retired to his personal apartment after the evening prayer, he entered the apartment and, wounded him with a dagger. The Guru put him to death immediately, though he himself was wounded seriously. His fleeing companion was stabbed to death by a Sikh who rushed to the Guru's place hearing the noise.

Various views and stories have been expressed with regard to the circumstances of the assassination of the Guru. Cunningham writes that a Pathan merchant who had sold horses to the Guru, came one day and asked for immediate payment. The Guru who was short of funds, asked him to come some other day. The Pathan used an angry gesture, and his uttering of violence provoked the Guru to strike him dead. The body of the Pathan was removed and buried, and his family seemed reconciled to the fate. His sons nursed their revenge, and availed an opportunity of fulfilling it. They succeeded in stealing upon the Guru's retirement, and stabbed him mortally when asleep and unguarded. (Cunningham- History of Sikhs, p-82)

Other writers such as McGregor (History of Sikhs, vol.1 p-99- 100) states that the Guru shortly after, realized his mistake and as a recompense for the fate of the victim, the Guru showed special favor to the widow and brought up her son as a father would do. When the boy grew to manhood, he is said to have been incited by the Guru himself to strike him. The boy did it with fatal results for the Guru. Trumpp also believes in this version and to give a rationale to it, states that the Guru had been disgusted with life and wanted to end it.

These stories are absolutely baseless. These writers should understand who the Guru was. Guru Gobind Singh was sitting on the divine throne of Guru Nanak, therefore, he was the embodiment of Divine Light; the Divine never feels disgusted or dejected. The Guru never uttered any word of grief nor did he show any sign of despair during the unparallel sufferings he went through. It is not recorded any place in his sermons or writings that he had ever expressed a sigh of grief. When Nura Mahi brought the news of the brutal massacre of his younger children, the Guru thanked God,"Father, mother and four sons, all were Thy trust to me. Today I have been successful and happy in restoring that entire trust back to Thee." One can hardly find such an example in the annals of human history.

In recent years fresh light is thrown by a Hukamnama according to which no demand for immediate payment was put before the Guru. The Pathan actually refused to make any demand when reminded of it by the Guru. This is shown by Hukamnana (letter of appreciation issued by the Guru) which the Guru granted to the Pathan for his good and friendly behavior and which is still preserved by the descendants of that Pathan. (Kartar Singh: Life of Guru Gobind Singh, p-263)

A probe into the historical circumstances leads to the Emperor's involvement. The Emperor was enraged with the Guru for deputing Banda to Punjab to renew the struggle and kill Wazir Khan. It seems that the Emperor was also afraid that the Guru might join the Marahattas in their battle against the Mughals during the time of his struggle with his brother at Hyderabad. It was perhaps for this reason, he was not leaving the Guru alone. Bahadur Shah had the mistaken belief that the Guru's death would be a fatal blow to his scheme of renewing the revolution in Punjab, he, therefore, entered into conspiracy with two Pathans deputed by Wazir Khan to put an end to Guru's life. The following historical facts testify this view:

On October 28, 1708, the Emperor ordered that a dress of mourning be presented to the son of Jamshed Khan Afghan who had been killed by Guru Gobind Singh. The imperial newsletter of Bahadur Shah's court records reads:

"Keh Guru Gobind Singh Rai Jamshed Khan Afghan ra bajan Kushtah bud khilat-e-Matami bapisar-i-Khan Mazkur Mrahmat shud." (Akhbarat-i-Darbar-i-Mualla, dated 24 Shaba, second year of Bahadur Shah (Oct. 28, 1708) quoted by Dr. Ganda Singh in Makhiz-i-Twarikh-i-Sikhan, p-83)

Jamshed Khan was not a high dignitary upon whom the Emperor had to bestow high honors. He was only a spy of Wazir Khan.

Two days later on October 30, 1708, the Emperor ordered for the grant of a robe of mourning to Guru Gobind Singh's family.

