So come join us this summer for a week of discovery, friendship and fun!

    What is it all about?

[glow=red:c53c587725]Sikh Student Camp[/glow:c53c587725] is 7days of pure bliss with sports, activities, langar, kirtaan, meditation and discussions, plus something “extra†that you may not find in your local Gurdwara

We have some great activities planned this year the now legendary Operation Aloo, Archery, Gladiators, Yoga, Football and much more.

As well as this, Sikh Student camp gives you a chance to learn and chill out and with people of your same generation that have been thorough the cycles of schools, uni's and all the shabang that goes with it and would like to learn more about their roots in a friendly and social atmosphere.

Everyone has experiences to share, and knowledge that can help others, the camps have amazing effects and can be a real catalyst for improvements in life, Let's call it a "Spring board" into the Soul, through education and understanding and a wicked time (hey no guarantees but try it out - get yah forms and cheques in!).

A magnificent display of martial art skills by thousands of Nihangs in a procession led by horsemen and Nihangs on elephants marked the last day of the Hola Mohalla festival at Anandpur Sahib here yesterday. Dressed in blue, Nihangs exhibited battle skills with traditional weapons on the roads of the holy town.

Nearly 14 lakh devotees from India and abroad paid obeisance in different gurdwaras of the holy town during the three-day celebrations.

The march past by 13 different groups of Nihangs armed with swords, rifles, “katara†and “barcha†began from their respective deras at about 11 a.m. After demonstrating their performance in streets of the towns all their way, the groups converged at the Gurdwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at about 2 p.m. Nihangs as young as four-year-old to above 60 years old were seen exhibiting their skills with swords and performing gatka.

The main event of festival a procession of all groups of Nihangs, includes the Budha Dal, and the Tarna Dal, proceeded from Gurdwara Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib about 3.30 p.m. The march was delayed for about one-and-a-half hour following security reasons. Nihangs followed this on horses, cars, jeeps, trucks and buses. Besides exhibiting their skills, the Nihangs also sprayed colours on all people on their way. The devotees considered it as blessing from the Guru. The procession passing through different gurdwaras ended at the Charan Ganga river. Thereafter, the groups exhibited martial art skills on horses in the stadium.

“The third day of the festival belongs to the Nihangs. Guru Gobind Singh started the tradition in 1701 to train his forces for the war. Since then, the festival has been celebrated with great fervour in the town, said Nihang chief of the Shiromani Panth Akali Budh Dal Balbir Singh.

“We get up at 3 a.m. After reciting Guru Granth Sahib, we take four hours to dress up in the traditional way,†said three Nihangs who were the main attraction of the procession — Major Singh (35-kg turban), Kulwant Singh and Khardul Singh (25-kg turban each). The three Nihangs led the procession of the old faction of the Nihangs Budha Dal.

An earthquake measuring at least 8.2 on the Richter scale has hit South-East Asia and experts are warning that a "widely destructive tsunami" could follow.

The quake, which struck off the coast of northern Sumatra, could cause further devastating waves similar to the ones triggered by the December 26 quake, which measured 9.0.

Authorities are being warned to take "immediate action," including evacuating coastlines within 600 miles of the epicentre - 880 miles northwest of Jakarta and around 100 miles southeast of where the Boxing Day quake hit.

Don Blakeman, a spokesman for the US Geological Survey, said: "Certainly evacuations should be occurring. I hope they are." He added that the earthquake could cause some "local tsunami activity."

Meanwhile, Robert Cessaro of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said any tsunami waves are likely to head towards the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.

Thailand has already issued a warning and ordered people to move to higher ground along its Andaman Sea coast. One witness in a high-rise building in the capital Bangkok said he felt the tremor last up to one minute.

Phuket's deputy governor said around "3,000 to 4,000 tourists and locals have been evacuated from Patong and Kamala beaches to higher places."

And the government in India's remote Andaman and Nicobar islands said it has issued a preliminary tsunami warning but is not yet evacuating people.

In India, a similar warning was issued as a precautionary measure there is currently no evidence or reports of any killer waves being generated. And in Sri Lanka, officials evacuated the eastern town of Trincomalee.
