  1. It is true that Sardar Jassa Singh rescued some of the Hindu women ( mostly Maratha women being  part of the pilgrims who had accompanied Maratha troop which fought historical  massive battle against Afghani  Ahmad Shah Abdali at Panipat) from the clutches of  Abdali returning on way to Kandhar.  But the  exact number is not ascertained.  Most probably about 2000 women must have been rescued as there were about 2000 to 2500 Sikh  cavalry fighters. It is ascertained that most of them must have rescued one woman each . Since the captives were at the rear end  resting at the bank of river Sutlej near Goindwal and the attack took place  in night and before Abdali's  forces could alert and retaliated , the Sikhs ran away  riding the horses with the women.

Ironically,  one rescued woman  Kashi Bai  was the maternal grand mother of the great warrior Hari Singh Nalwa (a commander in chief of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh ).         She was rescued by Hardas Singh belonging to the troop of  Sardar Jassa Singh. The woman was alone and  where about of her parents and relatives in Maharastra  was not known .  Hardas Singh ultimately married to her and later they had a daughter named Dharma Kaur who was the mother of  Hari Singh Nalwa who fought and won many battles against Afghans.