It means that the Emperor treated Jamshed Khan and Guru Gobind Singh on equal footing, thereby confirming that Jamshed Khan enjoyed the patronage of the Emperor.

"On November 11, 1708 it was represented that the deceased Guru left huge property." The courtiers asked how should it be disposed? It was ordered that such chattels would not replete the imperial treasury. "This was the property of a darvesh (saint). There should be no interference with it," ordered the Emperor.

The Emperor's refusal to attach the property of the Guru against the will of his courtiers shows his diplomacy and cunningness. It was purely an eye-wash of his complicity, a pious fraud, writes H.R. Gupta in his 'A history of Sikh Gurus', p-240.

The Guru's wound was immediately stitched by the Emperor's European surgeon and within a few days it appeared to have been healed. Soon after when the Guru tugged at a hard strong bow, the imperfectly healed wound burst opened and caused profuse bleeding. It was now clear to him that the call of the Father from Heaven had come and he, therefore, gave his last and enduring message of his mission to the assembly of the Khalsa. He then opened the Granth Sahib, placed five paise and a coco-nut before it and solemnly bowed to it as his SUCCESSOR, GURU GRANTH SAHIB. Saying 'Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh', he circumambulated the sacred volume and proclaimed," O beloved Khalsa, let him who desireth to behold me, behold the Guru Granth. Obey the Granth Sahib. It is the visible body of the Gurus. And let him who desireth to meet me, diligently search its hymns." He then sang his self-composed hymn:

"Agya bhai Akal ki tabhi chalayo Panth

Sabh Sikhan ko hukam hai Guru manyo Granth

Guru Granth Ji manyo pargat Guran ki deh

Jo Prabhu ko milbo chahe khoj shabad mein le

Raj karega Khalsa aqi rahei na koe

Khwar hoe sabh milange bache sharan jo hoe."

    Translation of the above:

"Under orders of the Immortal Being, the Panth was created. All the Sikhs are enjoined to accept the Granth as their Guru.

Consider the Guru Granth as embodiment of the Gurus. Those who want to meet God, can find Him in its hymns. The Khalsa shall rule, and its opponents will be no more, Those separated will unite and all the devotees shall be saved."

He, in grateful acknowledgement of the spiritual benefactions of the founder of his religion, uttered a Persian distich, the translation of which is:

"Gobind Singh obtained from Guru Nanak

Hospitality, the sword, victory, and prompt assistance."

(These lines were impressed on a seal made by the Sikhs after the Guru left for his heavenly abode, and were adopted by Ranjit Singh for his coinage after he had assumed the title of Maharaja in the Punjab)

He then left for his heavenly abode. The Sikhs made preparations for his final rites as he had instructed them, the Sohila was chanted and Parsahd (sacred food) was distributed.

While all were mourning the loss, a Sikh arrived and said," You suppose that the Guru is dead. I met him this very morning riding his bay horse. After bowing to him when I asked whither he was going, he smiled and replied that he was going to the forest on a hunting excursion."

The Sikhs who heard this statement arrived at the conclusion that it was all the Guru's play, that he dwelt in uninterrupted bliss, that he showed himself wherever he was remembered. He who treasures even a grain of the Lord's love in his heart, is the blessed one and the Guru reveals himself to such a devotee in mysterious ways. Wherefore for such a Guru who had departed bodily to Heaven, there ought to be no mourning.

The Master returned to his Eternal Home on the 5th of the bright half of Katik, Sambat 1765 (7th October, 1708 A.D.). He was 42 years of age.

Before leaving this world, the Guru had ordained," If any one erects a shrine in my honor, his offspring shall perish."

The Sikh temple at Nader is called Abchalnagar. It was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1832 in defiance of the Guru's interdiction. After Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the rule of his dynasty, therefore, came to an end. Guru's prophecy was fulfilled.

I have edited some stuff I said in my previous posts in a fit of rage, and marked them as <EDITED BY MEHTAB SINGH>. I do not hold any grudge whatsoever against this forum or its moderating team. There are a number of members and moderators here who I love as my brothers and sisters, and I don't want to offend them by my stereotypical and generalized statements about the mods at this site. It was wrong on my part to feel that I have been discriminated against for being a member of another forum, and for those words, I sincerely apologize.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki fateh.

Today I am privileged to share with you all the remarkeable history of the Family of Gursikhs who gave 29 Shaheeds to the Guru Khalsa Panth.

This is the family of none other than BHAI MANI SINGH SHAHEED - who got his band band Kattiya...

In Sikh History there are FOUR Bhai mani Singhs mentioned. 1. Bhai mani Singh Kamobh, 2. Bhai mani Singh Dulatt 3. Bhai mani Singh Kanha Kacchha and 4. Bhai mani Singh Alipur. Now which of these is the Bhai mani Singh Shaheed ?

Lets take them one by one to arrive at the truth.

    1. Bhai mani Singh Kamboh..this man is mentioned by Kesar Singh Chhibbar..but this Mani Singh is not mentioned to have served at Harimandir Sahib Amrtisar as Granthi.

    2. Bhai mani Singh Dullatt. According to Gyani Gyan Singh this Mani Singh was the son of Jatt Dulatt aand he attained shaheedee in 1795 - he used to live as a fakir....but this man is not mentioned as Band band Katiya....and this martyrdom happened in 1791.

    3. Bhai mani Singh Kanha Kachha....is mentioned only by Bhai Veer Singh ball sathiala. In his book "Singh sagar" written in 1884. He is mistaken because the grandsons of Bhai mani Singh Alipur were settled in Kanha Kchha later and he made the wrong assumption that Bhai mani Singh must have been from kanha kachha.

    4. Bhai mani Singh Alipur - his ancestors came from Khandosh and settled in nahan Himachal Pardesh....this event is mentioned in the Vahee records of Taluedeh in 1490 Bhatt records as stated:

    a) rada Mall's grandson jagna, great grandson beera ka chander Bharadawasi gotra.....etc etc. Thus it is clear that this family moved from Nahan to Alipur around 1582-1600 bikrmi. These facts are also mentioned by Bhatt Bohith who is the son of Bhatt Keerat whose bani is in the Guru Granth Sahib Jee.

Bhai mani Singh was born in the family bharchwaji parmar Rajputs in the house of bullu son of mai dass and his mother was mata madhuri bani in the year 1644 on March 10th ( 1701 Bikrimi) These people were the descendants of Rajputs of Madhya Pardesh and descendats of Raja Sandal. In the 9th generation of Raja sandal was Muna one of whose 14 sons was Bullu who was Bhai mani Singh ji's father.

From BULLHU begins the RAIN of SHAHEEDS.....

mai dass had 12 sons...one Amar Chand dies in infancy...BUT the remaining 11 were shaheeds for the Guru Sahibs...

    1. Bhai Jetha Singh 11-10-1711 at Alowaal Battle

    2. Bhai Dyal dass - 11-11- 1675 Boiled Alive in front of Guru Teg bahadur sahib Jee at delhi

    3. Bhai mani Singh - Band band Katiya ta Lahore 24-6-1734

    4. Bhai Daan Singh 7-12-1705 at Chamkaur Battle

    5. Bhai maan Singh 3-4-1800 Chitor Garh battle

    6. Bhai roop Singh 11-10-1711 Alowaal battle

    7. Bhai jagat singh 24-6-1734 Lahore

    8. Bhai Sohan Chand 20-3- 1691 Battle of Nadon

    9. Bhai Lahina Singh20-2-1696 Guler Battle

    10. Bhai rai Singh 3-12-1705 Battle of Mukatsar _ Chali mukteh

    11. Bhai hari Chand 18-9-1688 Battle of Bhangani

Bhai mani Singh had 10 sons.....out of which 7 attained shaheedee

    1. Bhai Chitar singh 24-6-1734 Lahore

    2. Bhai bachittar Singh 8-12-1705 Kotla Nihang Ropar

    3. Bhai Udey Singh 6-12-1705 Pahai tibbi Roapr

    4. Bhai Anaik Singh 7-12-1705 Chamkaur

    5. Bhai ajab Singh - Chamkaur date not known

    6. Bhai Ajaib Singh - Chamkaur date not known

    7. Bhai Gurbaksh Singh 24-6-1734 Lahore

The remaining three sons were Bahi desa Singh (writer of Rehtnama), Bhai Bhagwan Singh and Bhai Balram Singh.

The sosn of these three were also shaheeds:

    1. Bhai Chitar Singh - had three sosn shsheed -

    a) Bhai keshe Singh 28-12-1811 at Bilaspur battle

b ) Bhai Saina Singh 22-6-1713 at Sadhora battle

    c) Bahi Hatthu Singh 27-3-1758 Sarhind battle

    d) Bhai Garja Singh joined the Nirmalas. ( not shaeed)

Bhai Bachittar Singh ( who fought the Elkephant at Anandpur Sahib ) had two sons:

    1. Bhai Sangarm Singh 13-5-1710 at battle of Chapar Cheri Ropar

    2. Bhai ram Singh 9-6-1716 at Delhi

    Bhai Udey Singh' sons:

    1. Bhai Mehbob Singh 13-5-1710 at Chapar Cheri Ropar

    2. Bhai fateh Singh also at Chapar Cheri Ropar

    3. Bhai Albel Singh 22-6-1713 at Sadhoura Battle

    4. Bhai mehr Singh also at Sadhaura Battle

    5. Bhai Bagh singh 28-12-1711 at Bilaspur Battle.

Thus Bhai ballhu, 11 grandsons, Bhai mani Singh and his seven sons and 10 grandsons......make a GRAND TOTAL of 29 SHAHEEDS for the Guru Khalsa panth...MUCH MUCH more than any other family combined.

I have broken up this mail into two parts to make it easier to read.

In my next installment of this remarkable story I will detail bhai Mani Singh Ji's Life and times with Guru har rai Ji...to Guru Gobind Singh Ji and finally Shaheedee for the Panth.

I hope all of you benefit from this piece of our glorious history.

France's Sikhs want to meet Manmohan on turban issue

    Indo-Asian News Service

    Paris, August 3

Sikhs in France have sought an urgent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over their dispute with the French government over allowing children to wear turbans in public schools.

The managing committee of the Gurdwara Singh Sabha Paris has despatched a letter to the prime minister, urging his rapid intervention in the matter in order to ensure that Sikhs can continue to live honourably in France.

In the letter, the community leaders have congratulated Manmohan Singh on becoming the first Sikh to occupy the highest job in India and expressed hope that being a Sikh himself, he would be able to feel the problems that the community has been having about wearing turbans here in France.

"Since he himself wears a turban, he knows and understands how crucial it is for a Sikh to have his turban," say the members of the managing committee of the Gurdwara.

And as schools in France are about to reopen in about three weeks, time is running short for the Sikh community.

The new law will come into effect from the new term that begins in September and Sikh leaders in Paris say that they will feel much easier and comfortable once the French government clarifies the issue once and for all.

"We just hope that the officials are not simply trying to buy some more time rather than look for a real solution that will allow Sikh children to keep their faith and also get educated here," says a member of the managing committee.

The trouble for Sikhs does not end with the schools. In fact, they are forced to take their turbans off for any photographs for getting official French documents like the identity card or driving licence.

"We are already facing a huge challenge in terms of getting the French administration to accept our photographs with the turbans. The new law can lead to a situation that will be extremely dangerous for the Sikh religion in France," says a Sikh who has been living here in France for the last 15 years.

"I came to France at the height of the Punjab problem, thinking that I had come to the land of democracy, freedom and equality. But now I find that these kinds of laws are taking even the simplest of freedoms away from us. This is totally unacceptable," he adds.

The community has already held demonstrations and several media conferences to highlight the issue and the importance of a turban for a Sikh.

However, despite very sympathetic noises, nothing concrete has yet been achieved, the Sikh leaders say.

So now they want to turn to the Indian government to help them overcome this problem.

The Sikhs say they would like to send a delegation from Paris to New Delhi to brief the prime minister about the plight of the community in France and that they are optimistic he will act to protect the interests of the community.

Government wants Golden Temple to be in World Heritage List

    By T.S. Subramanian

    Golden Temple

CHENNAI, AUG. 2 . The Government of India has recommended to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to include the Golden Temple at Amritsar, Punjab, in the World Heritage List. Prof. Enamul Haque, the one-man commission on behalf of the UNESCO, will visit the place this month to make his assessment. He will forward his recommendation, based on historical, cultural and architectural factors, to the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS)/ UNESCO. "I am looking forward to the mission to visit the Golden Temple, the Harmandir Sahib," he said on July 30, when he passed through Chennai to Colombo. "I have to study the papers on the Golden Temple," he added.

In July this year, the UNESCO included the Brihadeesvarar temple at Gangaikondacholapuram in Perambalur district and the Airavatesvara temple at Darasuram in Thanjavur district, both in Tamil Nadu, in the World Heritage List of monuments and sites. The Brihadeesvarar temple in Thanjavur town was earlier included in the List. All the three temples are outstanding examples of Chola architecture and sculpture.

The ICOMOS advises the UNESCO on the nomination of new monuments and sites to the World Heritage List and prescribes high standards for their preservation, restoration and management.

Dr. Haque was the founder and Director-General of the Bangladesh National Museum and formerly Secretary-in-Charge, Ministry of Culture in the Bangladesh Government. He is now the Chairman and Academic Director, The International Centre for Study of Bengal Art, Dhaka. He knows Sanskrit and is a specialist in Buddhist Studies. He is also a specialist in Hindu sculptures and iconography in Bangladesh.

According to Dr. Haque, the criterion for a monument to be included in the list was that it should have a buffer zone and a core zone. No industries should be put up around it. It should have clear approaches leading to it. "If you fulfil these conditions, then there is no difficulty in taking a decision," he said.

    'Boost to tourism'

On the benefits that would accrue if a monument or a site were included in the list, he said they would be preserved better than before. "The National Government will pay more attention to them. May be, the UNESCO will give more funds," he said.

The recognition would promote research and tourism. Specialists from different countries would cooperate with one another in undertaking research and exchanging information on how to protect them. Even monuments built of stone decayed over a period of time due to various factors. "So, inclusion in the World Heritage List increases the scope for research and preservation of monuments," he said.

He chatted in sister-in-law's name to get her entangled in the sleazy 'web

    Wednesday August 4 2004 00:49 IST

CHENNAI: One evening, Veni (name changed on request) was expecting a call from her husband. The phone rang, but it was not her husband. “When can I come? How much do you charge for an hour,†asked a lecherous tone on the other end. A shaken Veni banged the phone down. It was just the beginning. She was hounded by many more calls.

Summoning courage, she asked one caller what exactly he wanted. The caller said he had seen her photograph and a soliciting message on Yahoo's profiles. A shocked Veni confided in her husband and they got in touch with a friend who was a software professional. With his help they contacted Yahoo, and her profile was erased.

However, it was not the end of the problems for them. The callers then called to claim Veni was chatting with them and that she herself had given them her number.

At their wit's end, the couple contacted the Cyber Crime Cell of Chennai police. “Armed with just the Yahoo Messenger user-ID, we set out to nab the culprit,†says S Balu, Assistant Commissioner, Cyber Crime. The cybercops tracked down the terminal from which the miscreant was chatting in the name of Veni.

The result was a surprise for the police. It was the same address from which the complaint was filed - Veni's house. Plainclothesmen were sent to Veni's house and there in the first floor, they found her husband's younger brother, all of 17 years, chatting under her name.

It was the teenager's way of getting even with Veni over a misunderstanding in the family.

Since it became a family affair, the couple did not want to press charges and the youngster was let off.

In a similar case, a former classmate of an MBA graduate in Chennai had splurged her photographs along with inviting messages on the Internet. “In most of these cases, the culprits are either well-known to the victim or a relative,†says Balu.

These isolated incidents of personal vendetta are only a part of crimes committed in the vast Worldwide Web. There are other cases like hacking, spam and online credit card frauds. In Chennai alone, in the past one year, there have been 38 petitions of obscene messages, 11 of cheating, six of threats and six petitions of cheating filed.

But is the city's Cyber Crime Cell well-equipped to handle it? No. All that they have at their disposal is a team comprising one Assistant Commissioner, one Inspector, two Sub-Inspectors and two technicians, who are engineering graduates. Did we mention the solitary terminal that they are equipped with?

The Cyber Crime Cell does not even have a functional cyber lab, leave alone a full-fledged one. Apart from the e-mail tracking and a few other basic software, the police has nothing of note to tackle cyber crime. “We have requested for more equipment and facilities,†is the official line.

The cell came into being in February 2003. Till now there have been close to 80 petitions. “Out of these, we have filed cases on 13 occasions. The rest, we found, were biased and motivated ones by either disgruntled employees or former employers,†says Balu.

“Even though the police are ill-equipped,†Balu maintains, “that they have cracked most cases and did not press charges as the culprit and victim were known to each other, either by acquaintance or by relation. They do not want their family's reputation to be sullied and hence they withdraw the complaint,†he says.

A major problem in cyber crime is that unless action is taken fast, it becomes difficult. The Internet is a huge maze and data is lost without a trace within a matter of days. “If there is more awareness among the public, we are sure we can do a good job if we get all the equipment,†an officer said.

Whatever the case, one may rest assured that it would be a tough call for the Cyber Crime Cell if any major cyber crime happened in the city.

    Thanks for the "enlightenment"

By the way I have nowhere expressed any desire to have any group unbanned by any government, so whats with all the "talk to the authorities" ? Gurujee can make anything happen, and its only a matter of time. All I have done is tried to avoid any ninda without knowing the truth, thats all. How does that make me a supporter I don't understand. This is probably the 4th time I am saying it.

Appreciate the rights and priviledges offered.

Woman rescued 3 days after being buried alive

    Tuesday, 03 August , 2004, 20:41

Calcutta: A woman whose husband allegedly tried to kill her as she could not bear him a child was rescued three days after being buried alive in a pit in West Bengal, police said on Tuesday.

Hemantabala Mahata, aged about 25, was found alive by a villager when heavy rains washed away the loose top layers of soil covering the top of the pit she had been buried in, police superintendent R Shiv Kumar said.

She is now recovering in hospital, according to police.

The incident took place in the far-flung tribal village of Hetgugui in the district of Purulia last week, Kumar said.

"Hemantabala became unconscious after she was severely beaten and then strangled by her husband Ramesh Mahato and her parents-in-law," he said adding the couple had been married for 10 years and were childless.

"They took her to be dead and buried her in the paddy field beside their hut," he said.

To hide the crime, Mahata's husband buried the body instead of cremating it according to Hindu custom.

Mahata's husband and parents-in-law had been arrested and charged with attempted murder, Kumar added.

Tis Nu Maar Na Sakke Koy

  11. Fine! Have your last word and close this thread. How fair! Didn't know a few facts could bother so much. And no I aint scared if thats what the warning was intended for as I have said plain and clear and repeatedly that I am not supporting any group anywhere. Jis Da Sahib Dhadha Howe, Tis Nu Maar Na Sakke Koy. Victory on an online forum does not guarantee victory in the dargar of Akal Purkh and thats what matters. <EDITED BY MEHTAB SINGH >. Funny how I was the one keeping cool inspite of being "condemned to hell" and the warnings are also issued against me. Well done! I understand your legal concerns regarding certain banned organizations, but no one is here supporting them, only questioning an individual's supposedly false statements about them, not to forget a shameful show of hypocrisy by pointing out a Shaheed Singh as having 2 wives, yet the member himself being a supporter of polygamy in another thread (this too was pointed out by other members and not me). If that goes against your freedom of speech policy, thats just too bad. I am just too surprised and didn't expect this at a forum that claims to be following a "live and let live" motto giving "freedom of speech" to all, rather blames other "fanatic" forums for being hardliners.

anyways no hard feelings from my side

Gurujee bless you all and good luck

sorry for expressing myself using the "freedom of speech" priviledge. <EDITED BY MEHTAB SINGH>.

Moderator Note: Your truth is still on the forum so don't worry about loosing it. If you really want to prove Babbars right then go ahead talk to authorities the ones has banned this org not here. We have given general warning which can be seen clearly but as people have nature of twisting words and keep going so we can't help there. Please, take your truth to proper authorities so whole panth can benefit. Proving someone wrong on this forum will not make any difference but proving your "Babbar" right in front of those authorities might show "good" side of them.

And your freedom of speech is still there and most of the members with sane mind will be able to see it.

  12. Strange you mention "Bhai" Randhir Singh because as far as I remember he was fighting for a free India not Khalistan!!!
Why the Bhai in quotes? You have doubts that he was a pooran GurSikh? You have made ur entire argument pointless right in the beginning, sorry to say.

Babbar Khalsa, if you don't know already is a terrorist organisation banned by the anti-terrorist laws that came after 9/11.
Unfortunately the laws don't apply to BNP/NF of UK and KKK in USA. It applies to Babbars because they went against the government thats America's pet (the Indian government). The Hindustan Socialist Association started by shaheed bhagat singh was the same for the British. But today Indians are proud of it. The same shall someday be true for these Singhs.

Interesting how fanatic Wahabis claim that al Qaeda are "freedo fighters" who fight against Western attrocities and how you, Mehtab SIngh are supporting Babbar with the same argument.
I have mentioned in 2 of my initial posts that I am not vouching for any group. Also I have said that a few bad apples being the reason to label an entire group is irrational and immature. Plus the Wahabis u refer to believe in killing themselves as well as 50 other innocents. For them anyone belonging to a set of beliefs different to their own is an enemy. I don't think u read my post about Hindus joining Babbars as well. What was their interest? Why did they have to do it? They had all of Hindu India for them, so why bother about Khalistan for Sikhs? Think again dear one! if Babbars were all that hateful killers, i doubt that wud be the case.

Depending on the Western country you are your support might be seen as an illegal activity!!! Please don't tell me that the CIA and MI6 are lying about Babbar Khalsa, that would just be a joke!!!
The CIA admits it trained saddam and osama...it has been said publicly on the news...so now are they themselves making a fool of themselves? by the way i never heard of an organization called M16..i thought it was a machine gun...

    you guys make me laugh!!!
dunno bout others but its my nature to do that...and i m glad u laughed...

You kill whole families, old Nihangs and behave the same way as the Indian police
Again as i said...the groups were heavily infiltrated by agents...some of them who were totally rehitdhari and nitnemi...it was impossible to believe they could be traitors...if they do stuff like that, how can u call the genuine ones who started out as proper freedom fighters as evil?

and then go all mad when someone eats chicken!!! OOOo don't eat chicken SIngh it's paap!!!
i never stopped u from eating chicken, did i? u are free to eat anything u want...unfortunately i dont own a fast food joint or i'd have invited u myself personally...

but killing innocents in the name of Khalistan or Pakhandistan is OK for you!!!
innocents like vaidya, lalit makhan, indra gandhi? oh ok...maybe i read the wrong history...well they got what they asked for...the Sikh history i read makes it clear that anyone who desecrated darbar sahib was avenged...but oh well...all dont hold the same regard for darbar sahib sadly...

You guys are not better than the Indian police and don't give me that whole freedom fighter bs because no one with two brain cells believes it!!!
that makes the entire Sikh contribution towards the Indian freedom struggle look like a big joke. You ready to back that up? And the brain has a lot more cells to see right from wrong. It is unfortunate that some people want to follow the government propaganda against Sikhs and make martyrs look like terrorists and many fall prey to it.

You guys have nothing to do with the great Shahids like Baba Deep Singh or Bhai Mani Singh!!!
And u are no one to decide that.

We Sikhs have been fooled and betrayed not only by the Indian government but also by so-called "freedom fighters" who have given a bad name to Sikhi!!!
True...it goes on a lot in western countries...

One day the real Panth of Guru Gobind Singh (yeah the real Panth not these stupid little groups) will arise and all you "freedom-to-kill-innocent-people" fighters will join Indira Gandhi in hell!!!
Thanks for the ninda...thanx for ur concern bout me going to hell, but isn't that Guruji's business to save His Sikhs? also, what makes u think the panth right now is not real? how and who are u to say its fake?

The day will come when the Sikhs shall be distinct from the Sukhdev-Singh-panthis and the world will realise the lies that have been fed to whole generations of SIkhs.
or is it the lies that are being fed now by condemning the shaheeds to cover up something else? lemme not go there...

are u always like this? i was told that the day u get bothered will never come...sadly i proved it wrong...oh well...we all have our own drawbacks, don't we?

  13. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh

shaka, its a documented fact that the Indian authorities have done a good job to malign the name of Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar.

    Congress, Babbars, BJP, SGPC, RSS
You are comparing totally different organizations here. Other than the Babbars, the others are "government sponsored terrorists". The only reason Babbars are called the same is because their fight was against the government in power. Guru Hargobind Jee and Guru Gobind Singh Jee were fugitives for the Mughals. Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Shaheed Udham Singh were traitors for the British empire. The Babbars, similarly, are kharkoos for the Indian government. Times have changed, names have changed, governments in power have changed, but the struggle-filled spirit of the Khalsa is the same!

Just think of the thousands of women raped by the Indian police and the terrorist groups that claim to be so chardi kala!!!
The funny thing is that none of the genuine freedom fighting groups ever claimed responsibility and actually condemned these acts.

I can't believe that there are people out there who find it ok to support groups that have killed and raped innocent women when this is totally forbidden in our faith (kurimar, narimar).
So is to not raise the sword in the face of oppression (as a last option).

Be it Indian police, Babbars, RSS: it's the same crime!
No. The only "crime" of the Babbars was that they were Sikhs who fought against the attrocities committed on the Sikhs. The Indian police was doing their job of oppressing, and the RSS as we know is bent on proving Sikhs to be Hindus, not to mention how badly they are and will fail.

Let them all burn in hell for that!!!We'll see how much simran they'll do there!!!!
I don't think anyone here can foresee who went where after death. And just to let you know, the ones who have actually seen the afterlife and written about it (like Bhaisahib Bhai Randhir Singh) were freedom fighters themselves. The difference was that they were dealing with the British who were somewhat less barbaric as compared to the rulers of India in the 80s, and so they didn't really have to "sort out" Panthic dushts as the Babbars did. And as for hell, thats reserved for these very same dushts.

i m sure mehtab veer ji seen that video too...50,000 hindus...bloody hell man... is he some next hilter or something?
Hanji I did see that video and it almost threw me off my chair!! I don't know if that was "BIR RAS" or what, but still its not a proper statement and I am not vouching for Bagri. I am not voting for any particular group either. My only point is that just because of a few bad apples its improper to label an entire group as evil and forget how many Panthic dushts they sorted out.

As far as Bagri's statement is concerned, here is one scenario that comes to mind. Say person A and B get into an argument, and A threatens to kill B. Later on some third person called person C finds out, and uses this opportunity and kills B. Now who will be blamed? Obviously A because he has openly threatened to kill B! And C goes scott free! This is what I am presuming. Someone claimed to kill a huge number of people of a particular community, and MAY BE someone else used this statement/event and went ahead and did what they had to do, leaving the one who was loud enough to be the one blamed. This is just an assumption. Also, nothing solid has been proved yet against the 2 Singhs.
